Ask The Expert: What's The Difference Between Micro and String Inverters?
There should be a federal law that HOAs can't interfere with solar installation.
how do you get under ducts
luck our ducting system inside the house , it doesn’t matter if leaked , all go in the house anyway
Best make sure static velocity and design are right first. This is a total nightmare to deal with when it's not.
Just from an added insulation perspective, do you know how much more R-value your foam spray adds to flexible ductwork? (Which, I believe, should have its own R-value of R-8 if over 3" if following code)
I do not know about that spray foam is it fire proof and what happens if you have to make a repair , my opinion replace the whole duct system and prevent that spray foam 🤔
@@miltonmerced1362 I would _never_ let them do this to my home! Your thoughts are on the right track. For instance, replace the duct work if old and flexible... don't waste money on duct cleaning old flexible ducts. Use that money for non-flexible replacement. Properly seal and insulate the new ducting. ... If existing non-flexible, cleaning may be the best (cost-effective) option. EXTRA, read if you have time: I am drawing up plans for going with solar mini splits: removing all central AC/furnace components... except I will replace the ducts because mine are old/flexible... install a new blower/cage/case, with better filters than my current 1x... have the blower hooked up to two separate thermostats, or possibly three... so, depending, I can have one or both/all, on or off, and when a certain zone requires air circulation, the thermostat/s can kick on the blower, and I will have whole house circulation, which is good for many reasons... or not I am probably going to use single head/condenser systems, so, even if one is down, the other/s will work, (instead of one condenser with multiple heads). At this point, for sure, I will have two mini splits. I am trying to figure out if I should install three. (My house floor plan is somewhat goofy.) Whatever, each only requires, and comes with, 4 solar panels. With three, each unit will be less expensive, because for my home, they will only need to be 12,000 BTU each, not 24,000... and, they will only need 15 amp/120 volt circuits. For me, pros: NO central AC/furnace components at all! If I choose, not even ducting. Two to three zone AC/heating. ALL DYI! Under half the price of a new central AC/furnace system, which I need, now. (I can hire an HVAC company/tech to do the ducting/blower, but where I live, everyone is price gouging like crazy!) Cons: none! IMPORTANT: Even if not on solar, with my (tri-fuel portable) generator backup system, I have no worry of power outages during anytime of the year, regarding AC/heat, especially since the mini splits will be 15/120, and I can run only one at a time, if I choose. NOTES, for anyone's home: Attic space needs to be completely sealed off from the living areas! Roof system needs proper venting! (I am installing a new roof system.)
BTW, to whoever, for most instances, such as attic insulation, it should be no less than R30. Things like radiant barrier can be added, also. I mention the tidbits because without proper insulation, attic venting, sealing, etc., any added duct insulation is a waste. Do the previous things, first. EDIT Sealing the attic top plates, wire holes, etc., with a foam can/dispenser is the least expensive, and will help a great deal! Of course, I did not mention, because it goes without saying, that an obvious duct leak should be fixed/sealed.
I want one!
Is this available in canada?
Just get a potrtable ac unit, cut a 6 inch dia hole in your ceiling, buid a sturdy shelf about 4 feet from garage ceiling as this will alow you to sit ac unit in shelf so you dont have to need a long vent hose as you would if unit was on the floor. Fix unit to the shelf so it does not slide off, i was able to remove the wheels from bottom of mine. Attach vent hose to back of unit, and tbe run it through the hole you cut in your ceiling. This will allow hot air that unit removes from your garage to be vented to the atic. My garage stays a comfortable 74 to 76 degrees on a hot 95 degree day takes tbe edge off.
This is a great idea, what does that typically run in electricity cost? Do you run it 24/7? If not, how long does it take to cool down typically? Thanks for any advice!
I’m good, so I don’t use my dryer for three months!
How about insulating the door panels?
U dont sound healthy brother, and those ZERO cokes are worse for u than regular. Hope u are good tho
What type of fan
Why make a promotional video and then not respond to questions?
Hi Darlena. Our apologies. We missed these comments. Answering them now.
Do you have to send the air into the attic or can you send it out Through a wall.
are the lenses available in tints? Rose or sifter yelliw light?

Spend another $15 for a thermostat for that overhead exhaust fan and wow no wasted electric. It comes on at a preset temperature and pulls cooler air in through the two front passive vents on the overhead garage door and the overhead exhaust fan shuts off at night as cooler temperatures trigger the thermostat to shut off the fan. This also helps your home ac by forcing the hot air out of your attic. Be sure your attic is also vented.
Where does cieling vent actually vent to? Like how does it exhaust? Humid air into the attic? If so, idk how good of an idea that is
Any chance you can link the product you use?
Can you add blow in insulation in a wall that has old bat insulation already.
Why would you not insulate the floor again?
I actually want the hot air built up in my garage to GO outside. I dont want outside hot air coming in. Seems counter intuitive
@@mazinblasterzetto9645thanks. I just want a passive way to cool my garage. Wouldn’t vents at the bottom(cool) and vents at the top(rising air) be sufficient?
Do you guys sell this by itself? I’m in Texas and I’m lookin to get some ventilation system for my garage!
Me too, in Arizona
I don’t wanna cut a vent in my garage door…could I just use the garage window?
In Florida you never want the hot air and humidity to come in. It would make the garage hotter.
Or you could just open the garage door
for the air intake. yes.
But where does the fan vent TO?
Probably in the attic
What a great idea!
Is there a way to make a pully system that is pkwered by solar energy? I live by the river and we live 30 foot up. Thanks
It's Super hard (for me anyways) to find online info about lenses & if it's possible to get one that makes the light less "sterile" white almost florescent lightbult sterility. Are there lenses that warm the color or better yet, dim the light? I can prolly go to Home Depot but as things are now Id rather not. Any info you could give would be Greatly appreciated! (& hopefully I explained myself clearly enough)

How high off the ground do you install foam boards? I am assuming they don't touch the ground. Can you explain the ground vapor barrier, wall vapor barrier and foam board. Like which one comes first, then over lap etc. Thanks.
I'm pretty sure an answer is coming any day now.
Late but I can answer: Foam board IS suitable for wet locations and moisture has no effect on it. There's no spray foam on the rim joist though. That 1-2 inch gap is a termite reveal.
I don't think this can work. On a really hot day the air outside is going to be say 95 degrees, this will be cooler than inside the garage but the very best you'll do will be 95 degrees inside. So does it make the garage cool enough to work in the garage - I'd say no, you need to cool the air at least slightly and vent it.
Disagree.... our garage faces West. In the late afternoon, it can be 90 degrees outside and thermostat inside garage says 98. Fact, I have checked it against several thermometers.
@@topekastealthvb I think we are saying the same thing. Whatever the air outside is, that's the best temperature you will get down to. So there is some benefit. In your example you could get it down to 90 degrees inside - which is what I said in my original comment. But if it is 98 outside you'll at best be 98 inside and waste a lot of air movement for no reduction in temperature. So indeed it is helpful but I stand by my point that if you want to work hard in the garage, you better cool it one way or another or it just won't be comfortable enough at least for me.
DO you sell this system? I am in FL. Tks
I have two of them on my roof! They work great !
You all do great work !
Love your work !
Great customer information
What is the CFM of the ceiling fan?
Great information !
I wish you guys had shown more detail of the garage door vent. I'm curious what it looks like aesthetically on the inside and outside.
What brand is this
How much does this same set up go for, price wise?? Thanks
Wow. That’s 13 seconds I won’t get back.
Foam board would be much more effective on the exterior foundation walls. Your block walls would be insulated between the ground and the foundation.
how much did that cost? looks like a clean ass job!!!
Pretty sure these guys are very expensive.
