I had 9 days on a beautiful Greek Island, so relaxing...first day back at work my stress level was so high just looking through the hundreds of emails. I'm 61, hopefully can partially retire in 2 years.

Retirement can be good but when your costs increase on a fixed budget it hurts - just got a notice that the premiums for my house insurance in Toronto just went up 77%.

65 yo retired science teacher. 4 years at this. It is tough to transition to not having the phone ring, or emails to check. IN this video you seem to have a lot of frustration yet to get out. You are in the best health/situation you will ever be right now, enjoy it while it lasts. I am not a morning person but I do enjoy your casual morning strolls and monologue. I hope you find your peace and resolution.

It is probably different for everyone, but in my mid 70s I’m slowing down. I was told that would happen in my 60s, but I was still as good as everback then. But now I’m starting to feel old. I play softball but I’m not sure how much longer. I’m going to miss not really being able to run like I used to. I sure ain’t fast anymore.

retired as an engineer this last June at 56. I left because I had the nest egg, I had a transition plan to retire and I had no reason to stay. The no reason to stay comment was that I was doing the same thing for the last 17 years and I wanted to do more. The not doing more maybe was the result of ageism or maybe I wasn't good enough to take on more or maybe both. It doesn't matter anymore. Sorry for the impact ageism had on your career but things happen for a reason. Enjoying listening to you. I feel I am on the same road as you. BTW are you in Edmonton? looks similar to Edmonton. Great place to live!!!

Hi I love your perspective on the career and I feel similar. Maybe they see us as too old and maybe we are simply unwilling to go the extra anymore. Either way, we are in a much better place these days and I don’t look back. I drive by the old work site as it’s on my drive some days and I laugh and shake my head. Feeling for a few of the good ones left in that rat race. Yea indeed E town is the spot and sadly weather is coming and not for the better. Hope you have a great weekend.

TRUST NOBODY. having lost my ex wife to my so called best friend made me very careful of people i have around me. no smoking no drinking. strict vegan. 60 years old and as fit as when i was 20. if you life is going really well as mine is now be very careful of who u have in your life. if your young? invest invest invest. stop buying crap and invest hard. by 50 u probably can retire.

I commented before on this situation. Be on good terms with yuor wife and kids. Develop some new friends before you retire if possible. Church friends can be forever, especially if they’re near your age. Join a car club or motorcycle club. A couple of fishing or golfing buddies are good. I play softball twice a week.

I'm 54, retired, and I've had my money in S&P 500 funds (100℅ stock) since I started investing. I have made a great deal of money with my FA Kathie and I see no reason to change. The S&P 500 has made an average of 9.8% returns over the past 100 years. International and Bond funds are losers in my opinion because they don't make much money. This is just my amateur opinion which may not work for everyone

I can relate to it all, going through the same things you experienced but with a lost wife of 47 years , no children, remarried and divorced, traveled, lost interest in past hobbies, bought a RV to see if i can find a new interest or female companion. At 78 years old but still thinking 60, being positive is work. Keeping been there done that out of my thoughts is hard. Good luck in your search…

One of your best talks Mark! I have been trying to relay some of this wisdom to my adult kids for the last couple of years. They dont want to listen. They will have to learn this at their own pace when they are ready or receptive to learn and adapt some of these lessons to their advancement in life. I was a student of personal development, starting in my early 20's. Having the personal discipline and guts to take the hard road got me to where I am today, early retirement. Life is not a popularity contest if you want to succeed. Asking for help in a sincere way and having personal integrity in doing the right thing gets you far. Be proud of your accomplishments.

This Video is Bang-on for Young People Mark: I wish I'd known these things in my 20's - certainly would have helped me to not get SO Worked-up about idiot Co-workers or Family BS! There are literally so many people out there (including Family) who DO NOT have the 'Best Intentions' toward us.... they need to be kept at a distance. The only time you cant keep someone at a distance is when you have a Toxic Boss: in that case YOU need to keep yourself at a distance. i.e. By QUITTING!! Anyways - Hope you have a Good Long-Weekend

That Hot Black Tea is a very good relaxing opening for the day. Edit: Your tip, "Level up without feeling guilt" is exactly why it has been so hard to have anything to do with my mother, or tell her when I do anything anymore. You picked at everything as to why she is so toxic. Now I don't feel bad not having anything to do with her.
