"5 minutes in photoshop" - As a graphic artist that uses photoshop regularly, I can tell you that alternate interpretation was not a "five minute" design unless it was made with AI (and I'm not sure why that would be preferable here). Furthermore, I might be in the minority, but I think Riot did a really solid job designing their frames for this upcoming TCG and I don't agree that this fan design is better. It isn't a bad reinterpretation, but it lacks polish and is breaking some fundamental rules of graphic design (The "unforgiven" text is pushing right up against the bottom of the illustration, the circles that contain the symbols are unnecessarily large, the frame border is WAY too thin to get printed consistently, etc..) I also really like the simplicity of the card back design Riot has shared. I think it shows a lot of awareness for what is currently trending in the genre. My guess is Riot is planning to infiltrate the asian TCG market which is why their frames more closely resemble something like One Piece or Digimon. One thing to consider about the current TCG market is how far it has evolved in the past five years. The trends that were popular in 2010 are no longer popular now and in order for a game to reach a mass audience, it needs to feel approachable. Clarity is SEVERELY underrated in graphic design for gaming and these designs are very clear.

The template looks very similar to One Piece TCG. And while I do think it looks like shit, OP TCG has been selling like hot cake for the last 2 years so who knows?

With all the backlash they've received, I can't imagine that the tcg will be shit. They deliver everytime and I'm confident that we haven't seen the endproduct.

Any chance you have a written step by step tutorial? I think I understand from the video but it can get a bit confusing and a written step by step guide would be easier to reference. My game is coming out soon and I want to follow up the starter decks with boosters. One thing I don't understand is why you have to make 3 of the same rarity class, couldn't you just put like 4 copies of one card and 4 copies of another and just 1 or 2 of the one you want to be super rare so it would be a 2/8 chance of getting the rare? Would be nice if TGC would just let you specify how many cards you want in the pack and they would just randomly pull from each category the amount of each rarity per pack, So you could have 10 commons, 8 uncommon, 6 Rare, 3 Legendary, and 1 Super Rare and then cards per pack be 10 and you specify you want 4 common, 3 uncommon, 2 rare and 1 Legendary, Put the Super Rare as a Legendary class so you have 1 in 4 chance of getting it. Add more copies to increase rarity basically without making multiple Uncommon classes like you did. Been almost 3 years since this vid and they still haven't changed anything sadly.

I'm using ChatGTP for my TCG, but I use it more like an employee with a lot of insight and overview. The basic idea is done by me and then I started to polish & fix here and there in communication with ChatGPT. All in all: If you can't do it on your own, AI won't help either. It's just like with the artwork: If you don't know what you want, then only incoherent crap will be generated. For info: It's called PHOTOshop.... not CREATIONshop. When will people understand, that photoshop is the worst tool fo design? lol

AI? how about you hire a real artist

This game is presented quite professionally, It eluded me at first why there was no credit of an illustrator, on the cards or their website until I became pretty confident that they're using AI art!! Personally, I think they should be more upfront on their website about their use of AI art, but other than that I'm delighted to see the game's formality!!

You have got to balance your voice vs the background music. Your content may have been great, but your background music overrode your muffled voice to the point where I couldn't pay attention to anything you were saying.

Call of Cthulhu is one of the best card games I ever played. It went on to be the Call of Cthulhu LCG so you can get a huge bulk of it quite easy and quite cheap now... And even though it's no longer supported, I highly highly recommend it... Or... The entire database is online so you could proxy the whole thing and give it a shot... ;) Great list...

Lol. Using AI to "enhance" their works is still using AI, that is absolutely trained off of other artists works, without their consent. I like my games to have integrity. Any game that uses AI isnt worth your time or money.

Thank you for your video! im making my own tcg right now. Some of the cards will be holographic, and some others will be holo+textured (like on pokemon full arts), but im not finding any informations about the last point online. Also i want to control which parts of the card will be holographic and not (for example, the background will be holo and not the text, etc...). I wanted to know if these companies provide these services, and if they do, what's the process? also, are there other websites? I found an instagram account called creative.holo or something like that, which actually print really cool textured and holo cards, but it seems very expensive. Also, last question : my tcg is about 60 cards, about 10 of them will be holo, and ~15 holo+textured. What would be the price for it? Im sorry if my questions are unclear, or if they've already been answered in the vid, im not english TT. I'll join the discord to find more info anyway.

You can overflow your capacity but that'll grant the opponent more resources as tradeoff You didn't highlight the key innovation in Duel Masters: any card can become land. This does remove tutors, so my solution would be to have "non-basic lands" but without summoning sickness

Canva might be a great way to make a game once you’ve already done the art.

I've been using AI for the card art for my TCG. I'm not an artist, and definitely can't afford any lol. It still took some work on my end to get the AI to make the art consistent in style, but it's been extremely helpful. Also can be useful for getting card ideas (power, special abilities, etc). AI will be a helpful tool for many independent creators and only become more and more helpful as time goes on.
