    I have three vitex that I found on clearance at Lowe’s last year, when they were 24” tall twigs. Each have added about 3’ in height and 8-9’ in width this summer and have so many blooms. The hummingbirds love them. I like your idea of making them into more of a tree form. I’m going to try your idea.

    Nice garlic harvest. The stem and leaves are still green, so they create photosynthesis, so imho if you waited a few more weeks you'd have an even greater harvest. OTOH if the soil too moist for too long it might get spoiled.

    I have one that's still young and I was wondering how to prune it into a tree. I live in Louisiana (zone 9A) so it's probably not going to go completely dormant like yours so when would be the right time to shape it? She's a full large shrub shape right now. Just kind of growing free form at the moment.

    • @GardenwithJoanna
      @GardenwithJoanna 2 месяца назад

      Hi! They bloom on new wood-so if you don’t want to loose any of your blooms for the season prune right after they bloom. But otherwise you can prune any time you’d like. It won’t affect them either way! They are tough and beautiful plants!

    • @Cherylebreaux
      @Cherylebreaux 2 месяца назад

      @@GardenwithJoanna Thanks for the response. She's blooming for the second time this season so I think I will take your advice and wait until blooming is over. It's in full Louisiana sun all day and seems to love it so I can attest that they are tough. I've lost two other trees in that exact spot because it's brutal out there. The nursery recommended the vitex when I asked what is hard to kill. So far, so good.

    Hi there. Enjoyed your video. I’m in the process of setting up my drip irrigation. I see you use mostly brown tubes. Are they 1/2” tubes with holes in them? I usually see people use 1/4” drip lines so wondering if I should use your method instead. Thanks!

    • @GardenwithJoanna
      @GardenwithJoanna 2 месяца назад

      Hi! In these beds I mostly have the 1/2” tubing with emitter holes every 12”. I tend to use a mix of both the 1/2” and 1/4” depending on the garden bed and layout of the plants. My front beds are the 1/2” without holes and then I ran the 1/4” tubing to each plant. I did that because the plants aren’t planted in rows as much as they are on my side and back garden beds. With rows it’s definitely easier and faster to use the 1/2” with the emitter holes. I hope that helps! Let me know if you have any other questions! 🌸
