I'm on the flip side- an American family using an Australian-based math curriculum (CTC math). I think it teaches based on American currency, but there are little differences in terminology; like Length x Breadth, rather than Length x Width. Doesn't bother us a bit, though! We love it and have used it for years.

I'm going to begin homeschooling just for Term 1 on a trial basis. She has autism and adhd and possibly pda, which is not diagnosable in Australia. She isn't eligible for funding or any interventions because she is so high functioning, intelligent and masks so heavily in the classroom. However, she does not cope in a room with 25 other kids and can't do group work as she doesn't have control, so schooling is not working. I am so excited about homeschooling, but I'm very anxious about whether it will work out. I'm a teacher so I am excited to put the time and effort in to my own child rather than everyone else's ❤

We're on the $1.99 trial and I'm just trying to figure out if I can turn off the my world access until they finish their learning path. I wish you could use this without the my world at all!

So glad to have found your channel! My kids are in a Christian school but we will likely be homeschooling next year. I actually went to the BJU schools in South Carolina from K5 all the way through college 😆 but after having gone all through the schools, I want a bit more of an offline option that is flexible to include extras, unit studies, but is still very solid academically and gospel centered. I loved school but hated leaving the house, I didn’t want to be there. I’m adult now and I want to star classes online and get different certificates and diploma. I can not believe you went through all of that. I can't imagine how it felt to fear death and fear the possibility of your children growing up without a mother. Josie is SO BEAUTIFUL I can't even handle it! The way your husband swoons at her is so precious. God bless your family. I almost died with my first in 2021. I had undiagnosed placenta accreta and hemorrhaged after baby was born. I had to go for emergency surgery to remove the placenta and I also lost over 2L and had a transfusion of 2L. At the time my husband and I didn't realize how serious the situation was. I at least knew my baby was perfectly fine too, so when they took me to surgery it didn't even occur to me that I might not wake up. The medical team was top notch and here I am today! We were very afraid to have our second earlier this year 2024, but we knew we would regret not trying. I also had complications- placenta previa and placenta accreta again, though it was much less serious this time and I did not require a transfusion. Wow. Thinking back on all of it I just praise Jesus for carrying us through. I've been following you for a while and your content is really helping me feel more prepared to start homeschooling both my kids next year. So glad you have been relieved of the majority of your pregnancy related health issues. Take care and enjoy that sweet sweet baby of yours!

We’ve been using Gather Round for years and have done over a dozen units. We’ve also tried more subject-oriented homeschools (like Mi Academy, Easy Peasy Homeschool, and a few others). It’s important to keep in mind Gather Round is primarily topic-based, not subject-based. If you’re looking for a traditional all-around school with time spent in math, grammar, social studies, geography, science, history, and your usual school subjects, this is not the curriculum you’re looking for. But if your kid is really interested in oceans or ancient history or careers or Africa, this is a great fit. You will spend 4-5 weeks on that topic and have assignments in various subjects each day. Keep in mind you WILL need to supplement math. GRHS is beta testing math books but it is not standard with the units. It’s a good fit for people that want flexibility and don’t want a rigid structure. It’s also good for kids that want to dive deep into specific topics, not school subjects. It’s not good for parents that want/need a structured curriculum or want their kids to self-start. Each lesson has a “lecture” portion prior to kids doing their assignments. Typical day for my 2nd grader (early elementary) is usually 1-1.5 hours, plus math (0.5 hours) Typical day for my middle schoolers is about 2.5-3 hours, plus math (0.5-1 hours).

Sadly most women are not fully informed of the risks of induction with placental abruption being one of them.

I dont believe its good to do induction if you've had c section, i could be wrong, but i had C-section first one and for the 2nd they said if he came on his own that's fine otherwise would have to be C-section because they can't do induction for that placenta detachment reason

Oh Josie you are just too cute!!! I’m so sorry you had a rough run during pregnancy and birth. I had cholestasis with my 1st 2 😭 just when I thought it couldn’t get any worse I had preeclampsia with my 3rd! 4th and 5th were a walk in the park 😅 haemorrhage sounds absolutely terrifying. How incredible to live in a country with excellent medical care. Sending lots of love to you from one Mum to another. It is hard but yes she is so worth it. ❤ recovery well Bec!

God has his hand on her. My second I had almost no warning she was coming & she came so quickly I had to deliver her myself (my husband & ambulance were on the way but she wouldn’t wait). The same pregnancy a few weeks before they thought she had a slight placental abruption around 34 weeks. She came out perfectly fine in both situations. I am grateful for God’s mercy & favor

I'm so happy you two are okay!! So sorry you had to go through that how scary!! I also have diffiicult pregnancies and the last two babies came out without breathing and most of mine were also in nicu. The post delivery night mare are the worse!! I kept having dreams I left the baby in the car and he stopped breathing.. praying for you guys
