Great cars! I have a 2010 with 4.6 super reliable
Great review. Helping a friend sell his 2007 Impreza that he bought with a blown engine. He replaced it with a very nice looking used one. Going to drive it tomorrow. He said no ck engine lights. Black, automatic, with new tires on factory gold wheels. Im thinking 4 grand. The car has 146 thousand miles. Yours is very nice.
I’m a mom, but I’m a car enthusiast. I’m watching this bc I’m currently shopping a trade in from my modded Mustang to an Outback. I need something that can handle terrible road conditions, the Stang has too much torque with rear wheel drive and makes for an interesting go in bad conditions. Also, the state of roads these days is killing my suspension.
I have one of these with 139K miles on it. I've owned it since 2015 (now 2023) the most maintenance free, trouble free car I've ever owned. Nothing but oil changes and 1 brake job since I've owned it. It's fast (0-60 in 5.5 seconds), fun to drive, comfortable, the engine is sewing machine smooth, gets great gas mileage (my wife drives it on a highway commute and regularly gets over 30mpg). Can't recommend Genesis enough. Fantastic vehicles.
Great, balanced review. Thanks!
My 2018 3.6r is the best car I’ve ever owned. I’ve had a LOT of cars over my 40 years of road driving and this is the stand out for sure. My farm has dirt roads all round and it sticks to them like glue….and when you take it out onto the tarmac it’s even better. It’s an all rounder that does it all really well.
Loved this car man. It just sucks they had so many mechanical problems
I just got a Outback 3.6. I need to learn how best to drive these mountains here in pa. Especially in the snow. - Help !
Bro you are a great listen! Where are you?
I’m buying a 2013 Hyundai Genesis 3.8 with 53k miles in 2022 for 17k with 1 owner. I test drove it this morning and it felt like a brand new vehicle. It honestly feels like a blessing. Thanks for all the info in this video and I laughed a few times because I was thinking some of the things you said about how nice of a drive it is. Hope y’all are doing well 5 years later!
I wanna buy one to in 2023 how is yours holding up
@@demardaley5168 58k miles now and still running like a dream.
@@opinionofonion4267 update?
You will love it. Our 2013 has 139K on it and has had ZERO problems. Still drives fantastic. I will be buying another Genesis for our next vehicle.
i bought mine for 7k with 78k miles on it. one owner. Old man owned it for 10 years and only 78k on it. This car drives like it just came out of the factory.
Probably my favorite vehicle since I’ve been driving. The outback.
Bought one just like this, a 5 speed. Although I’ve never driven one. Stalled it three times but got it now and will probably stall later but it’s fun
To avoid stalling, just hit the clutch when braking
How about mechanical reliability?
What's the automatic transmission in these?
Its automatic
A 4 speed auto which has been used in Subaru's for a very long time before the CVT came in...
U just can’t drive
I’m looking at buying a 2007 Subaru Impreza pretty much stock the guy is a mechanic and claims to have done a fix up every 5000km, but the engine has around 257,000 km on it and was wondering if that is a bit much this if my first car and wanted to know if that was a good idea or not
Definitely not a good idea. Thats alot of kms & will end up a money pit. Buy something newer with less kilometres. You’ll save a fortune in the long run. Remember the poor man always pays twice.
My 3.6 is lowered 1", with Bilsteins with a tune, and intake and the car can be made for an enthusiast.
I mean, even as an enthusiast, you need a normal car that can get you through anything.. because let’s face it - you modify the fk out of your race car and you end up not being able to drive it all the time :) The Outback is fantastic.
Good video I couldn’t find one like this for 2013 model thank you
I just got a 07 Impreza sedan does the led headlights work for it
Appreciate the reviews quarter way thru the video and appreciate your opinion and knowledge. You might have made a few errors when saying the type of engine but regardless I appreciate the review. Do you still have her and how has she held up.
cut out the muffler there you go +50hp
I threw 245's on the front and 275's on the rear and the thing corners like a beast now
what size rims?
@@SHTRU 19s
19x10 in the rear, 19x8.5 in the front
@@kerpail your tire sizes? 245x?x19 and 275x?x19
@@SHTRU Yes. And wheel sizes are in an above comment, I don't recall what the offsets are though sorry
Glad I stayed up and searched this up😂 great video man!
I have the same exact model and I’ve been wondering what to do to it, I love my car as it is my first car. I also want to learn how to work on it myself.
There's a 2007 Subaru Impreza 2.5i for $3200 with 213,000 miles. Head gasket replace at 113,000 . Thinking about it
I was thinking, "Who the hell is Brian?"
I drive an 07 Impreza with 355k. I bought it at 330k because it blew a timing belt going down interstate at 75 mph because of failed timing belt tensioner. I’m a mechanic and did my research. Everyone seemed to think the engine needed to be replaced but after inspection of the piston heads and bent valves since it is interference engine I decided to just replace all 16 bent valves, valve seals, head gaskets and a timing belt kit. I had to reseat the valve guides as they had pushed out of their original position that caused some exhaust valves to not to seat firmly. It was risky because I couldn’t find info on anyone doing this and it working out. So far so good I love the car handles and drives great. Just took it on a road trip no problems. I recommend this car
A big comfy fast car doesn't fit in the family. *pulls into Subaru dealer. I see you have two moms.
Dude it's the same engine lol the only difference is the turbo which is why the WRX/STI are faster!
I know im 1 year late on the comment but .. Not really its not the same block 2.5i has a open deck EJ253 block and the sti has a semi open deck (not closed but still) sti has lower compression ratio (that lets room for way more boost ) sti can handle 20lbs of boost on stock internals and the 2.5i can only hold max 5psi (above that you can blow up some stuff) besides all those things and the 6 speed manual trans that can hold up to 600hp and the electronic Diferential that you can choose to close or open with a button and some brakes and suspention maybe even the drive shaft i guess they are the same car lol … im a proud owner of a 2.5i btw (i had an sti before tho)
You obviously have no idea. Why comment on something you know nothing about. The engines are like chalk & cheese
@@k9-unit-australia275 dude Ik a lot about cars, I have had more cars then everyone in your family combined haha but I honestly could care less about some tonka toy ha, I'm all about American muscle & would bet anything that my built 78 el camino would smoke any WRX that you put in front of it!
@@jeremiahc620 first of all we were talking about subarus and nobody asked what do you drive or what do you like … everyone here can like v8s too but thats not the point we were talking about how the 2.5i and the wrx and sti are different and not only missing the turbo Sistem dont get mad when people teach you because thats the only way to learn..by learning
@@danieltowita5505 first off your not teaching me shit ha & don't get butthurt cause someone has a muscle car that would eat those little rice burners & speaking of teaching somebody needs to teach you how to spell ha, it's *system 🤣
nice video. Just looking at the 2016 3.6R touring. I'm the guy you mention at the end of video with kids etc lol
0-60 in 5.3 right?
Yep With manual mode and esc off
Would a turbo be a bad idea for this car?
Yes it can only handle 6 or 7 psi before blowing up
I felt that broken ABS 😂 I love/hate when people think I have an sti, and I have to tell them “nah I’m not that cool”
Why would people think its an sti ? Im guessing you’re trying to make it look like an sti to get attention.
Yep, I can agree with most of what you said about the 3.6R. I bought a 2019 and it puts my 4x4 truck to shame. Not sure what you means about it not being nimble in tight situations, but if you've ever driven a full size truck off-road then you'd say the 3.6R is as nimble as a chimpanzee with the speed of a cheetah. In fact, I bought this to eventually do full off-roading with it. The theme I got from XV and other Subie owners was they wished their car had more power. Well, the 3.6R does. Yet, all that said, I bought it partly for my wife to drive to work because of the safety features as she works 3rd shift.
Good video
Awesome video, subscribed!
Our 2016 3.6 limited has been the best vehicle we've ever purchased. Extremely spacious for a family of 4. The 3.6 really drives so smooth and barely seems to even be working while going up the steepest mountains. Throw a rack on top and you have a great outdoor vehicle that the whole family can easily pack up for a long camping trip. It will get up and go, takes turn great, and overall is just an extremely pleasurable drive for its original 40k price point. We're looking to buy a second one used since they no longer produce the 3.6.
Homey you look like Nolan from Donut (RUclips) channel
It doesn’t matter what the car is you can make any car fast if your willing to spend money I’ve seen Honda’s and Subaru that can put muscle cars to shame

You still make videos man I checked your thing and you posted this 2 years ago. Come back man I’ll sub to you you seem to be cool and chill. 😎.
Finding parts is hard? That explains why the insurance salvage them when they wreck was not a big deal. Since they're hard to get, they're probably expensive to import. It's the end of 2019, a junk yard should have more of these to get your parts. :)
2022 now and it’s never been harder
The only ones in junk yards are wrecked ones, these things are bullet proof, they don't break down. Mine has 139K on it and runs like new. ZERO repairs required to date. (2023).
I love my car! Only real quibble for me as you mentioned is the throttle response. It is something I care a lot about in a car, and going from cable actuated to a less than perfect electronic throttle is a difficult adjustment
There's a one-owner near me with 117000 miles for $8,000
112k I'm going to check it out tomorrow if I get it I'll let you know. videos like this always bring people who are looking or just bought lol.
Hope you got it! I've been looking and just bought a 2006 wrx wagon. Was looking at the base models or a legacy gt but was lucky to find a deal
@@ctt544 the 2.5 RS was uninspiring in an automatic and had a whiny sound (may have just been this car) They had a wrx wagon 07 but it needs to go to the body shop first, and man the seats we're covered in dog hair. I think I want the WRX, but it kind of sucked to see it prior to prep for detailed. How much did you pay? What did the Carfax look like?
@@RedPillVegan I spent 9k on a 2006 wrx wagon. Very clean body and interior. The carfax/service records had oil changes every 3k miles and all proper service of timing belts and head gasket etc at the right intervals. I have never seen such extensive records before. It was a 1 owner who kept it stock save for a catback exhaust that has a slight rumble but nothing too crazy. I spent the 9 because of the service records and the quality of the vehicle. Hope that answers your questions
Christian K VERY helpful and i think you got a good deal. Service and maintenance is worth more than you can imagine. Still looking here, i do think i want the wrx more than the impreza NA engine.
I think u should make more videos i enjoyed it
I got a 5 speed , not complaining about the speed.
Do u know what the 0-60 is?

15:45 I can completely relate. I floored it during the rain at an open intersection... not knowing there was a sheriff heading my way... and I lost traction and was sideways probably for a full 2 seconds but nothing :) I probably would have been hella fined if I had a much faster car. Like this man says, it's so much fun to drive a slow car fast than a fast car slow.
