I love this, it's simple in colour and outline but so good. Odysseus splashing water on his face before going to see Penelope, Penelope taking his hand and see some of his journey, Athena and Telemachus looking in, the red threads reconnecting again. But why, the last part where she asks how long its been, 20 years, I love you, why are these lines missing?

This animatic is my favorite for this song because it understands that Penelope is ANGRY in this moment. That Odysseus would even ask her this of her. As if she could ever have fallen OUT of love with him. She plays things cool for a couple verses, responding with a request as impossible as his and when HE responds in anger she meets him in kind. 20 years of waiting and frustration and worry coming to a head in those vocals.

this whole thing is gorgeous but i ESPECIALLY love the ghibli hair when Ody gets pissed and when Penelope says ‘for you’!!!! you are so good at portraying emotion and building up the drama of the moment 😭 probs my fav animatic to come from the fandom

This is by far my favorite animatic of this song so far. Love that whole Odysseus being partly hidden by the hangings when Penelope asks if it’s him. And him wanting to hold her, but stepping back as if afraid of dirtying her. The whole her seeing the carnage in the halls, and the red he left on the map. The rocking chair to show when he left. The loom to show how she stalled. The way she tested him with something only Odysseus would know. Showcasing again why he fell in love with her and not someone like Helen. The way she was shouting her frustration to Odysseus and the world on how she’s been waiting these long 20 years, because it was all she could do. How she was scolding him and telling him that he’s hers. Athena and Telemachus seeing them hugging after confirming it’s Odysseus and that Penelope still loved him. It was magnificent.

In my favorite movie that tells this story, Athena is the one who alerted Penelope to her husbands' return and I was sad at t his part being left out of Epic--so nice to see her peeking in on them. She's kinda broken too, but she still loves Ody and probably Penelope too.

oh i love how you interpreted this song? Especially the olive tree??? How you read penelope saying "only my husband knew that, so I guess that makes you him" not as triumphant and joyful (which I initially read it as, and didnt much like) but *angry* - "how dare you question me? how dare you think i would not love you, whomever you became?" AND THEN AT THE END WHEN YOU COMBINE THE SYMBOLISM OF PENELOPES WEAVING AND THE STORY OF RED STRINGS OF FATE DURING HER BELT AT THE END. THREADS ALL OVR THE THRONE, ALL OVER THE PALACE. OP UR MIND and then the wind playing with her hair just before he enters, the direction coming from the door. the winds blew him home to her. And again when she moves to leave the room, and gestures for him to follow - the wind plays with his hair this time, urging him on.

I love how, when he's growing frustrated at what Penelope asks of him, even though he's agonizing over having to cut down the tree- he still looks like he's going to do it. Because she asked. Because she's his wife. It's gonna hurt and it's gonna suck but he's gonna fuckin figure it out.

I literally was just watching this just curious as to how it was looking and I enjoyed the art as well, that was looked like Penelope and Odysseus, when it was switching back forth. Lovely!

Odysseus looks older, tired, and worn here, which is a portrayal i haven't often seen in animatics. I'm always open to different interpretations of his character, but being apart from Penelope and Telemachus for 20 years likely contributed to his aged appearance, given the stress and hardships he's endured, nice work 👍
