    Love it but I would leave the smile shading strips off and intense ink or use a softer color fabric on it for a softer look. But that’s just me.

      Yep! I agree, but to be fair it was my first portrait and my first time using inktense in that way which I did point out. The portrait was, and is, adored so that’s the main thing! 😉

    Hi Dawn, You can do fabric collage without finishing with threadpainting especially if you are just going to hang your quilt or stretch over canvas. In my opinion threadpainting finishes it off (but it is ONLY my opinion) I know of other artists who don’t threadpaint. It would be lovely to embellish your quilt with whatever you would like, sequins, beads and including ‘slow stitching’. You can do anything you want😊 It is your artwork, just have fun! 🤩 If you purchase the pattern do post on our Facebook group, we’d love to see facebook.com/share/g/w6ESxVFpoZERhdDX/?mibextid=K35XfP

      @@spearageddon3279 Hey! Thank you for your kind words and thank you for taking time to ask a question, it is a little difficult to answer as the portraits are all different. As I’ve become more experienced in selecting the right fabric, which is crucial in making the portrait realistic it doesn’t take as long now as in the beginning. However you are right still many hours work and only done when I’m feeling creative! 😉

      @@MoofaceDesigns I completely understand every project will be different. I make quilts and while some can be done in a day, others can take months - my longest was one I made for my mom with some applique florals and butterflies I cut out of mesh fabric for formalwear, it was a tedious task but worth it. So I know you put in some serious work here. You're very talented. All the best from Florida. 😊 New sub as well!

    This is such a Great lesson in how to manage your fabric to make it do what you want and showing how you come to the conclusion of using your gray scale to help with your decisions . This process reminds me of the challenge I had with the dog I did in black and gray . I can relate to it being a bit of a struggle and a great lesson , in terms of difficulty being a learning experience. This piece is truly inspiring and amazing work of art

    • @MoofaceDesigns
      @MoofaceDesigns 2 месяца назад

      Hi Kristiana, I’m not really sure what you are asking. I think that question can be answered in my part 5 of series of 7. I don’t ever just put straight onto fabric, I find it easier to use parchment paper as there are far more options if a mistake is made. Hope that helps. ruclips.net/video/NDi00kCzuq0/видео.htmlsi=Ggew1X4MWwF_9Qes

    It's interesting what you mentioned about the colour choice. I am just finding myself in the exact same process with a cat portrait very similar to yours. The background is a curtain and it works fine. But the pet itself is so diffucult for me that I put the whole thing aside.

    • @MoofaceDesigns
      @MoofaceDesigns 2 месяца назад

      Hi Anne, It really is challenging but I’m so pleased with how it’s turned out now it is totally finished and threadpainted. Maybe a little rest from yours will help. Don’t give up on it though, I’m sure you won’t let it beat you. Even if it turns out not quite like you’d hope, I’m certain you will have learned something from it. 😊 There is always beauty in a finished project rather than one languishing in a cupboard somewhere. ….Good luck 🍀

    Hi Anne, I guess you can work any way which you find the easiest. Usually the eyes and nose are the first things I do, 1. because they usually have the smallest pieces so I like to get those things out of the way first and 2. I like to talk to the animal as I create it 😂 and I feel you can see the animal better with eyes and nose! I suppose if you were doing a person probably a good idea to work from back to front starting with darker fabrics working towards the lights, but even then I probably wouldn’t do it that way. The good thing about art is that you can do it whichever way gets you the best results and there are no art police to tell you you should do it a certain way (unless you are entering a competition, then you really must do things the way they want you to!) 😉 Great question! 😊

    Thank you for sharing the process. George's family must be so very glad to have this memory of him. Do you think it is easier/better to create the most prominent features first? I always thought in collages like this you work from back to front.
