The algorithm sent me here. I have no idea why, who you are or what your software does. I'm seriously confused.
It is GREAT to see you do in-depth tutorials for your plugin!!!!
LOVE your plug ins
Meno, I like to use mix monolith before my hardware 500 series inserts and after the inserts to make sure I have decent gain staging into my 500 series rack. Can you make a video using analog hardware and any strategies you like to use.
Sure thing, I'll do that soon...my next video will be on the human ear and how there's actually a very narrow range of ceilings/slopes it prefers...making equalization even easier than most believe it to be when working via noise.
@ayaicware Great I am trying to Better understand the white, pink, and brown, are these the ceilings, and the slopes as being the rate at which they decrease and increase. Your way Mr Meno seems to take all of the edge out of the standard or individualized Eq. Thank You Mr Meno, I so want to learn how to use the COS Pro. 🙏🏽🙏🏽
Thank you Meno for making updated videos.
Do we put these on every INDIVIDUAL track or just buses?
Individual tracks, effect tracks, stereo busses and master buss. Every noise element (everything you hear) is governed by the spectrum of noise and level-planes.
Great mixing series. Thank you
Awesome as usual!!
Do the same level plane "rules" apply to electronic club music - techno, house, electro etc?
They apply to all sonic energy...regardless of genre.
I LOVE LOVE LOVE my MONOLITH. so so effective
I learned so much by watching this video - THANK YOU! 2 Questions: - What‘s the thing with spectrum smoothing? - When I use Tape-Plugins from Waves: Should I take -30 LUFS (Hit the Tape) or -20 LUFS (Feeding Waves)? Again: Thank you!
Spectrum smoothing gives your spectrum varying degrees of resolution. At 100% it allows the EQ to function more as a Baxandall EQ...at 25% or 0% you can get different tonal results while conforming the EQ to a 50% ceiling (see "Understanding Your Ayaic Plugins" video). Happy mixing.
I actually learned more about mixing using Mix Monolith and learning about how it works from your content than in all the years before it. Thanks and can’t wait for the update!
Yes ,we need this video, thank you very much
Your plugins are so good. Great video!
Thanks a very lot sir!!! that's premium golden teaching 101sonic energy concept you just kindly offered me today !!! Whaaaaaat !!!!!! 3 and 5 beeing primary level planes whaaaaatttttt !!! how much more of a dummie could i ever be not knowing those basics ... matter of fact i "m curious how many more people aren't even thinking such logic exist !!! you said that's how energy works in this universe .... I am in this field about +20 years and the only time that i visually encounter this concept was in a very old but famous turorial, the planes were represented visually but not explained how just did ... You just unlocked a whole quest of mine wich is understanding sonic energy ... Man i own Ceiling of sounds pro wich i discovered through Dough Jenkins who did a great job demonstrating the power of your plugin... WIch i honestly didn't totally grasp ...But i think i find my mentor , your so honest by schooling us just like you did , i m glad i invest in your product . Do you teach classes , do you have some kind of eduction plan or something ???@&é" everybody else i want YOU to school me !!!!!! Never could imagine what this day would bring to me . i sincerly thank you , you just save me a this point. Keep on the good job and thanks for unfolding a brother out.
Thanks!!! Loving the plugins and working on understanding these concepts further
Re : Mix Monolith. Say you have occasional or sparse elements. Because they play less frequently, they will presumably read at a lower LUFS value. Wouldn't this mean they end up being too loud when matched? In other words, how does Mix Monolith handle intermittent silences?
An element, no matter how short or sparse it is, won't "read" at a lower LUFS than it is...it is the LUFS it is, silence isn't read as silence is 0 LUFS.
@@ayaicware So if I'm understanding correctly, there's a threshold under which the level is ignored?
Thanks, this presentation just re-energized me for wanting to dive deeper to understand the science of sound and to wrap my head around your plugins! I’ve owned monolith for years but never could wrap my head around it and this makes me want to give it another go lol.
I‘m really impressed by your knowledge! Your Plugins seem to be really amazing! I‘ll definitely get the Monolith, but I don‘t really understand the COS. Well, I know what Pink Noise, White Noise etc… are, but it‘s not clear for me, when to use a specific noise as a reference inside this plugin. Could you do a guide or something like that? Thank you and keep up your amazing work! 🙏
Please watch the "Universal Mixing part-2" / chapter "4 points of noise" for a better understanding on this.
@ Awesome! Thank you! 🙏
I love you guys. The next plugin should be automatic gain staging followed by a one-key mixing plugin that reads this signal. This will likely destroy Neutron 5. And if you do the mastering of it, it won't be eaten because of sweet.❤
Ok so post fader seems most ideal, putting them on the end of my buses seems like it'd be the best way for me to do this. All levels feeding into the mix monolith to respect the integrity of my mix balances. Hope this is correct?
Both pre/post fader position work great. That said, in post-fader position you can leave your fader mix as it is and use Mix Monolith to balance your levels to their nearest level-plane. In pre-fader position your DAW faders must be set/left at 0dB position and Mix Monolith will set levels to their perspective level-plane. Happy mixing.
After getting COS and Monolith, I absolutely love these plugins! They’re such time savers, and I’ve been raving about them to some of my industry friends. I’d love to see you develop a new plugin that balances tonal and transient differences for specific sound sources, like lead vocals, drum groups, etc. I often notice differences between my mix and a reference track, and I end up manually adjusting this in SplitEQ. Having a plugin that could handle this with just the press of a button would be incredible! 🙌🏾
I will start to make me lil notes while watching There is so much info in thoose videos 💪
Here's where I'm baffled. If this plugin is designed to get a static mix pass done, why is it not the very first insert before any other plugins? Many mixers get a static pass before doing any type of EQ, compression, saturation, etc. Based on some of your responses to other commenter, each time you process and track it needs to be relearned and mixed. To me that seems counter productive and you'll always be chasing your tail in the mix. Perhaps I'm missing something.
It's designed to be the very last insert plugin, placing every element on their proper level-plane. It can be placed in the pre-processing-chain position in order to gain stage virtual tape plugins and such. The hardest thing about using Mix Monolith accepting that level-planes exist. That said, the very first thing I do in my "Universal Mixing part-1" video is show you that they've always existed as part of sonic energy...we've just never used them before. Happy mixing.
*Please add more points to "Auto Generate Ceilling". COS Pro sounds amazing DSP wise. This may be THE best sounding tone-matching EQ out there.*
❤🇲🇲
Hi - At the end of this video, you have a Waves plugin on the Drum Bus. Earlier you stated Waves plugins like to be hit at -20 lufs. Is this not the case with buses? You've got the MM before tape and Waves, but not before everything hits bus? OR on the Drum bus before the Omni? Great plugins by the way.
Great question...in this instance I knew the combined energy at my drum buss was right around the -20LUFS mark, so a Monolith correction before the Waves plugin wasn't necessary. That said, it's good practice to always check the LUFS levels of your stereo busses and apply correction if needed.
@@ayaicware Interesting - good to know - thanks for the quick reply!!
How do I know what guide I should use and when, and what Hz? Bought monolith the other Day, using the trial now of cos and will buy the upgrade! Great products!
Please watch the "4 points of noise" chapter in our Universal Mixing part-2 video. Don't think in terms of what Hz to use where, as a Hyper-EQ utilizes elbow-points based on Universal Rules to drive the equalization process. Watch all 5-parts of Universal Mixing for a better understanding on this.
@@ayaicware Thank you! I've watched all series but the "COS Pro and The Infinity Principle" really did it for me! Still on trial, gonna buy it when trial ends. Great stuff! :)
Menno, can you make and updated mastering video with the new update and also a ceiling guide video. Please and thank you. I love this EQ. I’ve been recommending it to everyone that will listen and to every music producer that is struggling with mixing. Just amazing! Thanks Menno.
Glad you're enjoying COS Pro. Most definitely...many new videos are already in the works. Stay tuned.
The passion and enthusiasm that this man has for his technological creations alone make them worth buying and using.
Best!!!! ❤😊
I didnt find the frequency chart on download page of website. where can i find it please?
It's under the additional "Presets" section on the downloads page... titled "Frequency Colors".
@@ayaicware I found it, thank you very much 🙂
Could you please do some videos using this on pure electronic club music like techno/house please? I'd like to see how to use it when mixing things like 909/808 drums and synthesizers.
Will do...but there are already presets for 808/909 kicks and sub basses in COS Pro...which it handles beautifully. Everything we hear is noise, so when we utilize noise ceilings to balance noise elements to noise...everything is easy to deal with and sounds great. Remember...noise is not genre-specific nor frequency-range specific.
@@ayaicware Great, thanks for the speedy response and for clarifying that. Looking forward to more videos!
Does this EQ plugin work to mix electronic music like house music, techno and electro using mostly soft-synths and samples?
Yes it does...as noise is not genre-specific. Please watch the chapter "4 points of noise" in the Universal Mixing part-2 video.
is a very interesting method, but, how did you choose wich kind of noise are you gonna use for a specific instrument?
Please watch the chapter "4 points of noise" in Universal Mixing part-2.

Just beautiful update Menno, really superb. Thank you and the team for the work !!!
great update! thanks!
beautiful lovely updated AMAZING

Gracias!
damn, menno, thank you so much for the added features! i have to repeat what's already been written here… an already amazing plugin just got incredibly better : )
How about implementing a dynamic function as well? Do you think that is possible? ❤
ayeeeeeeeee yessssss siiiiiiirrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
Fantastic!!!! Thank you!!! 🤗🥰🎶🎹
Much props on the update🎉 Any chance in the future is the company looking to incorporate any hardware control / scripting? Are there any updates on its midi mapable nature? Edit: I imagine preset swapping; conforming to ceiling, adapting to ceiling, tilt increment stepper, etc all midi mappable via controllers, etc
Yes...we have hardware controllers and more planned.
Very nice upgrade! It would be great to have a custom mode for EQ Snapshots in seconds for sound design purposes not only bpm synced. Also, what about adding mid/side ceiling ?
Mid/Side is already in the works in COS Pro-M.👍
Not only it is a great update but it also not changed the older implementations: all old patches even through 3rd party plugin-wrapper still working. Bravo, good quality here!
Great update, will Mix monolith receive similar love in the future? :D
Yes...we are adding new features to Mix Monolith as we speak...and beginning work on something new. Stay tuned.
