There is something about Wagner’s operas and music that incites such a passion in his admirers to want to “participate” in some way, to dive deep into the work and put enormous effort into creating their own iteration or analysis of the work. I’ve seen his operas produced in full in Lego form, or completely computer animated. Sometimes such products are silly in concept, but demonstrate such a dedication to the work that they have to be loved. Your analysis (which is not silly in concept, to be clear) is a wonderful addition to this body of Wagnerian labors-of-love. Though demanding on the viewer in terms of length and detail, they are fantastically made, and perhaps someday I will finish watching all of them. Thank you for your work!

Has anyone else noticed how this great piece, "Cortege Burlesque for piano" sounds amazingly like a 'classic ragtime' ("Two-Step"? "Cakewalk"?) of Joplin, Lamb, or Marshall nearly a full generation later? (Chabrier wrote his in 1881; the generally accepted date of the first ragtime song ("Maple Leaf Rag" by Joplin) was 1895. So, should we start calling Chabrier "the (unintentional) Grandfather of Ragtime"???

I sometimes miss some things though. You mentioned somewhere that one of these morphemes was representative of this controversial idea of racial themes and it trying to find the spot where that discussion starts

I really enjoy getting to see your blossoming in these continued efforts as a vlogger / podcaster / musical history authority in your own right. The Wagner / Ring Cycle content clearly represents a monumental task in organizing and distilling thought, and everything else that goes into producing these chapters in your overall vision and intent. In my humble opinion, it's a magnificent contribution to the otherwise vast universe of discourse and opinion on the topic. But in other ways, these highlight segments, which feature your own original compositions, are especially excellent and delightful to receive, as a very grateful subscriber. I know that I frequently count myself as vastly fortunate whenever I'm applying specific selections of your musical works to my own indie produced projects, and I'll never be able to sufficiently thank you for the use of them in what I've tried to do, tried to bring into being (as a lover of macabre cinema) in the creative realm.

I came... I heard... I saw... And then, my brain exploded. (hee-hee) All joshing aside, many sincere thanks for cluing me in to the long-awaited presence of these uploads. I realize how much toil is involved, not only in organizing and refining your written materials, but also arranging for the splendid narration recording and ornate visual accompaniment. Very nicely done, and fascinating to contemplate and to gaze upon -- even for a non-intellectual / musical slum rat like me. Regardless, I do intend to watch further installments in this on-going series. Just try to stop me, I dare you! In the end, as always, I admire your devotion, your maverick scholar's self-confidence, and your irreplaceable brilliance and influence, now and all throughout the past decades. My wish for you is that you will happily manage to connect with many other like-minded fans of the big 'W', of his legendary signature work, and that you'll have endless spirited discussions on these topics. And who knows? Perhaps even more enticing rewards are in the offing.
