@driveheritage I think you could fit one on the back! That would look brilliant! The only problem with the 9 mile messerschmitt is that you can't use it, or it's not a 9 mile car anymore! Still has the original paper mats on the floor too 😄

Good thought. Not even checked to see if the body of the dizzy is loose, or can be twisted in any way. Pretty sure it is on electronic ignition, rather than points.

That's the next port of call, and inspect the plugs too - we didn't have the right size plug socket with us when we were filming that day.

Yes, but you will need to position them a spline or two further around than standard, and then fine tune with the grub screw. The grub screw adjustment won't give 3 inches on its own.

Absolutely! A 'similar' intermediary system works for adopted children trying to find their biological parents... But yes, for a price - and lets be honest if you are searching for a vehicle that means a lot to you, you'd pay a sensible sum for a straight forward and legal professional service which could do this. There are plenty of stumbling blocks, such as personal registrations, but a DVLA/Globally endorsed service would be fantastic! Please make it happen!!

Absolutely!

Yes, the GTI 16v has got a real cult following, and aside from the G60 / Rallye and the Uber rare G60 Limited is the one to have from an investment point of view. Taking nothing from the regular GTI or even the less sporty models, as they are great entry level, useable classics.

It's certainly a charmer! These non-GTI models are still relatively affordable too, plus they'll tackle a daily commute if needs be.

Sadly the more modern vehicles have lost a bit of appeal, and designed to only last a finite period of time. They are more appliances than automobiles. This car is a credit to Mr Bendon, and to Volkswagen who built a car that can still move with modern traffic almost 40 years later.

Thanks for your comments - we are constantly expanding our range, and we're as keen as you are to include parts from OE brands such as Hella in this growth. It's not quite as simple as asking them to make more; many of these parts have been out of production for years and whilst there is demand from the classic sector, it may not be worth their while to invest in the tooling to make the parts when the numbers are significantly smaller than a similar part for modern cars.

Thanks for your feedback - our workshop is in the corner of our warehouse, where we send upwards of 1000 parcels a day. Sadly, we do have to accept that there will be packing sounds, such as tape guns and pallet wrap being used - the bird noises, well we are also less than half a mile from the sea, so there are Seagulls everywhere!! Glad you like the car, and we will do our best to suppress these noises, or film during quieter periods.

@@driveheritage Cheers - maybe better mics with that fluffy stuff on them to drown out background noise? I'm no expert on this btw ha ha. Or maybe mess about with where you wear the mics possibly? And yea it is a nice Mk2 - I have a white small bumper GTI with a rear silencer on it from yourselves from back when you were VW heritage I think?

Now we have started, we can start to finesse the quality and experiment with regards to the type of content that our audience are interested in watching. Appreciate your feedback.
