Wind is great, but it's unpredictable. Typically it is a great companion to solar. Solar does its think during the day, wind tends to be higher at night. Just because somebody is invested in wind doesn't mean that it should be the only thing you use.

Bullshit claims - very few wind turbines are worth it at home unless you can raise it 100 feet in the air with a swept radius over 4 feet and you live in an area with more than 15 mph winds. Vertical axis wind turbines (VAWT) are also less efficient than horizontal versions (HAWT). Don't be fooled!

A house naturally has wind flowing over the roof. Mount a vawt on the ridge and create all kinds of power. It's this simple.
