    Washing machine hoses have female connections on both ends. They come steel braided as well. The hose itself can be a full diameter or a thinner diameter which you want to avoid if possible.

    1:15 😂😂😂😂 I don’t have enough gravity. Yep, there is no such thing dear lady! It’s air pressure, not magic gravity that „pushes“ down on the water. Water always seeks the lowest point under the pressure of the air. It’s heavier than air. That’s why it flows downhill eventually ending up in the ocean. Yes, the ocean is completely level and doesn’t curve magically around a ball spinning space.

    My setup is similar to yours, but I use a submersible pump 1200 GPH a hooked to a digital timer which runs for 7 minutes in the morning. Also rather than hooking up the barrels with PVC, I used an old garden hose using the siponing principle effect which allows me to clean the barrels at the end of season. My three barrels holds enough water to last a week which allows me to go on vacation or be away for a few days. I can use the pump to transfer rain water from my 3 275 gal totes to refill the barrels when needed..

    You definitely should connect the barrels from the bottom area or when the barrel you are pumping from goes low you will then need to connect the pump to a different barrel. They cannot work together being piped together from the top.

    • @clavicus
      @clavicus 2 года назад

      I guess the idea is that if you connect them at the bottom, then the potential energey of EACH full barrel is transferred to the next barrel through the pipe in the bottom. If the pipes are in the top, only a fraction of the total potential energy is being transferred from each one?

    • @utubestalker.dotcom
      @utubestalker.dotcom 3 года назад

      that's a pretty good idea.. All you need is a 3 gallon per minute or 180 gallon per hour submersible fountain pump which might cost $10 shipped to give good flow, enough to hook up to a consumer low pressure washer. If you are going to add a pressure washer to this setup, include a water filter between the pump and the pressure washer. Instead of 3 rain barrels, maybe better to just get one IBC food grade tote, if you have the space for it

  • @jayleaver728
    @jayleaver728 3 года назад

    Personally i would have piped them together lower on the barrels as well maybe a couple of inches up from the bottom so they can all stay at the same level only using the middle spigot and which would allow you to use gravity as the weight would be the combined capacity of the 3 barrels

    Not to mention that the city water here in Asheville North Carolina will absolutely kill almost all of your vegetables much less anything else… I am ashamed to be a resident of a place like this with glacial water sources turned into the crap that they do. We should be on par with Aspen when it comes to water treatment for consumption… But then there is that 1960s talk about “dental caries“ people still have not realized that consuming fluoride makes your bones brittle exacerbating osteoporosis and arthritis… Thanks for the videos, cheers!

  • @walkingmonument

    So I see 2 problems. You have a spigot at bottom of only one barrel which means you have two barrels collecting water for no apparent reason. Unless those barrel are connected in so way that I can’t see through some pipes that are close to the bottom of the barrel, you’re only getting water from one of those barrels and then you have to wait for more rain water to get more rain in the barrel. Secondly, unless you have a screen on the pipe serving as overflow, mosquitoes will literally fly up the tubes and lay their eggs in the water. Connecting the barrels with pipe at the bottom of each barrel in series with each other should give you plenty of pressure so that you can do without a pump.

    • @PeterPeter-fo8df
      @PeterPeter-fo8df 3 года назад

      Yup. Bottom connection is best. Also she should have her downspout go into the barrel, imo.

    Very elitist and it solves a fake problem. Global warming is a fake problem made up by democrats for attention. These houses and people are rich also the homes sell for the millions. It’s just a way for rich people to look down on everyone else because they live in a tract house and super commute, while these rich people get to sit around petting cows in their two million dollar house feeing good about themselves for “saving the environment”. In reality if this were to be a solution to anything not only would the price need to come down but climate change would need to be REAL and climate scientists would need to be RIGHT for once instead of making dozens of absurd predictions about the end of the world that fail to culminate.

    Good info. Thank you. Your garden looked great. Are you still gardening? For gardeners who will use a spray nozzle or shutoff valves in their irrigation system, the Seaflo line of pumps work great. They have an on-demand feature that will automatically shutoff when pressure builds in the line and automatically turn back on when pressure decreases (i.e. squeeze the nozzle or open a valve). These are robust pumps used in RVs and large boats/yachts. Either 12V or 120V. Great for solar power setup.

Anyways thanks for the reminder need to purchase the 250 gallon tube that will be placed next to the greenhouse. Will add gutters that will drain into the tube so that I may collect from the greenhouse that’s closer to the vegetable garden. I will eventually put it on my channel...kit. I don’t post much on it yet I do post. So no for now to answer your question yet it will when I do it🥰👍🏾

      It’s not just what’s in tap water, it’s what’s not in tap water. Rain barrel water like mine where the tops of the barrels are open collect leaves and debris which slowly break down and creates water that is so much healthier for plants. I place floating water plants in and they serve as landing pads for the insects that do a lot of good for my garden. Sometimes they die in the barrels also adding to the nutrient levels for plants. I place fish in mine and their poop is great for plants. You don’t get this with city water. The value of my rain water far exceeds that of city tap for all these reasons and more
