The Shining scared the crap out of me.

But he made it his way and became the staple of Horror. I can name 10 King movies that could have been amazing if Kubrick was behind the camera.

It became the benchmark of horror movies that when you think about them continues to excite. You want to go back and rewatch after you had a while to think about it and see if what happened and why you though it happened, actually did happen. I loved the book too. Both are unique and outstanding but both for different reasons. I wished that the remake of The Shining movie was true to Stephen King's version rather than a bland weak sauce version of Kubrick's classic but I don't see anyone with the balls to take this on. Maybe Tarantino. I think he's got the eye for detail and the craziness and obsession to do the book justice.

Stephen King such a great writer. Too bad he's mentally unstable nowadays with his politics.
