Chill Thoughts: Thermaltake Tower 600
A few notes to begin:
1. I changed the video card out for the third thermal test. I made a good trade for a slightly better, slightly smaller card, but it needs to be serviced. It's running a little hot. I power limited it to roughly the same wattage as the original card so the heat in the case would be similar.
2. The colors are a bit off in some clips because they video was shot with different cameras, weird lighting, or I was experimenting with color for the video. To me, the color usually looks great when I'm editing in Davinci Resolve, but RUclips somehow butchers it, so we'll see if any of these clips look better than the typical video. We'll see what happen.

Please turn on captions / subtitles to see build notes in the video. These are my notes and thoughts about the process of building this system and some tips for you if you build something similar. This is not a review. This is a simple and quiet log of a computer build. Since the subtitles are handled by RUclips, you can now auto-translate them. It's finally here, and it's not half bad. The Thermaltake Tower 600 is something I've been looking forward to for a while. The combined efforts of Thermaltake and UPS to kill my enthusiasm were pretty effective. Not only did I get a box covered in some weird grease, but Thermaltake's initial response was literally "We don't cover our products in grease, it must be UPS's fault." Thanks Thermalta...

This is a bit of a random video. I get most of the parts I use in my videos second hand. Either they're bought from people around town or open box from stores. Either way, this gives you a pretty decent look at what you can expect when you buy a PC used. Enjoy!

You can't buy this case in the US anymore. I bought it just before they were blocked from selling here. I hope they get this all cleared up someday. Still, it's worth looking at (because I spent the money on it and, dangit, I have to get my money's worth). Maybe someone will clone it.

I didn't plan this build nearly as well as some of the others. It was kind of a sad experience, really. The case is a little sad too. A case shaped like this, but shorter, and all-around smaller would have made a great ITX system. I'll save more of that talk for Chill Thoughts. Anyway, please enjoy the build. I had hoped for a smaller case when Lian Li first showed off a prototype, but this is what we have. It's definitely bigger than the Jonsbo Z20, but not by much. It's probably most accurate to call this a direct competitor to the ASUS AP201. Editor Note (yeah, still me though): "This wasn't actually supposed to go live because there was supposed to be a section about the case feet, so here it is...

I order to edit this video, I had to do a lot of transcoding, so some of the footage may be degraded a little. Also, some playback of AV1 was smoother or more stuttery depending on the system I ran. Great build! Do you think you'd be able to squeeze in another 3.5" HDD below the PSU using the SF750?
exactly what I needed, I just bought this case migrating from an ITX and I thought that my SF750 cables wouldnt be long enough for my new Jonsbo Z20 and a new motherboard. Many thanks!
This is the only video I found, after watching several, that addresses what could be a major hassle. I was considering using this case to build my first PC dedicated solely to streaming. Since I need to install, in addition to the GPU, two capture cards from Elgato-the Cam Link Pro, which has four HDMI inputs, and the Elgato 4K Pro for the game feed from another PC-that’s already at least seven cables coming from the PCIe side! I don’t think this case will work, which is a shame because it’s a unique design. What are your thoughts? Maybe Im wrong and they could fit, I have not seen the case in person. Thanks!
If you use that many cables, it might be a little bit of a headache. I'm not sure it wouldn't work, but if I were going to do it, I'd try the following: 1. Use the narrowest and most flexible cables I can where possible. Probably that's easy to do for any 1080p sources. 2. Use a hook/loop strap to tied the cables together before they exit the lid of the case. 3. Definitely move the top fans to the bottom of the case and forgo use of the top fan bracket completely. I don't have a setup as complicated as yours, but My guess is that you could make it work.
Was it a single front panel connector that a lot of more modern cases use or is it the array of connectors that are always impossible to get the first time around?
Nice video, just found out about this case. Would it be compatible with a new X870E board, 4080 and AIO 360mm?
I have yet to see that motherboard goal for less than $124.
Really? That's surprising, but it is a solid board.
How is it with the sound? Is it quieter in person

I love my tower 500. Companies need to do better than just fishtank cases year after year.
Thanks for this realistic down to earth review, im sick of case reviewers regurgitating the specifications already available on the website. I didnt know just how bad the mobo io situation was prior to this video, so for someone like me that has a wifi board with antennae you think they can fit at all?
I would go online and get a magnetic antenna that connects with wires. This is what many motherboards come with now instead of the stick antennas (antennae?). I don't really think the situation is all that "bad," just that it's not convenient the way they set it up. I'm thinking about setting mine up with 120mm fans on either side and using a Noctua D15 on the CPU to see how well that does, then just leaving the top open. Good luck with your build!
@@ChillBuilds Been in the pc space for years and just found out magnetic solutions exist because of you. Thanks!
@@Rune_17 Yeah, they come with a ton of motherboards now. I thinking to go ahead and try with 4070 ventus 2x and i5 11th. it should be fine ?
That's a lot of heat for this case. It might work if you really strongly ventilate. Don't know.
@@ChillBuilds tks for your reply, I really enjoy your style video
is the motherboard alive? RAM works stably at the declared characteristics ? is it worth buying such a motherboard and RAM ?
Good video. Thanks.
Are the 2 case fans enough? Do they get loud?
It's been a long time since i built this. I don't have it anymore. I think it was enough, but this wasn't a very quiet build. I think better fans could have kept it quieter.
This was great, seeing how it unmounts plus those antenna things are really tricky to handle. The reminder about the drivers are great because we have a mindset to upgrade only when absolutely necassary (BIOS) but it is good to keep an eye on other firmware from time to time
How much did you paid for the build ? Mine will come next week I am so excited 😂
It's hard to say exactly. A lot of my parts are received through trades. Sometimes, I buy a whole system, swap out some parts, and sell it to just swap out components and keep things fresh. In my area, if you bought the case new and the rest used, this would probably cost about $1200 to build (at the time of this comment). Maybe more or less.
@@ChillBuilds that’s a rly good price tbh 👍
This case is epic fail for overprise , as for me.
@@jaisonwolf9659 well its not for everybody and thats fine. For me its doing great the only critism i´ve got is the holes for the 14 inch fans are freaking joke and way too tiny but you can fix it with a drill
@@T0ban If everything was as easy and simple as it seems to you, then we would all live epically. In fact, behind any super profit of companies there is essentially a fraud, but to understand this, an ordinary consumer like you needs practice and knowledge. Therefore, when people who know a certain area write that this is overpricing and overengineering, then you need to listen to this. I myself have owned a 900 tower for a long time and I know what I'm talking about. What the TT company does for now looks like a scam and fraud, this is especially noticeable when you are in 2024, and not in 2018) And partly this was also earlier, but then there were no good examples of technology from other manufacturers who think more about the comfort of the buyer than about their own ideas of earnings.
I like the build looks noice but do have to say put some more thermal paste on it you might have some areas where there won't be any thermal compound touching some areas of that nic amd cpu
@@HunterTheKing24 I just took the build apart earlier today and there was not a spot of the IHS that was not covered.
what screwdriver are you using, i cant seem to unscrew the screws holding that silver box holding the wifi card, i could unscrew the shield and IO panel screws so guessing i need a smaller head
The one I used in this video was a generic electronics repair screwdriver kit I bought at the local Microcenter for around $20. It has about 30 alternative heads for different sized screws. Look for a set something like that, because using the right size screwdriver that grabs the screw perfectly keeps the screws in good shape (not stripped) and makes jobs a lot easier.
Great video. Thanks
Nesse vídeo eu aprendi tudo que não devo fazer na montagem do meu. Obrigado.🤣🤣🤣🤣
I just finished my build and the one thing i hate about this case is the power button and io ports are on the bottom, my case is on the floor not a desk, so you have to get on your knees to use the ports or power button. Stupid design, im coming from a nr200p , all the io is on the top, so much better. Other than that its a good case.
Thank so much ❤❤❤

@@happybuggy1582 Yeah just saw it for around $82 after digging around. Well most cases are already from china, and I see that it’s pretty well built. I wanted the lian li one as well but it’s an extra $30 for the tempered glass. $90 total.
I have the same case but all mesh. The hanging power plug is ugly indeed so what I did is I connected my PSU's power cord to that extension power plug INSIDE of the case so that it doesn't hang like that. I also secured/tied the plug so that it will not be easy to unplug.

@@ChillBuilds I meant exhaust and intake?
Why did you remove cover amd air cooler bro?
This computer is apart now, so I don't remember if there was any need to remove it in the case. But, in some cases, shaving off the extra height can be the difference between the cooler fitting or not. The last case I remember specifically needing to do that for is the Inwin Chopin.
This or Sama pro?
Hi, could be a strange question but how much does the full build weigh? Great video btw!
This is the best video of an actual build in the Sama IM01 Pro. Great work!
Nice video! May I ask what is the weight of this build after the installation?
I just ordered the Black and Orange version of this case. The reason i did choose this case is because i wanted something smaller but still easy to build for someone who never build small form factor. I also have the hardware already so what i have has to fit. I do not want to go to ITX motherboard and SFX power supply, but keep uATX motherboard and ATX PSU. I had these wishes not only because i already have that hardware now, but i looked up how much choice you have for each size and what you pay for what you get. My conclusion is that ITX is very limited in featureset and choice of motherboards and you pay a premium for the boards. The choice for SFX is also smaller that ATX psu and also there is a price difference. I rather have something that i have wide choice of components when i upgrade the components in this case a few years from now. I also like to put more of my budget to get more performance then putting it in getting smaller then this case is. Looked at several video's of builds in this case and they all seem to be easy to build and no problems with getting everything in very neatly. I have good confidence that when it arrives my build will be easy.
Did you get it? How did it go?
@@ChillBuilds the delivery from Caseking took some time but yes i did get it. The build was indeed as easy as i imagined. I started completely without the manual, and fixed the PSU with the screws that came with the Seasonic i had. I remounted it later with the screws that come with the case. That was the only thing i did redo, as the screws that come with the case do not make scratches and are just better. I did build it with a 12cm dual tower air cooler. There are tables in the manual that tell you what combinations fit in the case as you can move many components. Also packaging is very nice inside the box they used some black extreme durable foam blocks and instead of a plastic bag they wrapped it in a cloth like bag. The accesoiry kit is in its own box with full foam insert and plastic box for screws. I am very happy with the build.
The part i was waiting for, put them back on and hope it fits 💀💀💀💀 mine just fell off and was trying to put it back on
