UK to Scrap Warships: What Does the Future Hold for the Royal Navy?
The UK Ministry of Defence is retiring a number of military assets, including ships, helicopters and UAVs, to save GBP500 million to invest in other areas. This provides some indication of the further ‘difficult decisions’ that may come with the Strategic Defence Review, due in the first half of 2025.

Why Are Western Militaries Uninterested in Gun-Missile Systems?
Просмотров 8 тыс.4 часа назад
In general, gun missile systems refer to self-propelled air defense systems that integrate surface-to-air missiles, anti-aircraft guns, their fire control systems, and the vehicle platform into one unit, primarily used for field air defense and point defense. Theoretically, compared to traditional anti-aircraft guns or short-range air defense missiles, gun missile systems should provide more co...

Why Don't Air Force Fighter Jets Adopt Canard Wings?
Просмотров 82 тыс.14 часов назад
Some believe that the US military avoids using canard wings due to their inherent flaws, while others argue that only underpowered aircraft would require them. Both views have some merit, but neither is the fundamental reason why the US military avoids canards. In fact, the US has tested canard wings on many occasions, including on the F4, F5, F16, F18, and even the F35. In this video, we will ...

Canard’s downwash reduces the effective angle of attack of the wing. This reduces lift. On the other hand, the canards tip vortex supplies a ‘fence’ that inhibits span-wise flow on the wing,an idea similar to a leading edge dog tooth. This keeps the wing flying at greater AoA. Optimizing canard control thru all flight regimes …a challenge to say the least! The U.S. tail heavy approach must have some advantages. Likely it’s just a trade of preferences. But considering the F15 kill ratio is what? 120 to 0 U.S. must be doing something right. Cheers

A common saying in the army in the early 80s when i carried the 60. The 1st guy shot in an ambush is the guy carrying the 60. The second guy shot is the guy who goes to try and pick it up. A testament to the damage that weapon could inflict.

The M60 was a good weapon. It did have a tendency to overheat but as a door gun on our Hueys (UH1`s) it was great especially on our utility gunships. The airflow past the aircraft cooled then so effectively that you could bear down and fire them the way they do in the movies.

The M60E6 is a completely different beast than the old M60E4. They went all in on modernizing and ended up making a lighter and more reliable weapon than the M240B. This is why the US Army wants them. It's also possible they're using them as helicopter door guns.

I think the video misses the point that by scrapping unsustainable ships they free up much needed funds for new vessels and redistribute crew to other ships to keep them active and experienced. I agree that its risky but there are already replacement programs well under way for all the ships that wil be decommissioned. And the view that Labour is solely responsible for gutting the Royal Navy is just untrue. Lest we forget it was Thatcher that was severely cutting defence spending. The only reason that they turned back on that was because of a sudden war with Argentina, if not for that the Tories and Thatcher they would have done away with some of the carries as well. And in recent times when the Tories would do away with one of the new Queen Elizabeth carriers because of the budget cuts they enacted.

I think video hits the mark at what its true goal is, Labor Bad, Conservatives good. Facts are that Labor comissioned the building of the Queen Elizibeth Class Carriers under Tony Blair. The Scrapping of the Invincible Class & divestment of the Harrier force happened under The Cameron TORY government with George Osborne/Philip Hammond heading up UKMoD's Austerity drive. So this CREATOR IS A POLITICAL HACK. Truth is British Labor should have built "Light" Escort Carriers suitable for ASW/Air Defence Ops. BUT NOOO RN BRASS HAD TO HAVE "STRIKE" Carriers to Screw over the RAF. Wanna do Strike SSGN's & BOMBERS ARE WAY BETTER CAPABILITIES THAN 65,000 TON WHITE ELEPHANTS!!! WWIII is on the door step. That is the reason for the weapon renewal. I would argue that WWI never ended leading into WWII. WWII, while us being told it was over, just shifted to new enemies that were before working together. The US was infiltrated, Government, Schools and Industry. Not long ago they felt confident enough to show themselves. The FBI seems to have changed their opinion and policy on Communism especially with the election of Obama. They, our fearless leaders of the world, have established a world religion of sorts with going green, a one world language with ones and zeros, digital, and almost a one world currency, again digital. Pretty much all is left is that one world leader to come. Kind of reminds one of the Babylonian story doesn't it? Advise from an old man is be prepared both in physical and spiritual terms. It will be a rough road ahead.

Canada thought they got a good deal with the purchase of the 4 Upholder-class submarines which have since become money pits. They experienced litany of problems, especially electrical wiring, due to poor storage after being decommissioned by the Royal Navy. These types of problems are very expensive to fix; in hindsight, Canada would have been better served not to buy them and purchased new builds. So the answer should be NO, don't buy these used RN warships!

All that stuff you said about the M60 is a load of horse hooey. The first GPMG adopted by the US military was the BAR in WWII. The M60 was very reliable with minimum malfunctions, as long as you took proper care of it, like any other gun or weapons system, and was very well liked by the troops. I carried one for two years and I loved that gun. I would choose an M60 over a 240 or any other newer GP MG or SAW. And, the M60 was never taken fully out of service. It has remained in limited and specialized use with several upgrades over the years. If it's not clear to you why the military would order these M60s with upgrades, then you have no business attempting to make this video.

In five years time, or four years and six months or something like that the UK will have it's Trump moment and all three main parties, Tory, Labour and Liberal who have all become to a greater or lesser extent liberal left globalist international capitalists parties, will loose power that not even in coalition will they be able to form a government. The Reform Party will win most seats in parliament and usher in at least of decade of national capitalism and a repatriation of power to Westminster Parliament away from quangos, liberal international treaties and the supreme court. Devolution to the regional provinces will be undone and law making responsibility will be solely in Westminster parliament with MPs elected from the regions. And when this happens the Royal Navy and the British supply chain supporting it will be reinstated. Twenty four frigates and destroyers at least, a dozen submarines at least, two fleet aircraft carriers operating British designed and built aircraft, at least two assault carriers, two assault ships and the return of a fleet of manned mine hunter ships. Defence spending as a share of GPD will rise to 3 to 4 percent and overseas development will be renamed overseas aid and have the remit of development removed from its scope of work. The age of empire has gone and it is not the place of the UK to develop other countries, take note Cameron! The way the UK economy works will change too with an end to the low wage low skill open border liberal globalist dogma of fifty years and the UK will reindustrialise and become a manufacturing and science powerhouse once again. The feminisation of the culture and economy of the UK will end and the country will regain its sense of identity and purpose with young people incentivised to have nuclear families with child biith encouraged by the state and immigration capped to cover minimal genuine asylum cases only. Economic migrants and illegal migrants will be returned to their home countries within 12 months of entry to the UK with any laws or treaties preventing this abolished. The current situation is not sustainable and has NO democratic mandate.

These 70 ton MBT behemoths are obsolete dinosaurs. The Ukraine war has amply demonstrated their vulnerability. The M2 Bradley has become the star of the show in Ukraine as it routinely punches way above it's weight. This mirrors it's deadly performance in Desert Storm. The Bradley is lighter, more agile and easier to transport and maintain than the Abrams. State of the art targeting systems leverage the Bradley's offensive capabilities. MBTs in general are like Battle ships in WWII Pearl Harbor upset the navy's obsession with battle ships and forcefully established the new paradigm that aircraft carriers would lead the way. The Bradley is revered for its ability to protect it's 'crew when hit The 25 mm chain gun has even taken out Russia's vaunted T90.
