Ignorance is bliss. I've only got schoolgirl French in UK. - which doesn't amount to much. Have very limited knowledge of classical music, although I'm interested in it. I can only say that I've got an ear for music ie I can hear some pieces , chords which make me think of Rufus's rendering of Shakespeare's Sonnets. Anyway, I think it's all wonderful. Love Rufus. xo

I'm not saying he shouldn't sing this piece. It's fun and I like to hear the different interpretation. He DOES, however, say the WRONG lyrics. For example, he says "En proie me désespérer" in stead of "En CROIS me désespérer." Not a big difference in text, except he said: "Plague me with despair" instead of "believe that I despair."

Sounds strange she sings this song and not knowing the meaning of which has not managed to cling to God and quit drugs.

@innerpig You're right, he doesn't attempt classical. He doesn't contribute to it either though. I would say he's too smart to even try. He's pop/ rock. He contributes to his own genre.

That being said. It's a beautiful pop arrangement of the aria. Very nicely done.

@Stevie586 Ummm... The reverb is supposed to happen. She's performing in stadiums/arenas and concert halls, in which the sound travels differently. If they are really doing stuff with her vocals, then she would sound perfectly in her concerts!

@adamps16 What do you want to respond to such a comment? First of all, soprano, mezzo and alto are usually for OPERA singing(that means women singing most of the time in their head voice).It does not really work for pop singer, cause some pop female can sing with a very low chest voice, have a very deep tone,and at the same time can hit whistle notes(Mariah was a good example of that and that does not make her a coloratura soprano for me).Whitney's chest voice has always been way too heavy

@theoneandonly2503 Whitney is a soprano she is deemed a mezzo soprano or what ever it's called i remember from seeing a few interviews when they called her that if that is the right term i'm not sure all i know is somewhere in her title is the word soprano.

Do you lot know anything about music? Whitney was never a soprano...how can you expect her to have such a high voice now, after all these years of abuse, and neglect. God bless her, she will get back to somewhere near where she was...this is someone speaking who had their concert of whitney in scotland cancelled, cos she was not up to it...still love her though...will go next time she comes back

@kmaur21 The notes you are talking about are squeals, screams (My name is not susan simple truth concert) or were done when Whitney was sick, it was a vocal problem, so it was not a whistle register at all, no vibrato, beauty or controle over that. Whitney truly is one of the BEST voice ever, and she doesn't need whistle to be called the VOICE, but saying Whitney has a whistle register is stupuid. Her highest note in head voice is around C#6

Look I know you, I know you are obsessed with the fact of Whitney being a soprano (or super soprano in some of your comments), but she is NOT a soprano, and not at all a coloratura. In an opera singing career, I bet she would have been A MEZZO with her head voice, and not a soprano, or at least not a coloratura, have you heard a coloratura soprano once in your life? I bet NO, soprano coloratura are the highest sopranos and Whitney highest note is c6...

When she starts the song, you can almost hear the old Whitney voice. Hopefully after a good rest Whitney will be 100% next year. I hear there is another tour in the works for 2012. And a few dates for 2010 in smaller theatres in 2011.

@pcasable None of today's singer have a better vibrato, Whitney need to have her belting register back and some head notes and she can rival Celine Dion excellent voice today!Cause Celine still has a very great range and great technique. Not even talking of Mariah, who always LIPsync the hardest parts. I think she can be the best singer of today.
