Backyard Pond and Waterfall
In this video I'm recapping how I build a small pond and waterfall in my back yard. I started this last fall and completed it the following spring. I dug the main hole out with my tractor then smoothed out the shape by hand with a shovel. I then lined the base with tarps and a pool liner before filling with thousands of rocks, then stacked a large rock pile for the waterfall.
I used an electric pump to run the waterfall and routed the hose around the rocks and up the back of the tower then used several rocks to conceal the hose.
For added effect I put in a set of waterproof solar powered LED lights to light up the water and waterfall at night. The lights change colors which I think looks pr...

Why not keep the front weel, and mount the cutter on the front wheel hub and with suspensions to keep the cutter in line with the surface when the bike is turning and leaning.
That's a good idea. It would definitely help take weight off the cutter and maybe help with the rolling resistance.

Have you put new brushes in?
Help Please! New motor, new battery and new starter but no crank now. Only way to start is with 1 jumper cable to neg battery and 1 cable to metal. Must be a ground but how do i figure out which one and where its located?
@@meredithrepko2293 I would just run a brand new 4ga cable from the battery to engine block and to the truck body.
@@nothandsomebuthandy before I do that, when I did the test with the battery, I put it to the alternator bracket for the ground and it got super hot. Will it do that to the 4gua wire?
@@meredithrepko2293 it depends on the size of the wire and exactly what ground wire is missing. The cable must be able to handle nearly 1000A of current momentarily during starting, then up to 200A continuous to recharge the battery for some time. So if you put a smaller wire 12ga etc that wire could not handle the continuous current from the battery back to the alternator and it would get hot or even start to burn up. A wire big enough won't get hot. I suggest minimum 4ga in case it's a main ground that is missing, the new wire would serve as the main ground and be enough to handle it.
@@nothandsomebuthandy sorryi should have worded that better. The wire didn't get hot the bracket where it was connected on the alternator got hot when I was testing. Should that happen? Thanks for all the help!

2016 RAM 5.7(237k miles)Issue Yesterday I replaced the trucks alternator and battery today drove it but made a stop for food and when I turn it on it sound like it didn’t want to so when I got home it did turn it off but as soon I turn it on the truck it makes a rattling noise and it started but the engine won’t turn on.I don’t know if I’m making sense but I do need help as I bought it last week and starting to regret my purchase
What parts did you remove to replace the alternator? Is it possible something is touching the radiator fan and making the rattling noise?
My husband suspects its his starter on his 2017 ram. Was recently in the shop for brakes and inspection. Plus a weird skip while driving 50mph-60mph. No idea on cause. We get the truck home 2 days later truck is dead in the driveway. We suspected the battery got a new one. Needed it anyways. Still nothing.
@@cassied9343 definitely worth looking at the starter. What do you mean by weird skip?
@@nothandsomebuthandy it started a few months back but only a few times. We noticed a weird pulling. Felt like from the rear maybe the transmission was skipping a gear. Felt like when a small trailer kinda Jerks the truck. But only did it when we were driving from 50-60mph. Didn't matter how hard we would.hit the gas pedal either. We had it looked at. Not a u-joint nothing with engine codes or flashing the transmission. Perhaps a fuel filter, or plugged cat. Cheapest fixes to start. We are the only owners of the truck always well maintained to. 88k miles.
@cassied9343 I think alot of Rams (mine included) feel weird things like that from time to time. I've read of people with severe transmission issues but have yet to notice anything severe. A friend had the rear differential rebuilt on his Ford after feeling something weird and that solved it for him but I can't describe exactly what his issue was. I'm just ignoring mine until it gets bad enough to diagnose 😅
@@nothandsomebuthandy perhaps but we've had the truck since 2017. Never had this issue before and we don't beat on it. Just don't want to make the issue worse if it is a transmission issue. They aren't cheap. Plus the starter is bad and we're told the ball joints are bad. All random stuff out of know where.
I really appreciate you man. Just had the issue which was exactly the same issue as the video. Couldn’t find any specific or clear information and fixing but again thanks for the video and the explanation.

Had a similar issue doing LCA’s, where the bolt would just spin in place & not back out. Like in your video, had a small gap where the bolt partly came out. Ended up being able to get a ball joint separator in btwn the bolt & body. Then, used 2 impacts to drive the BJ separator open & back out the bolt at the same time. Worked like a charm.

I had a 2017 Ram 1500. Around the 29000 mileage marker. I developed a intermittent no crank, no start. Well i sent it to the dealership under warranty. They called me hours later to tell me they couldn't find anything wrong. I picked the truck up and drove it home. Next day same thing. So i disconnected the battery. Jacked up the truck and removed that dust shield. I took a 1/4 inch ratchet and a 13mm socket. I turned the main nut on the positive battery cable at the starter a quarter turn. Climbed out from underneath the truck. Reconnected the battery and bam. The truck started up and was fine. Till the day i turned it in for a newer ram. Which was over a year later. Since 2017. I have owned two 4th gen rams and two 5th gen rams. Not because they're junk.
My trusty grinder just started making a weird noise Damn. The rectangle piece you describe sounds like the end of a carbon brush. You likely used up the brushes completely and need to change them. Pretty easy to do and replacements aren't expensive.

@@andrewsams335 did you try tapping while a second person turns the key at the same time?
@nothandsomebuthandy Yes I did. Must be another problem. I'll look at the ignition switch and related electronics next. Battery is good all gauges come on. The tow truck driver tried a boost but that didn't do anything so it's not the battery. The starter relay is clicking when the key is turned but I don't have a way to test it without buying a new one and swapping it out.
There may be another relay in the box you can swap with to test but I can't remember exactly. Check the ASD relay as well. It's a bit of work to get out but you could take the starter off and test it on a bench to be sure before shelling out for a new one or extra diagnosis.
@nothandsomebuthandy I got it! It's the starter. I jumpered the starter relay and heard a small click sound without it turning over, so it needs to be replaced. Thank gawd it wasn't the ignition key/box those things are hilariously expensive.

On top of your screen should be a plate. When you put the cover over the rotor it has small marks that must line up it it won't work. When you shut the tractor off you should hear the filter continue spinning. Not the very outer cover the one where you need a screw driver. Must line up with notch on rotor. They are very small. Once lined up scribe a better mark. If it's not spinning after it's not working. Is order a screen and on top of the impeller is a metal plate with a hole that fits over the shaft. When it's working the inside walls will be caked with gunk. We had ours for a long time before we figured this out.
This is good to know, it is not mentioned in the service manual.
