Hi there buddy, I’ve only fished here a couple of times, I’ve not had great success but feel there could always be a possibility of a decent fish, maybe after a good onshore blow. I think that’s the way it is along most of this stretch of coastline at the beginning of the year, not loads of fish….but maybe a lunker… thanks so much for watching & commenting 😊👍👍

@@fishdisco3107 I tried yesterday after watching this, Chesil was a no go so hit Preston, had a tap but missed the bite and got stripped every time. Can't imagine it was crabs in january so no idea what was stripping my whipped on bait.. Water was calm so no wave taps on the rod, very confusing, like a pack of piranhas in Weymouth bay 🤣

My guess is small whiting I would have thought… at least you got out before this terrible weather 👍

@@fishdisco3107 Good thing about this area, if Chesil is bad, Preston is good, and vice versa.. Not keen on fishing in the rain but got options when it's just wind ;)

Hi there buddy, it would seem you’re in exactly the same position I was in while trying to research these rods, there’s just so little on them out there. I’m not in a position to own loads of pairs of rods for different situations, so I was out for an all-rounder, capable of handling occasional trips to the Bristol Channel, as well as Chesil and various other marks from clean sandy beaches to rougher areas around Portland etc… I know there is no single rod that would fish all these marks perfectly, so it was a tough call! Line guides are a big thing for me, and the Fuji guides on the blackrocks helped sell them to me, I bought mine from veals along with the reels through eBay as I had a discount code which gave a good saving. I’m no tournament caster, but these rods suite my casual style very well, I have also cast very big baits with 7oz of lead & it doesn’t feel too much for them, you can also cast a string of mackerel feathers & 4oz of lead & they don’t feel like iron bars….They are rock steady in high winds & the blanks are nice & slim, build quality is very good but the shrink wrap on the butt sections is starting to wear through & the metal trim bands are starting to corrode. The single downside for me is bite detection, the tips are very stiff, no probs fishing for big eels & hounds etc, but if you’re scratching or after flatfish quite often, you may struggle. Considering the modest price tag in comparison to similar rods, I’m very pleased with them and consider them as a good buy. Hope this helps & thanks for watching 😊👍👍

@fishdisco3107 @fishdisco3107 Excellent ! I will get myself just get one 13' 10 for big fish and the 13' 6 for scratching. In my country, it's rare to get a monster fishing over 15lb. And even more rare to find blackrock rod but am lucky to have one selling them new right now. Regarding the metal trim band, it is bound to corrode at some point unless they use the same material as century did on theirs. But as for my old mid range rods that has them, i will usually use a corrosion inhibitor to prevent them from corroding or rusting. Some of my friends use silicon grease on them. The tedious part is when you wash the rod after every session, you have to apply them again but it has been holding up great even after more than 5 years. For the price the rod is selling at, they have to cut the cost somewhere. I don't mind the lower component as long as the blank and guides itself is quality. Thanks for the reply !

Yes it is, bought it as a cheap second rod while deciding what matching pair of rods to buy. Quite liked it, not a bad rod at all for the money, cheap weak guides were it’s Achilles heel. Thanks for watching 😊👍👍

@@PaulFrancis-bj6vp yes, I think for the money they are exceptional. I was quite sceptical when I bought it, but there was a ridiculous deal on Veals & I think I paid around £50 for it, I was expecting a much floppier blank, but for a moderate caster like myself it was quite beautiful! My rods get a hammering, reviews suggested the guides were not the best, but for moderate use or someone starting out, I agree, they would take some beating. 😊👍👍

@fishdisco3107 I bought one second hand , then another I then thought these sonik rods ain't bad ......so bought a sks black sport ......which is the same blank with flashier paint graphics on it 😆 So then I got a sonik dominator And then found out sonik originally did a stiffer blank , better for proper rough ground ......the SK3 ......so now I have 3 of them too 😆
