    could you build a wider base so that it would fit different sized bodies ? Would it be a problem if the space between the holders and the half body jig is bigger than 3mm. I'm thinking that you would want to use your base and holders for different projects with different body width.

    Stapleton Guitars: I like the simple design you came up with.Was a thermometer of some sort not necessary or was the temperature control on the blanket sufficient? Did heat up take about 15 minutes before bending?

    • @StapletonGuitars
      @StapletonGuitars 2 месяца назад

      The whole process of bending one side takes around eight minutes or so, and you need to cool it down after to avoid the spring back effect. The temperature control on the blanket is sufficient enough to rely on it.

    What is the process of actually designing and drawing out a custom shape? I see a lot of pre existing designs being made into molds but where is the blueprint for coming up with your own shape? What is the geometric equation involved??? I can’t seem to find any info

    • @StapletonGuitars
      @StapletonGuitars 9 месяцев назад

      This is a very interesting question, and here is my answer, there is no blueprint for the body shapes. Early days dozens of the body shapes was created, and just several have settled. The couple things I could recommend: work within the dimensions, and understand how upper bout, lover bout, waist and depth of the body affect the sound. Also, you could create your own body shape of cause.

Between what resistance values of a strat pickup is the standard to replicate a 50s sound, considering using alnico 5 and heavy formvar 42awg wire?. • @StapletonGuitars

      You can actually, some guitar factories have automated side benders, the only thing you need to do is to prepare the wood properly. I would love to have one of those. Accuracy and time saving are the key factors here.@@simonguitarfunkel

    • @StapletonGuitars
      @StapletonGuitars 10 месяцев назад

      @@simonguitarfunkel I wouldn't. Yes you can use CNC for some operations, but you need to feel the wood. Every single piece of the wood has different tonal characteristics, and quality is different too. And when we're talking about sound board voicing, not CNC aloved here at all.

    • @jonheath7502
      @jonheath7502 10 месяцев назад

      You could have added alignment holes with the CNC in it’s program.

    • @StapletonGuitars
      @StapletonGuitars 10 месяцев назад

      The short answer is to reduce plywood wastage. My CNC has 400mm width so in this case I would have to prepare plywood sheets in the size of the CNC working area. But on the big plywood sheet that I had - I could just position the template at any angle, and as close to each other as possible. Another thing, when you are putting together nine CNC cut layers, you have to align them precisely; whereas if you're using just one template then aligning will be done by the router bit for you. I hope it makes sense.

    I'm listening thru some top end Senheiser headphones and this sounds so nice, open, airy and it has that Kiwi vibe... kinda like the sonic version of the crisp 'seaweed and salt' breeze while surfcasting on the beach at BayView, listening to the rocks 'grainy overdrive' as they knock together in the surf. This tone, in my humble opinion, has vibes of early Split Enz/Hello Sailor/Swingers ... I would guess that the bridge pickup driven hard could get a good early British punk grit to it.... As someone with serious G.A.S. I have a Ibanez AS53 Hollow Body Electric that plays well acoustically but is a bit 'meh' or flat plugged in. Even with new strings. Obviously the sound on this clip is a combination of ALL your instrument, woods/strings/pot choice/wiring/lead/amp/effects... etc; not just the pickups, but do you think whatever set of yours that you have put in this guitar would bring my Ibanez to life? Keen to hear your thoughts. Im the guy with the Gretsch upgrade project and my new bass build I questioned you about on TradeMe. Also a designer by trade designing, spec'ing, building and installing for my clients all and pretty much everything that everyone else says no to. From a 8m replica of the Eifell Tower as a digitally printed truck-tarp tent for Renault NZ, bespoke structural signage, visual displays and branding, to a Beatles themed set of rubbbish bins for a nice lady in Taupo. And a wild selection in between. I'm challenged every day and my job is to break the norm and deliver unconventional solutions. In Stapleton I see a kindred spirit so, as a Muso also, I am keen to check out the wares... after some good advice of course.
