I am tapering from prescribed benzos. The benzo withdrawal is absolute hell and tapeting is super slow because if i try to go faster i get too many bad symptoms. So to help i started taking some gabapentin. It is helping especially now at the end of the benzo taper. Actually its the only thing helping short from sleeping in a comatose state. But now at the end my withdrawals getting worse and i am wondering if its now the gabapentin giving me withdrawals since i am taking them less now to see if i can get off the benzos. My anxiety is up and i get burning skin and feel restless just unable to function. When i take a low dose of gabapentin this goes away and i calm down dramatically. The burning hot skin cools off. So i dont know is it now increased benzo since i heard its hard shortly before tapering off or is it now gabapentin whom i relied on to help me through. How do i differentiate? Im worried now about gabapentin reading horror stories online. Benzos are hell i can verify that especially because physical dependence can kick in even after a very short time as in my case. Is gabapentin the same?? So i just changed from one hell to another? Please let me know what you know!

L-theanine give me anxiety and so does CBD and so does Buspirone. Weed give me terrible anxiety as well. I do not know why all this stuff that relaxes most people does the opposite for me. The only thing that relaxes me is petting my stray cat and listening to music helps some and walking. I feel so terrible 3.5 years clean from a 2 year taper from xanax and now a one month taper from a 2 year 600 gabapentin dose each day, I am clean from gabapetin for about 2 weeks, I have horrible pains and fatigue, I cam completely unable to function. My mind is so foggy I can hardly type this paragraph Although certain strains of CBD does help a lot but only for a few days if I lay off of it for several weeks and take it again it will work for a few days. If you try CBD and it does not work try another brand.

ITS WITHDRAWAL FROM HELL!! I've been trying to quit for 2 years now and always come back to it because it helps me with pain but I have gained so much weight while on it. An obscene amount of weight because it increases my appetite so much, and even though I'm vegan Im still a fat ass because I can't lose weight while on it. Be careful. The withdrawal for me was worse than the withdrawal I had from Xanax,

I realize that gabapentin is very helpful for many people, but everyone is different. I was on various doses for 3 months to help with postherpetic neuralgia. OMG, this stuff sucks so much, never again, I was dizzy, tired, had the terrible drunkish brain fog feeling along with dry eyes that were often blurry and hard to focus. Just terrible, couldn't take it or function, so decided to come off. The highest does I was on was 600mg. I tapered down over 3 weeks to 100mg a day then zero. Had a boatload of withdrawal symptoms such as nausea, fatigue, anxiety, agitation, reduced appetite, wild mood swings/ crying and dizziness. The first 5 days off were the worst. I'm currently at day 13 and still not perfect, but greatly improved, still get random dizziness and waves of fatigue. Hopefully at 20 to 30 days I will feel relatively normal. I'll never take Gabapentin again.

I use Gabapentin occasionally (300 mg) before going to bed if something upsets me. It knocks me out and I sleep pretty normally. The one thing I noticed is if I take it more than 2 days in a row, it definitely starts affecting my memory. It takes a few weeks for my mental sharpness to return.

Can you abuse gabapentin? My son has extremely rare form of dwarfism and he has random nerve pain and he takes gabapentin. Should I be concerned? He's 16.

I was on 3200 mg and tapering down as of july 4. Now july 21 and im down to 1600 mg. Im doing ok with only occasional very mild anxiety. I was on it for neuropathy. I dont drink and no mental health issues. I should be completely off in about 4 more weeks as im decreading 400 mg weekly.

Anyone attempting to taper Gabapentin, I recommend going much slower than this. Going down 300mg at a time is good until you get to 300mg, then try going to 200mg for a while (at least a week), then 100mg for a while, then 50mg for a while, then 25mg for a while, then 12.5mg from a while. And yes, once you go under 100mg you're cutting open the pill and just taking the powder. Just eyeball it, half is 50mg, a quarter is 25mg, an eighth is 12.5mg etc...The point: take your time and go slow, I avoided withdrawal symptoms when I did it this way.

I hate gabapentin tbh, I was taking 10 300mg pills a day… but if I took I would shake if I didn’t take it I would convulse. Not worth it. Alcohol is bad too. Seek out better alternatives like stimulant adhd meds, or if you’re like me and take it for pain, switching to opioids was much better.

I take gabapentin for fibromyalgia it does help I believe that you do go through withdrawals if you run out im not sure if it is physically or mental addictive but if I run out the burner is horrific can't slow don't want to eat it does help get your appetite back can cause swelling though When you are in pain you don't want to eat so I believe that the good benefits outweigh the bad but just like any other drug it can be abused if you aren't careful

I feel you on the isolation. After my psychosis I completely isolated myself for a long time. It took me about a year to recover from my worst psychosis. I felt so ashamed and lost some friends that I thought were my friends, but they weren't really. My psychosis was on complete display on my social media story. I posted videos of myself acting psychotic and many people I knew saw it. How embarrassing

How much were you taking daily prior to your quit? I currently have been taking 2400 to 3000 every other day for the last 2 months recreationally to be honest. I ran out of my script early and had to not take for 3 days. I started to feel a mild to medium what i think is withdrawal worried me. Given my weird dosing schedule what would you or anyone here recommend i do to taper cause i dont want to get stuck in dependency

Gabapentin is poison! I only took Gab for 3 months. * Hated the feeling (depression,no energy, no sense of humor, no ambition, etc.) * Withdrawing felt like head/body trauma, vomitings, diarrheas, headaches, eyes strained, stomach hurt, hard to concentrate, no appetite, couldn’t eat and I’m still recovering & weak.

Drug companies should be forced to manufacture titration doses. In fact a whole package of titration from start to finish. The knowledge is out there to know how much to Titrate and by how long. Hundreds of thousands of people out there suffering and f.a done. Big pharma Ihate u as it’s just $$ not care.
