A Private First Classes impromptu M240B tear down
I have the standard 20in rims and mbrp muffler, and using chevron 91 so far I'm getting about 17.3- 18.6mpg.
My 14 5.0 has 145k bought it new, 2 water pumps, just oil and maintenance stuff, no check engine lights ever, all stock, all original front end parts on it too. I drive this thing, over 8000 tow miles, I run E85 pretty much all year it runs great.
Any updates on how the truck is going. How many miles does it have now
video made me sub
Lucas oil stabilizer?
Did you use same oil type or different type?
Original transmission?
should’ve shown how you get to that screen first
You tightened that oil drain nut way to tight.
Great video. But you did cut a lot, which made it difficult to understand what size bolts they were but I got it after rewatching a few times
I sold a 95 F-150 with the old school 302 with well over 300k miles. So hope to get the same with my new to me 2011 coyote with 130k. Only issue so far is oil leak. Pretty simple diy project replaced the oil pan gasket fixed it right up $60 or so. I run regular gas, which is what the book says. I will not own a turbo.
It sounds good
To much talking
My 14 Platinum 5.0 is currently at 192K. I’ve had since she’s had 91K. No problems whatsoever other than the dreaded lead frame. Bought it on Amazon for 150 bucks and was about a 3 hour job. Other than that, it’s been flawless. Oil changes at 50% oil life, spark plugs and coil packs at 50-60k intervals, air filter change every oil change, fuel filter change every 50K intervals. Normal maintenance. At 200K, I’m gonna do a new front end, and also replace the rubber bushings in the rear.
Lead frame?
@@Channel--Ai yeah. Sudden downshift from 6 to 1 at highway speeds. Caused by a faulty speed sensor in the lead frame. There’s a recall for it.
Fuel filter change???
My 2013 f150 5.0 just passed the 250,000 mark. No oil consumption issues that I can tell. My main worry at this point are the brakes and all bearings. I'll be systematically replacing all that, or checking it. The thing is a solid truck and a highway queen for sure. I am a bit nervous on 1,000 mile trips, but the thing settles in and impresses me every time. It's a solid, good truck for sure. The only major I've done on it is I replaced my transmission. It shifts beautifully now.
How many miles were on it when the transmission had to be replaced

Thought it was a 15mm for the oil plug
@ 3:48 you forgot to put oil 😳 on the new oil filter rubber seal before you screwed it on!!! OOPS! 🤠🌵🌵🌵🌵🌵
lpw❤❤
Did you changed the oil gear?
thanks ...
Of all the vehicles I’ve owned, the placement of the oil filter on my ‘14 Enclave is second only in odd placement to the ‘98 Ford Windstar I once owned which required you (from underneath) to slip your hand up, over, and behind the front support beam to remove it. I’m assuming you can’t do what you’d traditionally do - after removing the oil filter you wipe the old oil from the housing and stem. Unless you’d do that without looking, by feel. Any thoughts on that?
My 2011 nissan titan Heavy Metal Chrome Edition is a beast and is a very dependable 4WD truck and all i do is the regular maint. I have even pulled a tri axle loaded with stone out of the mud!!! Army training Sir.
13.9mpg is like what I get with a 4l v6 ranger
Thank you
Thanks Bud! Got her done. Would have been nice to have that sleeve you had to help the drain the oil cleanly
I wonder what is "little bit" of Lucas exactly per 7.7qt?
Usually it’s preference. I think I only used half a quart
A true dual has seperate mufflers and not a single. You should have stayed with the stock exhaust
I have a 08 5.43 valve runs great I just change oil m myself with quality filter and oil and have 260,000 on that, I know what everyone says about the, 3 valve. One thing it does happen for those things halfway through a year it has revised cylinder heads with normal looking plugs
Fuel economy what is the engine light on for
I had the muffler and resonator deleted
There's something pleasant about this dude...he's seems like he'd be koo to bullshit with for a little while
Using a product like Lucas in an engine that requires oil pressure to operate the cam phasers is a terrible idea. I'd use either the factory recommended 5w20 or 5w30 at the thickest. Also the first gen Coyotes didn't have an oil consumption issue, it was the 18-20 models. I have a 2012 Super crew platinum with the 5.0 and I get 22.5 mpg on the highway at 65 mph. Not going off of the dash, but actual math. At 155k I use 5w20 fully synthetic oil and 87 octane fuel without any issues. The 5.0 actually gets excellent fuel mileage. If I slow down to 60 mph I can achieve 25-26 mpg!
Still got the truck? if not what happened? I have a 2013 F-150 with a 5.0 that has been running on propane since the date of purchase from a contracting company. It was a pretty great maintenance record and it currently has 401,000km or 250,000 miles. Trying to see how long I can keep it running to test out how capable this truck is.
Wtf who would want that smell
@@RK-jc5eyDoesn’t smell like eggs after combustion. Almost no noticeable smell at all.
Disconnect the battery, leave it overnight. That may clear the codes.
Do you have a video or can show me where one is of the damn transmission on these? I bought one few months ago and it's got this weird transmission that my ignorant ass never heard of. It's all self contained and has no dipstick. I try to take it to a quick lube place and those all say they can't do it and I'll need to take it to a shop. I myself prefer to learn how to fix things as I go and would rather not have to take it to the shop if it's something I could manage at home.
You’ll have problems on any brand truck
I swear these type of videos have entirely TOO MUCH talking about everything but solving the problema
Thanks for the vid! Work on your lighting and camera work would be my only comment.
I have a 2012 F-150 Lariat 5.0 4x4 with 143,000, and it’s running good. I drive it in the city 90%. What should I do underneath the hood to keep it running good? Do they still do lubricant on vehicle’s?
I did my oil change on my 24 V mercury sable. And went off the 6 quarts of oil for some reason my car start Shaking a little bit more so it made me think that the oil was a little bit more than should. I do remember last time that when I did the oil change on it, I went to 5 1/2 quarts. Did you have similar issues?
Awesome, thanks bro
That engine light can probably be causing bad fuel
Im watching this 6 years lter n all i can see is how u look like taylor laughtner
I have an 09 4.6L 3 valve and have found it to be very reliable too. Only 135k but can still average 18 to 19 mpg
51/2 guards 0n mine ,wait till you change alternator
Sheeeiiit. Starter too. Had to take the lower motor mount out and walk by faith....not by sight 😐
No help at all. You need to go back to sleep.
Thanks man!
My 2014 would not reset & clear the light at the bottom of my tach using thise method, I had to use the little info wand just below the speedometer to reset it....
He mumbles and you can’t understand him
Several questions. Has transmission fluid ever been changed in it? Also if the engine blows on that Ford f150 5.0 where place place to buy a new one?
Okay so how do you get there in the first place lmao
