Rediscovering Joy in Gaming | How to finish more games?
"Am I too old for videogames?" "How to finish my backlog?" "Videogames aren't fun anymore" Or, "They don't make them like they used to"... These are al thoughts that are becoming more and more common as times goes on.
It used to be the best time of our lifes whenever we had anew game to play. Now, even though we want to keep playing, and we can buy all the games that we want, we just don't do it. Why is that?
In this video, I go in depth on the main reasons why it's just not how it used to be, but more importantly, I will tell you how to overcome that feeling. You can call it lazyness, lack of discipline, or shiny object syndrome, however, the truth is that we can beat it!
I hope you enjoy!...

Why Fighting Games Make You Happy!

This is the best moment in your figthing game career. Fighting games are a unique medium that showcases our progress and growth, sparking immense joy when we realize just how far we've come. These little victories are what make fighting games an...
How Vinland Saga Redefines Strength
Просмотров 10 тыс.2 месяца назад
Ranking strength is not as simple as we have been taught to believe. Vinland Saga shows us that strength goes far beyond physical power. If two entities are close in power, either one can win. This is the reason why upsets happen all the time. Not only in this anime, but in any sort of competition. In this video, we’ll break down the complexities of strength as seen through Thorfinn, Askeladd, ...
Reading Manga vs. Watching Anime (the superiority complex)
Просмотров 3382 месяца назад
Which one is better? What is more enjoyable? Who is in the right? Although these two belong in two diferent categories, there have been multiple debates on which side is "more of a fan". Specifically, Manga readers critize Anime watcher for being kind of "late to the party". I am a fan of both sides. I believe they are meant to be enjoyed equally, but separatelly, nevertheless, If I had to pick...
Why Fighting Games Make You Show Your True Colors

Fighting games are hard, but great. Have you ever seen how in traditional sports, grown men pick fights with other grown men? If this were to happen on any other environment, it would be considered weird, but because it's on a sporty environment, it gets a pass. There is something about sports that have us show who we really are, what we are really thinking, and in this video I want to talk abo...

Talent vs Hard Work in Esports and in Life

One of the best things I did to keep my love of gaming alive when I suddenly got busy and couldn't play my usual multiplayer faire was find a bunch of games I could actually play and finish in a handful of hours. I played some of the best games I've ever completed in that span, and they were games I wasn't likely to have picked up while my attention being soaked up by my old favorites. Funnily enough, a game being on the shorter end winds up being a boon to me now. I plowed through the first 3 Metal Gear Solid games in two weeks because I could actually beat them in a few days each.

I used to want to complete every game I got, I'd 100% them if possible. But for me now I get joy from simply taking something as far as I can, within reasonable constraints. Or when setting myself smaller specific sub-goals within a game.

    1. I don't understand why you presented this "How to finish more games?", as a question. 2. I have zero need or desire to finish a game, depending on type of game. I still play GT4 on my PS2, never finished it, and spend most of my time in the 24hr Nurburgring race. I have finished Quake I & II, original Doom, and HL1, but I revisit and play them over and over. I played Fallout 3 and RDR 1 on my PS3 for 3 years each, never finished them, no desire to. Currently playing Fallout 4 on my PS4 Pro, coming into my 4th year, never finished. I give little concern about character and game story, thus I don't need or desire to know the outcome of these fictional characters...it a game, not an effing book or movie... I play games for the gameplay, not to be emotionally invested in superfical characters.

You don't need to finish games. I tried to focus on how to enjoy games as an answer to the "trend" of games not being good anymore or that we had outgrowned them. It's great that you still find joy in gaming. Thank you for watching the video & leaving a comment!

Many people stop playing games and become all reviewers themselves instead of being playful and enjoying their time with a game they always ask themselves if the graphics could look better, if the dialog is written perfectly, looking recording and sharing bucks in the internet and so on. And the sad thing is that it turned out that bad news about a game are more profitable for the creators so it´s becoming more and more a trend. Well people nowadays even reviewing a games that they haven´t played themselves based on another bigger RUclipsrs opinion. That's exactly what happened with Star Wars Outlaws this year. I played it day one on my Series x with now issues at all having a blast only to find out three days later online that I am supposed to hate it because it's terrible. It´s insane.

I usually play more niche games that I find out about from community boards and such, but I've been practicing not even watching trailers or videos before trying the game myself. If people who like the stuff that I like, also like the game, and the screenshots show aesthetics that are cool to me, I just get the game. Now all the music and story and graphics will be a surprise to experience. And I'm more motivated to play it since I've invested actual money. It's been a good for me.

I have a family now so time is limited since the hobby I prioritize over others is working out. Gaming is a close second making me choose what one I find more important. But, I get 30-60 min in a day now. I hit a gamers rut for a long time before that. Best thing for me was so slow down on watching so many RUclips guides, reviews, builds for rpgs, etc. just play the game the way I want to play it and not live through the eyes of others.

My kids and I played Legend of Zelda Wind Waker on PC using Dolphin. We hacked it to remove the horribly tedious Triforce fishing fetch quest. I bounced off that part when I was a kid playing it on Game Cube. Hacking it out was amazing! Padded-out games are a problem. As an adult gamer, I don't want to grind; I want memorable experiences! So, I'm frequently playing on easy mode. Try that or hack to remove hard/boring parts.

"if the game is not letting us finish the game then it's not a good game" - hardcore players will ridicule you and declare they have skills and better than you and tell you to leave.

Haha I know it sounds silly, but for me it's 100% true. It's like reading a good book. You need some sorft of discipline in order to get going.

I went down with stress and unsubbed from various RUclips channels and avoid negative info in the gaming scene. I'm not trying to stay on top of new releases. They'll still be there in years to come. Just playing WoW classic and Path of Exile 2 at the slowest pace. But I'm enjoying the heck out of it not worrying about all the new releases I used to feel I missed out on. Gaming is finally fun again for me and de-stressing.

I love this. Games are supposed to be de-stressing and makes us happy, and new releases WILL still be there in years to come. I'm glad you are fun with games again, it's still within all of us. THAT is the point of this video. Thank you for watching, and leaving a comment. Have an awesome dayy.

It took me around 20-ish years to play through Metroid Prime. I’ve owned the game more or less since it first came out in 2002, and I tried probably over a dozen times to play it throughout the years, and only in 2022 did I finally manage to finish it and discover that I genuinely really like it and think it’s a very great title. The reason it took so long is because I would only boot it up whenever I was “feeling” like playing Metroid Prime, and surprise-surprise, I only felt like playing the game about one day in an entire year. I start a new file, I finish the tutorial, then I set the game down to continue it tomorrow. Tomorrow never came, a year or two goes by. I start a new file, I finish the tutorial, then I set the game down to continue it tomorrow. Tomorrow never came, a year or two goes by. I start a new file… And this isn’t the only game I’ve experienced this with. There are many games that have been like that. Sometimes I’m feeling really enthusiastic about replaying an old favorite and making a plan to 100% it. Then three days later, I’m off playing something else and not even thinking about that other game anymore. Like the video says, discipline is important. You shouldn’t force yourself to play a game if you’re having a bad time with it, but you also shouldn’t give into impulses every single time you sit down to game. As I would describe it: treat your gaming library as a passion project and not as a junk food closet.

Dude. thank you for sharing this! Metroid Prime used to give me nightmares so I completed it like 6 years after I bought it. What I like the most about you comment is that you sat down, gave it a good attempt, and loved it. THAT is the point of this video. We don't complete new games for whatever reason, but if choose a really good title, and have the discipline to finish them, we can STLL have fun like when we were younger. Thank you for watching the video and leaving this awesome comment. Definetly can relate

If those games are what make you happy, do your thing man! However if some part of you is itching to experiment those games for the first time, like when you were younger, you STILL can get that feeling. Just try to pick a reallyyy good game and play it. It's still withing all of us haha. Than you for watching the video and leaving a comment bro!

Wow, this was a hit in the stomache haha. I'm for sure that guy that buys a game as a 34 year adult and plays during the hype train. And also the fact that I played a lot in my teenage years, It has shaped which games I play as an adult and also how my coping mechanism works, as soon as I'm overstressed, the game I played is classic wow/private server vanilla, that's my default game and has always been. I'm trying to get out of it and I finally understand how important the teenage years is for a human being, I wish it had more to do with working and being productive doing those years instead of gaming.

I'm glad you can relate brother. I've found out that these type of stories are more common than we think. In the end, play whatever makes you happy and helps you relax. But, i want to say that new games can still give us that feeling of absolute happiness. We just need to be selective and intentional. Thank you for watching and leaving a comment! Hope you are having an awesome dayy

Lately I also consider the genres. For example I really love watching soulslikes and survival horrors (like Silent Hill) on youtube, but I rarely have fun actually playing them.

This is a good point! Personally I stoped watching other people play because I realized I would settle for that instead of experiencing it for myself. But I agree that some genres are more suitable than others

Hit the nail on the head, I keep buying new games then just going back to the same ones. I'm currently forcing myself to play a lot of smaller games to try recover my passion and finish more.

Thank you for sharing man! It sounds ugly, but you do have to "force" yourself sometimes, in order to build that discipline, but in my experience, it has been 100% worth it. Only if the game is really good and you actually want to play it though. Thank you for watching & leaving a comment. Have an awesome dayy

This is so true. The point of this video is to reflect on what does that mean? Is it that we don't enjoy gaming anymore? Or maybe we can adjust 1 or 2 things in order to make it as fun as we want. The later has worked for me. Thank you for watching and leaving a comment on the video!

It's the most important one for me as well. If you really want to play, organize your priorities and turn that console / PC on. It will get easier.... But, if the game it's boring, then you don't owe it to anybody! Thank you for watching the video, and leaving a comment bro!
