when you say NO power you make it seem like only urban areas have electric connectivity which is misleading. Kenya has 85 percent of electricity connectivity one of the highest in Africa and the government is in the last mile of connection which means it will drive electric connectivity to 100 percentage in one years time pow for all whether they can afford it or not most villages have power except pockets of them.
Oh good point! I didn't know the stats of the connectivity in the country. Thanks for the information.
Honestly speaking, there is connectivity, but the blackouts in western Kenya especially are insane. Any time there is even the slightest sign of rain the electricity goes away and can take even 24 hours or more before it returns

Your pronunciation of Luo names are so good. Naming of children today was affected due to tribal conflict where Luos were easily targeted by calling names beginning with A or O as you have truelly highlighted. This is a well researched piece of work. Thanks

Enjoy your time! There are massive flooding currently country-wide! The flooding has impacted roads and even in the cities like Nairobi. The government has postponed the start of school because of the rains! Travel well!

What happened to instant showers most kenyans use instant heating showers that vary in prices cheapest cost 1700ksh and which coincidence is that you have to take a shower when there's no power.Power outages are frequent when you are far from the towns, thank you.
Yup! Power outages are definitely more common in the villages vs. the cities. If people have the instant shower heaters, they won’t work without power either!

Christmas used to be a big deal back in the day. Christmas decorations, cards etc were big. Special meals that weren't typically had any other time of the year etc. In my family we'd find a cypress tree to use as a Christmas tree. This might just be subjective reality from what I saw around me, but I think Christmas festivities in Kenya have dwindled to relatively non-existent.
I think this is a good perspective on Christmas here. It kind of reminds me of what some of my friends have told me about chapati and rice. Back in the day, chapati and rice were made for more special meals, but now both are readily available anytime. Maybe it’s like that for Christmas…?
