I still miss my 350, had a 2016 in red. Amazing sound, crazy fun to drive but burned 1L of oil per 350km’s on average so it had to go unfortunately. Still one of the best handling cars I’ve owned.
Awesome video.
Can u make some soa brackets? I'll take 5
@@joeycrookshanks2868 the printed ones can’t handle a lot of torque, I’ve broken two already, a pla and a pla carbon. I’ve moved to a metal one
@VS666 were did u find a metal 1 at can u send me a link. Or if u made 1? I can't stand cms
Enjoy it and sell it before warranty ends. I wanted the 2020 gt350 heritage but it's going to be a money pit. beautiful car though.
@@CollectorsLounge probably going c8 z06 cpo if I decide not to renew warranty
@@VS666 My friends mentioned the same thing. I prefer the c6 or c7 z06.
You had me at the statement "I'm going to go have wings and get drunk cuz this car is going to cost me a million dollars again" BTW, any wife that would support you with anything resembling that statement is a keeper.
@@CletusEinstein 🤣🤣🤣😉
That is not a Mustang it's a Shelby
I had a 2016 gt350 got rid of it as soon as I found a 2020 gt350R. So glad I did
Thanks for sharing, I’m loving my base GT even more
You had to own these new........Too many potential problems because of neglect by owners that are unaware of the procedures.. You just dont jump in one of these turn the key and rock...Get a 5.0 GT and if you want fast throw a huffer on it they take forced induction real well.jUST AN ADDED NOTE HAD THEY DESIGNATED 1 GUY IN THE DEALERSHIPS TO GO OVER ALL THE PROCEDURES THE SAME GUY AND MAKE HIM CERTIFIED BY THE FACTORY LIKE THE GERMANS. THERE WOULD HAVE BEEN A LOT LESS PROBLEMS WITH THESE.
Thanks if I guy i will get heavy warranty
Thanks for the video. It just confirms my decision to go with a LS7 Z06 Corvette instead of a GT350. I heard the GT 350s were plagued by numerous problems Gen one and GEN two. I went ahead and fixed my valve guides and changed my harmonic balancer, and all I have is loads of fun with the Z06.
Were can i get ur rework kit?????

Thank YOU SOOOO MUCH!!! I am definitely staying away from these cars. I don't want to sound mean but you own a piece of shit for a car..... I have a gen raptor and a 13 gt500 NO PROBLEM EVER with each. I was seriously looking to get a 350R but not after seeing your video. What you have is basically an early 70s muscle car that has been home built because that is the same experience you get every time you take it for a drive wondering what is going to break now. Best of luck to you
Man I’m considering of getting 2020 or 2019 gt350 but hearing all this bs I feel like the gt500 would be best for me.
I put 30k miles on mine. replaced the Air conditioner twice. thats it. Traded it in and got 46k for it.
Thank you!! Helped me out so much. Best “real world in depth” video I’ve seen on RUclips. My nb4+ will be here tomorrow. I wonder why more rpm. Wasn’t expecting to hear that. I’ll gladly take it.
@@ty_ranic3197 happy to help! I love this remote I just converted my 4WD to Mod and the extra tuning options are a huge help
mustang was my dream car in general, and gt 350 in particular, especially for 8250 rpm, i was about to sell my v8 8250 rpm audi rs5 and buy gt 350, god protected me for not doing that. thank you for your valuable input
Ok but thats why people should only buy stuff they can afford repair, especially with high performance engines. Its pne thing to afford a purchase but its another to own it. Im financially very well but would still not consider this car because im not that rich that money doesent matter to me at all to keep spilling big checks into a car that i dont really need and its just a weekend car.
I always wanted a gt350 but I couldn’t afford it so a got a 2023 Mach 1 thank god no problems at all
i have had 2 shelby gt350s i still have one now both first gens. These cars need a proper break in period which requires you to follow the instructions in the manual book and whats even more crucial is warming up the car to the right temperatures before even considering of going full throttle. even in the summer when its plus 30 outside i let the car warm up and it takes around 25 - 30 minutes to fully warm up. most people have not followed these 2 procedures and hence the engine issues. i know gen 1 motors with over 90k miles on them with 0 issues. some people have understood this and their cars run just fine.
I just read the headline and I can tell you from my friends' experiences, absolutely NEVER buy a GT350. Ever. The engine will blow up. It's not a matter of "if", but "when". One of my friend's had a GT350R that spun a rod bearing at VIR and Ford refused to warranty it because, get this, he added Ford Performance rear suspension upgrades! No kidding. He even got Ford Performance to issue a letter saying that the upgrades that he performed did not impact the engine, and Ford STILL refused to fix it! Another friend of mine has a "1 of 37" 2015 GT350R. His engine blew up 2 weeks ago. Never, ever, ever, never ever buy a GT350. Ever.
phew, sounds like a fucking nightmare. that suspension shit would be worthy of fighting, that's classic magnuson moss
@@VS666 He tried to fight it, but Ford would have cost him tens of thousands in lawyer fees... so he did what any sane man would do.. he sent the car to Capaldi Racing in Michigan, where they stripped it down to bare metal, added an Aluminator crate engine, and turned it into the baddest mofo on the road course!
Thanks!…. Great video. Scary stuff😮
Any running videos yet?
@@Strengthoftenmen hey buddy, I was kicking myself I forgot to get running footage at this place I was at in Long Beach WA, truly epic spot! Didn’t have any issues either just broke a link at the very end of the day but it performed very well and surprised me to say the least
@ thanks man, that’s great to hear. I just bought an ascent fusion yesterday (waiting for it to ship) so excited to see any upgrades I could potentially do!
wouldd have been better to see that sexy lady drive it around lol
Nice build sir
Alright i will just stay with my s2k and supercharge it. Sounds like less headaches
This is a really great video. Also good to gear a gen 2 video story. No BS, so thank you for sharing the full experience. I have 2016 GT that I treat as a weekend car(bought new), have done probably 10 track days with it. Its pretty solid. I've had the itch to go grab a Gen 2 350R. I know I will absolutely love the car, but man, the risks are so high it seems. If I can get an extended warranty then that's a different story. I've been drooling over the 350 since I bought my GT. I remember in 2020 right before stupid car prices started, there was a brand new 350 track package in Bellevue for 48K....Yes, 48K. I will forever be mad that I didnt buy it.
@Varg, the main question I guess that you didnt answer is, does the car give you enough joy driving it that you find it worth the headaches you've gone through?
@@DonPatr0L wow 48k for a 2020 that’s incredible. I kick myself now seeing what low mileage mint conditions 2020 models are going for. to answer your question yes, this car is absolutely incredible and scratches every itch I could ever need from an enthusiast car. having said that as long as the warranty keeps me covered I won’t change my opinion. No car is worth going more than its value in debt for!
@@VS666 you mentioned the extended warranty option in your video. I'm playing with the idea of getting a really low mileage 2019 R and safely assuming it's off the manufacturer warranty. Is that one you mentioned covering 350 owners from what you've looked into?
I'm in the same boat. I have a 2016 GT (bought new also) which is in mint condition as it's a weekend car (under 14K miles). I've only ever had to do oil changes, still got original brakes that still bite really good. Have been tempted to get a GT350 so many times but videos like this always scare me away as I have had no issues with my GT.
@@jaysworld5378 You and I are pretty much the same. Mine is a PP1 with the FP track handling pack that I put on it. Its a great car. I've done probably 10 hours of track time with it. Just oil on the engine/trans/diff. Brakes, and hubs. The car has been completely reasonable. Im terrified of the failure of the GT350. I did find out today though that actual extended warranties can be approved after the manuf has expired. Through ford. I just got a quote for an R. 3 years/18k miles is $2,200. Im feeling confident
I'm currently debating a 2016 GT350 with the track package and a Whipple supercharger. The car looks clean with just over 10,000 miles. Do you have any thoughts on running these cars with the Whipple?
My advice was to not buy these out of warranty and/or with forced induction on them. Low miles considering I still wouldn't do it, it's all fun and games until you have to replace this engine or get any work done on it. Most shops won't touch these unless they're a performance shop.
@@VS666okay, thanks for the sound explanation.
I wouldn't do it unless that was something you planned to do in long run and you're getting everything cheap. Personally, I have been looking at 03-04 Cobra's, GT500's, GT350's, right now I am stuck on a 2012 GT500 I found for 35k and low miles that's factory down to the mufflers. 2012 GT500's are hidden gems in my book, you get the aluminum block, basically all issues from 07-10 have been worked out with the 5.4. You get 550HP right out of the box, but with basic upgrades, and cams(I want cams) you can have over 600 to tire and get that classic American v8 lope with cams installed... no need for silly ghost cams or trying to do lockout kits to get the lope. Plus, they're very affordable! Basically, same price as a gen3 coyote car with low miles. Also, you swap taillights of a 12 and it looks just like a 13-14, in my book it's win - win.
@ hey, thanks for the insight. I’ll have to pay closer attention to the 2012’s.
Thanks Loved the honesty
So, it sounds like you got a beat on GT350. Did you know how many owners had this car before you bought it? It's not uncommon to have some cars with 4 owners before someone buys it! And that is insane! So, the engine was pulled, then I'm sure the techs cocked up the wiring harness, which is why you needed that replaced after. It's really too bad that you had to deal with all this BS! There are a LOT of GT350 owners out there that have no oil consumption or issues with the car. I think you just got a car that was hammer to fuck first, cleaned up super well then you bought it during CoVid when someone evidently unloaded it, to get out from under the huge monthly payment. This is of course pure speculation on my part, but it's what I think, in my opinion. I think the take away for people looking to buy one of these cars is.... To take a hard look at it, do research on what to look for, check for records, look at how many owners the car had and then go from there. Thanks for the video, shame you had to deal with all those problems.
@@BarnStangz yeah like I mentioned in the video I didn’t notice any oil consumption issues until months later when I did my first track day, probably was on its way out
I was thinking about buying a similar Mustang , but after watching your story and seeing all the other stores about these cars. I decided to stick with my 2015 Toyota Camry V6 that hasn’t cost me anything more than some oil changes & a new battery , and I am at 50K miles. I would say buy a Japanese engineered car going forward . As they seem to make a better product.
Click bait.
I bought a 2015 mustang GT in 2018 from Carmax with the 50 yr anniversary package. It only had 5000 miles on it. The only issue was there was metal corrosion on the hood that had bubble up on the paint. So they painted the hood before I would except the car. 2 yrs later it happened again on the hood. So then carmax payed to replace the hood. Now 2024 I had to pay to have the whole car painted with only 40,000 miles on it. I absolutely love this car and to me it's worth it. Anyways if you own a mustang be prepared to spend money on it.
Wow!!!! Now! That's what I call bad luck.... Hope that is the end of the story best of luck.
I’d buy the everything I need to go servo on axel
Good times. I'll stick with my 22 Mach 1
Original owner of a 2020 Gt350 HE. 40k miles. Only had oil changes done. I dont track mine but it has gone 176mph.
Mayhem.... unreal.
So moral of the story, is buy one from someone like you that has had all this mess fixed already.
This is coming from a ford man, wtf ? Im so glad i went with the coyote instead, too much issues to be worth it. A whole engine replacement, and transmission replacement under 50k miles? Im good 🫣🫡
I was about to buy one whit like 30k miles because the price was good I know why now ! Never mind 😅 but I probably will get one if it is still under warranty! Maybe

Thank you for the reality check brother haha. I've been wanting to trade in my 15 GT premium for a GT350 but I think I'm gonna go the Raptor route. Thanks man. It's a special car for sure!
Wow that a common problem, my son had all the same issues, and they were guessing on it , changing sensors and alternator 2 times. You would think with them having this problem they could share their knowledge and fix the car right the first time
I'm regretting trading my 2016 mustang gt for my 2017 gt 350 Shelby now. I don't even want to drive it anymore, so many horrible things can go wrong with it. I should have done more research.
Always wanted one but knew about all the crap with them and i could never own a stang and not mod the hell out of it so stayed away... probably the right choice but a painful one lol
Which models of 350's had 2nd gen motors?
