Welcome to Cigar Noob, I’m the Flannel Fox, a new cigar smoker and I wanted to share my tips and tricks that I have learned over the past month and a half, learning everything I can about cigars. I just lay the wet paper towels on top. Then mix around the tobacco every so often.
Any issue sticking my tin in a humidor?
Just got my first tin and pipe yesterday. Will need to wait for the rain to stop to try it out. Maybe tomorrow.
An excellent example of a 4 pronged manure fork.
Boveda will work. Just takes 2 or 3 weeks. If you're that impatient then hold the bowl full of tobacco under the faucet. Fill it just barely over the top of the tobacco. That works wonderfully.
I use glass as well but instead of paper towels, I use a shot glass half full of distilled water. When the water is gone, it's in the tobacco. You're done.

I used the same method for rehydrating my glass of water. Sorry, it sooooo not what the tobacco was when fresh. But we all need some how vids. Thanks dude
Cool thanks
Now you’re off and running. Good job. Now you have thousands of blends to try. Enjoy!
unopened tins are vacuum-sealed, only after i open one and see that i won't smoke it in a month or two, only then i move it into a jar
if you want to avoid tongue bite. dry out your tobacco. take the whole can dump it on some paper towels spread it out for about three hours or when it just starts to go crispy. from then I will never get tongue bite. tongue is caused by the moisture in the tobacco turning to steam because you're not heating it up hot enough to burn. you're trying to smoke it lightly so you can get the aromas tobacco with a high moisture content will produce steam. and that's what's bite in the end of your tongue. so like I said before if you're tobacco is dry. not too dry but almost dry you won't get tongue bite.
for some reason I thought that you were going to pretend to be a beginner to show us how to smoke a pipe and go through the steps but you actually are in this video. it really was your first time. that so that's cool.
If mold is the reason for using distilled water, then I think using boiled water should work just as well.
Keeping your tobacco in the tins is fine. Drop in a humidor button or a clean fresh slice of orange peel. The buttons work better for larger containers. The peel will do better for small tins as it won't over moisten the Tobacco.
I noticed (I'm not alone in this) that boveda packs can strip terpenes, and flavors making your blends taste more earthy and less complex. Not sure why though, It's a bummer since they're convenient for maintaining proper levels
There’s nothing wrong with relighting your pipe.
You should use Vodka oe white rum. Water can get you into trouble and spoil the product.
And adding vodka and rum is not contributing to the problem? No joke, serious ass questionnaire.🤦🏻♀️
Yeah I see those videos. I seen one that said keep something cold to drink to keep from tongue burn
Bit
i really enjoy your videos and i hope that you makes more.
Thank you for this video. I left my huge bag of allegedly cigarette tobacco that is sold as pipe tobacco on gas stations ect to meakk your lwn cigs and i left it open on Accident for about 4 days cause i was out of town and forgot my cig making supplies and machine and was buying lacks of cigs and when i came home and eas ready to make me some cigs for thd day i joticed the whole bag which js massive was open and dried out to where it felt like super dry dead grass and tasted horrible like a stale cig you keft in the car k. The middle of summer time all day but worse kinda. This trick helped and saved me money from habing to buy another bag of tobacco. So thak you for making this video saved me j😢7😢yy6 you y6
Be aware! No matter how trendy or hip or cool, this looks, you will be introducing toxic waste directly into your lungs. You will most likely sustain extremely serious health issues as a result, which will probably lead to death. Smoking kills!! All smoking that is. It also kills those around you who you are forcing the smoke onto. Don’t go buying a nice pretty looking, hand crafted Briar pipe, no matter how interesting it and its accompanying paraphernalia looks. Your teeth will quickly become discoloured and your breath will stink. Good luck!
One bonus of receiving dry tobacco, in bulk, is that you get way more tobacco. I just received one pound of a straight Virginia (Daughters & Ryan: Windsail Silver). It was in a giant sized zip-loc bag and it fills four 32 oz Mason jars; tightly. Only, now I want to rehydrate it all. So I will try this method; because both Boveda (Size-8) and RAW clay tabs, together, aren't working in just days. One Boveda (62% Size-8) worked in a 32oz Ball latch-lock jar on another dry'ish tobacco. But it took nearly three weeks before the Boveda packet began feeling like it turned to crystals inside, and the tobacco felt right. Thanks.
I like to throw it in a mason jar with a Boveda pack.
i believe its okay to store in the European tins like yours. they have a seal and mine at least seals to the point its hard to open again. i believe the tins you might of read about would be the american version with a plastic cap and the square tins.
Would never recommend corn cob pipe for beginners. The whole part of pipe enjoyment is getting a beautiful pipe that fits your personality. Any beginner can afford a $50 Rossi by sevinelli.
Try putting your REHYDRATED TOBACCO in a vacuum sealed baggie. I’ve even kept some of my vacuum sealed bags of expensive tobacco in my freezer. I have one bag that’s over 6 years old and the tobacco is PERFECT!! 😁
I want it to age though
Distilled water or tap water… makes zero difference. What is rehydrating the tobacco is evaporated water, which is as pure as it gets. Far more mold spores etc are in the air than in water. Get that moisture too high and you will get a mason jar full of mold. Most practical way to achieve the correct moisture content is Boveda packs, though it will take longer.
Great video thank you sir, my wife and I just started our YTPC channel, its allot of fun, hope you had a great Christmas.
Can a wood moisture meter be used?
Boveda Packs work Perfectly for that... Use 2, %75 Boveda packs and let sit for AROUND 2 WEEKS, sometimes more... Not a day and a half. Lmao 👊 🍻
Free-dive techniques for max. of efficiency/economical use of product. Just carved my first pipe out of mango drift-wood. "The Great Pipe Shark:" bowl end a great white and draw end- a mako.
Put small piece of potato skin in the tin.
I just started and I'm smoking Peterson's NightCap
A KoC member and a pipe smoker. Is it safe to say you’re a Tolkien fan?
Im about to embark on the pipe experience on this Veterans' day and Marine Corps birthday. Stay lit.
Just pack your pipe how you like it don’t listen to other people
If it’s for sale wherever you buy it, I highly recommend Seattle Pipe Club’s Plumb Pudding. One of the best tins I’ve had so far! Smells Smokey, almost like bbq in the tin but has such a nice mellow and sweet flavor to it! Gonna be getting this one more often! Been wanting to try the Early Morning Pipe blend however!
They also have a reserve line that's about twice the price (40 bucks a tin). I've tried neither. It's on my list, though.
I leave my tabacco in the tins but store it in a large humidor that’s heated/cooled. It has worked great so far and it keeps a consistent humidity.
This guy looks like a lumber jack
All this is over kill and too much trouble. Just take a slice of an apple and put it in the jar. It works wonders. Don’t leave it in there too long though. Talk about a sweet smoke it will be.
Lol yea you can do that. The idea is to not change the flavor of the tobacco
@@TheGingerPiper my grandfather was a fourth generation pipe smoker and I remember as a kid that he would smoke tobacco that was dry in a new pipe to break it in. Then after the pipe started getting some cake buildup on it he would switch to hydrated tobacco with moisture. I remember him cutting a slice of apple and putting it into his tobacco pouch if it had dried out if he received tobacco as a gift that he didn’t really care for. If his favorite tobacco dehydrated he would soak cotton balls in bourbon and drop them in there.
I just got my first pipe, and I just tried a little test run outside. It didn't go too well, but I also did not have my bowl as full.
Congrats on the first pipe! It’ll take some time to figure it out. Don’t be discouraged and enjoy 🤙🔥
I flirted with a pipe in my 20's-30's being around an almost exclusive Sir Walter Raleigh smoking friend of mine. Such a bitch to stay lit! I MAY try a cob pipe and a couple of random tins my Cigar Store has but lighting up a Punch Classico and KNOWING I'm gonna have a purfect burn is why Punch Classico's or Oliva is ALWAYS in my humidor .... I'll probably try a tin of Punch 1st ... Maybe it's the Mr Punch Bobbleheads... so cool!
Great video. A lot of information for new pipe smokers. I definitely agree with you on the cooler drinks to help with the tongue bite.
Best info thank you
Also, you need to invest in a good pipe lighter.
I have had tongue bite with certain tobaccos, but not all aromatics. I smoke an aromatic and have never had tongue bite from it. And you are smoking it wrong. You must exhale put the corner of your mouth while also blowing some air back through the pipe. Not separately. The best smoking tobaccos are the worst smelling to those around you. The good ones are very cool smoking a d have almost no flavor, but extremely nice to smoke. Just doesn’t smell good.
This method works
u gotta make more videos man. i enjoy the content. u got a lot of quality pipes on IG.
Thanks for the suggestion! Really like the way that sounds and it is a graat price too!
