I think Lee’s influence will loom large over the whole 21st century, for better and worse. He sort of disproved the theory of “marriage” between free market capitalism and western style democracy, proving that you can remain a tyrannical and authoritarian government and still have the most rapidly explosive capitalist economic growth in history (China, Singapore, Hong Kong, South Korea)

It is not true that FDR and King Abdul Azis agreed to use solely USD in the oil trade in Feb 1945. There was no such agreement. The meeting on the ISS Quincy lasted 9 hours not a few days. FDR secured an informal agreement for Saudi Arabia to supply oil to the USA in return for US security. It was also to fend of any British attempt to take control of Chevron-Texaco. Saudi Arabia was the a British Protectorate and FDR had given a pledge to Churchill that the USA would not intervene in territory controlled by the British. There was no talk of use of the USD. In fact the matter was so sensitive it was not even disclosed in the written Memo signed by FDR. The exclusive use of the USD for any oil purchase only came about after the US stopped using the gold backing for rhe USD during the Nixon administration in 1979.

Only a fool would refuse to see Russia's security interest being at risk. The USA has said very clearly that that it wants to see Russia diminished. The West has no right to seek to diminish Russia in any way!

I'm with him when he says America lacks wisdom but he lost me when he said it's because they're only 300 years old he could've used any reason and chose the stupidest (stating that America is only 300 years old) meanwhile Third World countries that are older have Civil War every five years he could've chosen almost anything else and would have made sense

LKY was way off in his predictions. China's GDP passed Japan's in 2010(6 years after this interview) instead of by 2020. China is already almost 5x Japan's GDP after 20 years instead of 50. China reached 50% urbanization after only six years from this interview rather than 20. China has almost caught up to Japan technologically after 20 years instead of 50-100. He also predicted American economic preeminence for 50-100 years, but that also seems unlikely.
