@technogeko1985 thank you. I recently acquired a gen7 that I'm refurbishing for personal home use. I don't know if these are upgradeable beyond ILO3 or what the latest BIOS / firmware is. Don't really want to splurge for the licensing as this won't be connected to the internet. I appreciate your help and can defray the expense.

@@technogeko1985 are the ethernet ports on them slow. I have noticed they can be because it goes hub-mesh/pod and then to computer so can be slow because this link. Used to have a power line adapter and it sucked

So basically just do the test in the far end room and tell them speed is slow and if they still don’t give tell them you going to cancel the contract as this is part of the contract to give you pod’s.

They were trying to be funny with me and I’ve told them before Ive got the contract you told me I can get 3 pods and now if you don’t give cancel my contract and they sent one :)

Yes you can, however I am not what sort of setup you are trying to achive with the switch. If simple all on same VLAN then it should work.

You will need a trunk/tagged link between the switches and make sure required vlans are allowed on the trunk link.

Well, I may have found the solution. In System/Management/IP Configuration, I can change the switch's "Management VLAN" to another one in order to then remove Access from VLAN 1. Naturally, the default VLAN for switch "management" is "1". In the example you show, it would have to be changed to VLAN 10. After you change the "Management VLAN" you must reconnect to the switch using a PC that is a member of the newly identified "Management VLAN". (I haven't done this yet... after this change, I expect to be able to remove the Access from VLAN 1 for the identified port (in your example its either Ports 3 or 4). I will try this...and report back.

NOPE! That didn't work. What I did: 1. Created a new VLAN (ID=400). 2. Set Access for the PC (managing the switch) to "U" (couldn't remove Access from VLAN 1 - see above) 3. Tried to change the "Management VLAN" to 400 (see above) but I could not - "Error! Management access will be lost on MGMT VLAN configuration..." 4. Went to play golf. Does anyone have any ideas?

Hello so basically I was accessing the switch over WiFi. If you see the mgmt IP I have in the browser is 192.168.0.x which is from my home network. You need to keep the MGMT IP same as your Data Vlan i.e. from where you are going to manage the switch. Hope this helps.

So by default the switch comes with IP 192.168.0.239 or something so if you want the mgmt to a different IP then you will have to change this first. Also remember to route between the vlans you'll need a layer 3 devices. Best to leave the mgmt same on vlan 1 and then you can configure other ports on other vlans however mgmt will be possible from vlan 1 port.

Access port or untag port can be members of one data vlan and one Voice vlan. If you want more than one data vlans on a link then you will need to use a trunk or tagged port.

You will need to have a management vlan or just the vlan 1 and a port which is member of your mgmt/vlan1 then you will able to access the switch. If you've made all ports trunk/tagged then you probably need to consule in to the switch and the changes or reset to factory defaults.

@@technogeko1985 can access through the console there is no problem while accessing through the console As per you suggestion what should i do Should i connect my Lap with example port number 1 and untag that port then add that port to vlan 1 right

​@@relaxmed3517 so the port needs to be on your management vlan either vlan 1 or whatever you have Setup. You probably need to set a static IP on your machine on the same network as your vlan1/mgmt vlan to be able to ping or browse it. I never used this switch what is the mgmt IP by the way?

Depends what you will plug on those ports remember end devices don't understand trunking 802.1q packets. So if you have end devices then you will need to use untagged/access ports.
