im surprised no one talks about the l14 because it’s so much more upgradable than the t14 and costs less. thinkpad community on yt only cares about the t series.

I’m planning to upgrade to 2.5 inch SSD by replacing it with existing HDD. (G531GT) Can I use the same SATA cable to connect the SSD which was connected to the HDD?? And it’s hard to remove the HDD from the casing 😢

A better hack is to grind the point of the screw until its flat, and then reinstall and secure the existing (filed down flat) screw…WARNING: word of caution for either remedy…do not overtighten the screw…hand tighten only…

Extra tips: - Just for added safety, you can add tape on the battery connector to avoid accidental touches. Remove the tape once once you are done with everything. - you can actually remove the shell of the fans so that you can thoroughly clean the individual blades. It will greatly improve the air carrying capacity of the fans by thoroughly cleaning the fan blades. You can use compressed air but be sure to fix the fan blades to avoid damage to the fan motor. - Compressed air and a paint brush will be helpful to thoughly clean the vent fins. - If the laptop is more than 2 years old, it is still best to replace the thermal pads of the VRAM modules. Those components can be a possible failure point if they overheat for long periods. - You can spread the thermal paste on the CPU and GPU dye to ensure that the entire heating surface gets coverage by the heatsinks and avoid any air pockets.

Clean, new paint brushes are a godsend for cleaning, been using them for decades. For smoke build up, that oily layer, dip a brush in acetone/alcohol and brush that oil away. Vent the room of course. I also use a tiny bit of copper polish on the heat sinks, clean them up and make them shiney. Not sure if it increases performance at all, but its simple, looks nice, and you can almost mirror polish them. This setup looks very familiar to my gigabyte KF5 or something. Almost identical heat pipes and screw mounts. Edit: my Gigabyte I forgot has 2 sided heat sink and fan exhaust on both sides.

i watched this just to get a sense of if I could replace my crackly speaker myself or if I should bring it into a shop. When you mentioned metal shards, I grabbed a magnet off the fridge, ran it over my speaker, and we're totally back to normal! Might not be a permafix, but I learned something new. Thank you!

I replaced the left speaker with two different speakers. BOTH still crackled and vibrated. I got curious and plugged in headphones and the headphones sounded normal. I unplugged the headphones, and the speaker was WORKING PROPERLY. WOW!
