When listening to this new gift of yours, immediately your tremendous sensitivity as a composer emerges in an exquisite way transmitted by your refined technique that I greatly admire . The succesion of notes that take us through out the Intermezzo in a perfect combination to highlight the solemnity of the movement as an anticipation of the grandeur finale. I neeed to confess how big it is my appetite for much more. Many Thanks again.
Dear Milton, as always, I am so deeply honored by your words and your comments; thank you wholeheartedly! Yes, this work certainly belongs to a series of pieces in which I explored an extremely dilated musical time, in a movement from emptiness to fullness, from darkness to hope - as you so rightly point out with your insightful words. Once again, thank you so much, I truly look forward to sharing more music with you in the near future! With deep gratitude, Thomas
Composizione ben ristrutturata in stile moderno, elegia piena di nobile sensibilità.Ascolto interessante.Complimenti!

The nocturnes are my favorites. To hear them all together in one performance is incredible. Both because of your artistry and sheer bravery in playing them all together. Thank you for your beautiful tempos and expression. Truly exquisite.
Thank you for listening and for your truly wonderful words! I am happy and honored that this interpretation is meaningful to you. All the best, with blessings! Thomas
What an achievement!!! The entire book of the complete Chopin nocturnes played in one go with consummate artistry and matching musical strength!
Thank you for your absolutely wonderful words!!! I'm happy that this interpretation resonates with you. With gratitude, Thomas
Great interpretation!
Thank you for listening and for your truly kind words! All the best to you! Thomas
22 minutes of pure bliss.❤
Thank you dear Walter! So happy you are enjoying this interpretation, too! All the best and talk soon! Thomas
fantastic and quite interesting! reminded me of Barber's piano sonata at certain points. perhaps Bach's B-A-C-H from the Art of Fugue lives on indirectly here with the use of A-B-D-C? 😉
Thank you for listening to this, too, and for your truly kind words! Such an interesting insight to link the A-B-D-C theme to the four notes of BACH; in a 4-note theme there is perhaps some sense of cosmic completeness (the four corners of the Cross, the four cardinal points). At a conscious level, I believe had linked it with the first 4 notes of the finale of Mozart's Jupiter (C-D-F-E), but transposed in A minor. But all of these themes may be coming "from the same source", so to say. Thank you again, all the best! Thomas
Numbering pls.
Good morning! Timestamps of individual Nocturnes are in the video description. All the best, Thomas
In these depressing times of the Fast & the Furious, it's a revelation to see a true artist in the Benedetti Michelangeli tradition who lets the musical phrases breathe and whisper lines of poetry. Bravissimo!
Thank you for your wonderful words, and I feel truly humbled by the mention of Michelangeli's name. I am happy this interpretation resonates with you! All the best to you, with gratitude, Thomas
Breathe and whisper. Yes! That's what Schwan hears and evokes. So exceptional.
@jamesbell7220 What wonderful words - thank you wholeheartedly! All the best! Thomas
I have been watching for the last several days , the Chopin Competitions with Ben Hull from Miami University in Florida, the 11th Competition in the US. Today is the last day. Thank you for your kind words, I am happy this interpretation is meaningful to you! (Also studied from the Henle...) All the best to you, with blessings, Thomas
@ThomasSchwan do you have an audio recording of this performance?
Alas, for now only here on youtube. All the best! Thomas
The counterpoint is very well structured on the composition basic notes wich unquestionably leads the receiver of the music to the logical association of the melody with everything that underlies the human mind in everything related to the timelessness of what is that we call the infinity. It's a diaphanous work, clear and of great depth with an oustanding and surprising finale. You're a complete revelation to me. Congratulations. Many thanks.
Dear Milton, I am truly grateful for your wonderful words and always thrilled by your comments. You mention timelessness and infinity: what a joy for me to know that this work managed to resonate with you with such depth! Once again, thank you wholeheartedly - all the best, with blessings! Thomas
Bellissimo! Grazie Thomas!
Grazie a te Raul! A presto! Thomas
Thomas
Im not one who is good with words but suffice to say i could have listened forever 🫡👏👏👏👏👏👏
Thank you for listening and for your truly kind words, I'm happy that this interpretation is meaningful to you! All the best! Thomas

Too kind, thank you for your wonderful words and for listening! All the best, Happy New Year! Thomas
@@ThomasSchwan All the best and a Happy New Year to you as well. It is me who says a big thank-you! In the forte phrases, you show power and a fierceful conviction, whereas, in the piano phrases, your most delicate touché makes me think of someone tenderly caressing his most beloved. Miraculous. Many thanks again.
Truly honored by your words! Thank you once again!! Thomas
I've listened to your interpretations of WTC 1 and 2 hundreds of times already. Thank you so much for sharing. I wonder, how do you remember all the music by heart? Can you offer any advice on how to learn it?
Thank you for listening and for your kind donation, and I am truly happy that these interpretations resonate with you! Regarding learning and memorization, I can do nothing but offer advice on what can be seen as a "pyramid-shaped" process: start from one prelude and fugue, and work on it for a long time, until it is completely mastered. Also, become able to play it both at the piano and in your mind, with incremental accuracy. I have personally spent a lot of time "thinking" these pieces, under tempo, note by note, both hearing and visualizing each note on an "inner keyboard", and also imagining the movements and the touch. After mastering one, proceed to three; after that, learn six; if you can learn six and play them in sequence, you can play 12 and then 24 - I deem it as completely possible for any functioning human mind, and I think it is mostly a matter of organization, discipline, and self-awareness (awareness of one's unique mental and learning processes). Also, fugues should be also studied in separate parts, coloring the voices and playing them separately, as musically as possible. Just a few thoughts, not easy to distill this in a few lines, so feel free to ask any more questions here or also via email, if you think I can be of help! My pleasure! All the best to you, and all my best wishes on your own piano work! Thomas
@@ThomasSchwan Thank you very much! I never expected such a detailed and honest response. It's very interesting, and I will definitely give it a try. I wish you success and hope to attend your concert one day.
WONDERFUL, BRAVO!
Thank you, happy you are enjoying this interpretation! All the best, Thomas
Wirklich großartig. ♥
Thank you for listening and for your truly wonderful words, I am happy this interpretation resonates with you! All the best, Thomas
Nice work, Thomas! It is completely in line with the best spiritual works of choir music. I like it. In fact, I do listen very often choir sacral music and I know many lovely compositions of Lauridsen, Whitacre or Geilo, they can really touch one's soul, especially when performed by well balanced and excellent choir. This sounds really well, despite the fact it is virtual choir of computer programme. One day when being performed live it is going to sound magnificently. Congrats, honestly!
Dear Vanja, thank you so much for your truly wonderful comment! I am so happy this work resonates with you! Yes, the virtual choir is both an opportunity and a limitation - but I am happy if, even just partially, it managed to transmit the vision of the work. Talk soon! Thomas

Enjoying this so much, sir! Perfection being performed perfectly. Thank you for bringing so much life and grace to Bach's set of masterpieces.
Thank you for your incredible words and I am truly happy you are enjoying this interpretation! All the best to you! Thomas
Listening to this Bach music played by Thomas Schwan again after more than half a year, with every note played by this incredible pianist and true Bach medium, I feel that Bach's music has not only existed for 300 years or more, but since the creation of the universe. Only Thomas Schwan has been able to perform Bach's music in such a way that it is timeless and infinite, like the whole cosmos. Thomas Schwan is the only pianist to date who can manage the dynamics of each note/sound and the tempo with its infinite fluctuations in his playing of Bach's music in such an expressive way as to convey all the timeless divinity inherent in Bach's music.
Dear Paul, great to hear from you and I feel truly humbled by your words. I am happy you are still enjoying these interpretations. Your words as always mean a lot to me and are tremendously positive and encouraging on a spiritual level. All the best, with blessings and Happy New Year, Thomas
Thank you Vanja! These Hamvas quotes are opening up new horizons for anyone stumbling on these pages...
Freshly played Bach with the lyricism, psychological sensitivity, and musicality it deserves, and which is anyway probably closer to how he heard it internally.. congrats on this massive achievement!
Thank you for listening and for such incredible words! I feel truly humbled! All the best, with blessings, Thomas
