I was worried about this exact thing when I heard about it. But I don't think Sony is going to axe RPGM. They might dump a little money into it to give it better features, and might even allow Devs to put their games on the Playstation store (with jurying). It's also somewhat of a cash cow for them if they leave it how it is. It doesn't take much compared to what they already have to produce and maintain and will bring in a bit of money. Lets not forget that Indie Games are having a resurgence (no small part to Sony's missteps as of late), and it looks like RPGM is blowing up right now. Them dropping Gotcha Gotcha and RPGM would be a huge mistake, and I don't think they want to piss off that many people.

In my opinion the best RPGM alternative is "RPG Architect". Its literally Rpg Maker unlocked! It does not have any limitations RPG Maker has. And it generally works the same way RPGM works, same mind set. Only downside (if you consider it downside) it does not have any templates. Meaning: with RPGM your menu, save system, player locomotive etc. is game ready; with RPGA you don't have any of this, you have to make everything from scratch (its so easy btw). There's also "RPG Developer BAKIN" if you want to switch to 3D. That engine is literally made for making games like Octopath Traveler. Engine file system is a bit clunky, but for me it was easy to learn. If I were RPGA devs now, I would come up with templates that would suit RPGM needs, I would try everything to get RPGM community on my side. So that if Sony does anything crazy, it would be the same effect as people migrating away from unity to godot but this time RPGM to RPGA.

So does this mean Sony will delist Both RPG Maker With and MV on switch and take away the license for anyone who purchased the Digital Version without even refunding anyone? I hope not RPG Maker With will have crossplay with Switch and playstation and if With Switch Servers shutdown then what's the point And as for MV that was the only RPG Maker on the console at that time so if both are removed then RPG Maker will completly be inaccessible for switch users I hope they do the right thing and not mess things up this buyout is just ridiculous if they are trying to make the RPG Maker series Playstation exclusive Well it was before but we don't need it to be exclusive again

horrible news. Sony & Microsoft have completely lost the plot. its getting to the point i dont want to buy, play, or develop games. i just feel like my energy would be better spent places that arent as heavily monetized, politicized, and censored

Since love2d is as portable as rpg maker. I wonder if an UI for it can be built... So people could make rpgs on it kinda easily.

Im pretty sure that your classified as a pngtuber (or png vtuber? I could be wrong) a vtuber has a model that moves the whole time while pngtubers have a character drawing which changes according to sound Or toggles (and prob more) but remains a still image of the character

I know most of the rpg maker community only recommends buying these engines on pc since they're more customizable, but as someone that wants to take it more casually, i think this one is fine.

A few questions. How easy are the controls on switch. Can I use the ganepad? Is it similar to rpg maker mv or fes?
