Het mixen is begonnen en daarvoor zijn we naar de studio van het Metropole Orkest verhuisd! Waarom? Bastrombonist van het PJO heet de plaat ge-edit en gaat voor de echte vintage sound werken op de mooiste apparatuur die we konden vinden!

1 en 2 maart 2021 heeft Paradox Jazz Orchestra zijn debuut CD opgenomen in hun 'home base' Paradox! Hier een mooie terugblik naar twee fantastische dagen waar de band weer kon doen waar ze het best in zijn. Het proces van editten en mixen is begonnen en we hopen jullie binnenkort een mooie preview te geven. Tot die tijd, geniet van onze aftermovie!

Not a paradox but an enigma as to why this phenomenal performance has so few views and not one single comment. Amad is reversed, but the world is upside down. Great upload, thank you!
You are so right. There is something infectious about the way this great Ellington arrangement "unfolds". It's almost impossible to stop one's feet from tapping time. Especially when the saxophone section chime in. Incidently it's a great shame no one one has downloaded a sement in the black and white documentary "Reminiscing in Tempo" which shows Duke at a grand piano which is surrounded by his entire band - in dinner jackets -playing the opening section of "Amad"from memory.

Great job and I'm glad that all the saxophonist kept their fingers on the keys when playing (I was told to do this by my neighbor Jerome Richardson and Sonny Stitt).

Obviously great level band; perhaps for me the sidemen of the saxes section are too shy, we don't hear the Thad Jones voicings enough, a Jazz saxes tutti is a gang, tough and hard. Listen to Basie live records with Marshall Royal, Frank Wess, Billy Michell, Frank Foster and Charlie Fowlkes, everybody blows hard at the same volume, no present to the lead alto..
I think what you’re hearing has a little bit to do with the alto. (Second) alto needs to really tuck in on the unisons but “bring it”on the harmonies more than the other chairs. I’ve layered myself a lot playing all the parts and it always gives extra life to it when the second part is approached this way. Some of this could be how the engineer mixed the saxes too because this band is really nailing the style!

The drummer is the weak link here...weak drummer, weak band.
Plays the tune the same as Mel RIP. That kid is also ambidextrous. To me he sounds as a very good drummer.

Sounds lethargic ..no power..and for me the tempo needs to be quicker.. shame, cause they are really good players
Definitely not lethargic or lacking power (check trumpet section) but agree it would be cooler with a faster tempo!

Great job, guys!!! Sometimes I have a hard time finding a version of Groovin' Hard that I like, but this one is great!! Excellent job on the shout section. Can't wait to see more of your videos. Nice clean sound. 🙂 Sometimes I wish the lead trumpet was a little brighter on top, but I think it's more of a mic issue. Nice job lead alto on the sax soli!
