What memories I have of Campbeltown. I lived there. My family was from there. It is a beautiful place.
I played a hole with Ronan in around 1992 when visited Birley Wood in Sheffield. To this day, it was something I remember well and cherished the experience as a 12 year old where he gave a morning of tuition followed by everyone playing a hole with him!

What a lovely golf course and what a nice gentleman Mr Rafferty seem to be!
We stayed at the Royal in September 2019. We wouldn't stay anywhere else now. I'm sure there are other nice hotels / motels in the area but we were really spoiled by the location, room, and food ( oh, the Haggis Nachos. Mmmm...) . Oh, and the nice man at the front desk too. Campbeltown was a top 3 favourite of the 20+ towns / cities that we stayed in during our UK trip.
I heard that from Turnberry the drive to Macrahanish is six hours, or you can just take a ferry and get there in one hour.

It’s a road I know well sadly due to the fact my brother was on the Chinook that crashed at the Mull of Kintyre having said that it is still a wonderful scenic drive with some breathtaking sights, I have played that course but maybe next time I’m back from Oz I will get a chance Thankyou for the good commentary and wonderful scenes.
I played machrihanish Dunes last year and like Roman I fell in love with the course stunning fun to play and did not want to leave the course probably the most fun I have ever had on a golf course

I think that Ronan Rafferty retired rather early from the regular European golf tour due to injures.
A £5 fake beard was a lot cheaper than the £300 that the real Old Tom's ghost is charging for RUclips appearances these days. Seriously though, I wanna play here! I played Musselburgh with hickories a few years back and got hooked on the old wood. I need to get back to Scotland and back to the heart and soul of the game.

They have some of the best food & drink in campbeltown. The staff r friendly to. No dogs or farm animals allowed inside so please leave them in your car.
