Sturgis Trip Part 6 - Deadwood, Spearfish Canyon, The Boar's Nest and Bike troubles!!
Mostly everyone who reviews bikes, especially cruisers, always mention hp and tq and displacement, but never about actual engine, is it push rod- OHV(Harley) or its OHC(Indian), how that reflects RPMs on bike, why does Indian has bigger radiator - because can operate for a long period of time on high RPMs... Or rear suspension is air adjustable on Indian... should be little bit more technical explanations then only what everyone already knows.
Thanks for the video. I tried 40 psi front and found the ride too harsh, so I settled in on 38 for now.
@@NormKohn I was actually told by dealer 38-40 front and 40-42 rear so that will still help!
Only had Harley’s , Indian is interesting but they are just ugly at the end of the day.
Have you taken one for a ride?
I um thought um your um video um was um good um.
Um…thanks?
@@dropbearmotoI got to 3:56 and counted 26 times you said "um".
Indian isn't the oldest motorcycle comapny. Its the oldest trademark name that has been bought and sold through the years. It's a rebadged Victory or Polaris. Don't take on history that isn't theirs. I've owned a victory Hammer and there's nothing bad to say about Polaris, but the shell game of how old they are is ridiculous and stupid.
@@CharlieMallow I did try to say it with irony 😂
Question, is there a recall on windshield plastic brace????
@@keitharmstrong3189 it was on a bushing in the motor which I think was updated from plastic to brass. Became standard in some 2023 models but a service advisory was issued for 2020-2023 models. Advisory number I think was ISA-23-01-B
I have a 2020 challenger, I only have a Samsung mobile, does that mean maps on the challenger will not work unless I have a apple mobile phone? Cheers from Australia.
@@seedyngreedy735 I believe it supports android 12 and above, but have only had experience with apple CarPlay myself!
Both bikes looks badass
@@tabootaboo384 thank you! You can’t go wrong with either! 🤘
I ride a 2016 Victory Hammer and except for a defective O2 sensor I've had no issues. It uses an old-school key and after two seconds I'm hitting the starter button. There really shouldn't be a lag on a modern bike and I hope Indian gets this corrected. I really like the Scout lineup.
Nice bike! I should clarify - you can just ride off and most of us do. Every so often probably good to let it fully boot but most times I just go and the screen comes on several seconds later! 🤘
Guys this are not indias, they die a long time ago, those are polaris.
@@FrankValiente-ng4mk definitely not “indias” 😂

Finally a review for us taller riders. I've been scouring the internet and finding minimal info for my ST. Thanks!

First video I've watched from your channel. You got a new subscriber! Thanks for sharing. I look forward to future vids! I'm still looking through your playlists to see if you have a specific video talking about it...just in case you don't, I'll ask my questions here: 1.) What exhaust setup are you running? 2.) Which bag and how was it secured on your bike?
@@Eddys_World42 thanks very much mate! Appreciate you subscribing and glad you enjoyed it! Exhaust is a Lloydz x Sawcki. There is a full review on the channel and a video with all the other mods on the Challenger. The bag is actually a Harley Davidson one! Onyx Touring Bag! Had it for several years and is awesome. Can either fit on a bag rack behind a sissy bar or on the passenger seat, both ways it straps to the Sissy Bar! More info in Sturgis Part 12 I think! 🤘
The way to do the Corbin seat is to go to the factory in Hollister, California, and have it custom built for you.
@@NorCal-refrigeration Long ride from FL But saw a video on this and wish I was closer!
Good video, thanks for sharing this with the community. A tool that helps me when I’m setting up my suspension on my own is the Motool Slacker. Had it for years, makes measuring much easier by yourself 👍 you can check them out here @SlackerUSA

Best way that I was taught when racing at Phillip Island was just one adjustment per lap, bring it back to the pits and discuss your feedback and make another adjustment. Keep repeating until the bike is as per your liking. Lap times are a great indicator to support your own personal preference. The same advice still applies to the road. Best way is use home as your starting point, ride the same route and return for an adjustment. One click at a time and repeat process until you’re comfortable with the settings. Never adjust more than one setting at a time (unless you 100% know what you are doing) as if you do and it’s still not where you want it you can lose track of what worked and what didn’t. To this very day I’ve been setting up others bikes for them and the feedback has always been it’s now like riding a completely different bike from purchase in a good way.
@@marcusgeorge1825 solid gold advice advice right there! Thank you mate! Phillip Island one of my all time favourite tracks too! 🤘
@ I’m living in Melbourne so it makes it easier to get too.
Great video Richard and a good job of explaining the how and the why’s. Suspension tuning is an art form and is different for all riders. Only 99% of all riders know how to properly set suspension up and then adjust it to keep it consistent when the fluids start to age before they need replacing. Dealerships will not set these up for you from a legal perspective. If you think about it then I’m sure you’ll understand. Especially in the states. For the rear, static sag also needs to be included.
Thank you! Agree on the art form - totally! I never thought about the legality of setting it up, but surely the service department is covered to do it? Appreciate your comments! 🤘
My bike is only marked on one side for the front suspension. Plus the damping on the right is a flat head and the left is some sort of security head.
@@Mortiz350 That is correct! Front preload is on left fork and you need a 17mm socket or wrench to adjust it - watch the front preload section of the video. Damping is on the right - 17mm for compression same process as preload, rebound is marked and you will need that flat head. Watch the rear damping section! 🤘
Thank you for that video Dbm
@@mattu5421 no worries! 🤘
Very informative. Great video!

Don't own a challenger but I'm on my second Springfield. Great bike. That being said, they need to improve their electronics. Bike never left me stranded. Just little things
Nice! Love the Springfield! 🤘
Looking good! Kicking around the idea of a T bar set up on my CVO ST, I really like the raw bar look on the bike! Enjoy the time crushing miles with the new set up. 👍👊
@@erichh3663 thanks! Very happy with the way it came out, looks even better in person! The new position is a game changer though, you will not regret it! 🤘
Thank you for doing this video it was most helpful. The hardest bit was cutting an allen key down made the exhaust bracket studding feel like it's made from cheese in comparison lol. Enjoying your vids , keep up the good work. Rod from UK.
@@RodneyGale thanks Rod, appreciate that! Is a bit of an effort to change the exhaust bracket for the S&S but gotta be worth it to get rid of that unsprung weight! Ride safe mate 🤘
How does the 101 compares to the Springfield/Dark Horse?
@@yakarime if you are taller and wanting to go long distance really crushing miles I would go the Springfield with the bigger size and the storage, but if you wanna rip around on something fast and nimble, you will not be able to wipe the smile off your face from the 101 🤘
Much obliged well put 🙏
Sound so good MYSTRO!!! 😎👍
@@Cary-sm8wu 🙏😂
Definitely agree with you about bar placement and handgrip position for the standard Road Glide. As a 6’ tall rider with longer arms, the stock setup works well. Good choice on the bar and riser combo!
@@in.the.wind.sc72 thanks! Yeah, always amazed me how Indian and Harley put those low bars on the Challenger and RG! HD got it right on the 24s 🤘
I ordered one in black last week
@@Pferd2503 congratulations! They look awesome!
I think the technology on the Scout leaves the Harley in its dust.
@@AgricUltra that is for sure, but can be a good thing or a bad thing depending on if that is your thing or not! 🤘
@ totally. I’m not quite ready, but these are actually the two I’m considering (albeit Sport Scout rather than 101). It was always going to be the Low Rider, but I cannot ignore how much more modern the Indian is. For me, it’s winning, although there’s a Harley dealer on my doorstep and the Indian dealer is a 1,000km round trip, so I need to consider that too.
Great video. It helped me a lot with my install. I had considered cutting that swing arm bolt like you did or loosening it but instead I was able to position it enough that I only needed about a quarter inch or less of room to get that room to get that bracket out. I was able to put a chunk of 2x4 and a pry bar to get just enough room to get the bracket out. I didn't have to cut my Bolt
@@dcharger69 nice! Glad it helped, I did end up taking more off the bolt as I didn’t like the length, just with a hacksaw, but used a deburing bit to clean it up, so that is an option if you want it shorter! 🤘
How was Bert’s and OCC?
Definitely worth a ride over for lunch anytime - the rally is pretty small but a ton of cool bikes as you can imagine and some good bands! 🤘
@ I gotta get over there and check it out.
