20 years ago I'd put this album on my stereo, lay down on my couch, and get lost. This was the track that would snap me back out of it. The whole album is such an amazing piece. An incredible journey.
@@ronk4073 Really appreciate your kind words about Gabriel’s. Generally people have a lot to say about Satellites. And that’s been wonderful. But less to say about Gabriel’s. So thank you again. It means a lot.
@@jamesadkisson7510 Thank you friend, for guiding me on many journeys.
It's so delicate, I am afraid to touch it.
Nicely done Mr JA. Always cool sound scapes.
Wow, love this 🖤🖤
Very cool James. Thx.
As inventive as usual. Well done...
The madcap laughs!
Interesting for sure. Always very good layering. Nice job Mr J.
Keep it up in 2024!
Thanks for always listening!
Wow! You guys amazed me back then and still do today. Thanks for all the great sounds.
Thanks for always giving us a listen!
Very nice tune, James. Hope you are well. I wish you a happy new year.
Thank you! It’s been a kinda rough year. Hope everyone has a good 2024!
Pay your dues…for the duration ❤.
So here i am
0:09 My first new song. Kewl song.
Thanks, I wanted to put something up for the New Year. I just used on line mastering so maybe a better version later.
Fun effects use. Well done. Fripp would be happy for sure.
Thanks that’s a nice compliment.
"I don't know why I'm here"
Do you know where that’s from?
@@jamesadkisson7510 Nope, but intrigued to know
@@PerpetualAlfa Sometimes I forget the different samples that we used but I was watching this again recently and the sentence popped out. It’s from The Hunger. ruclips.net/video/7a6YFwC2zKA/видео.htmlsi=9r8xTRyFkWQkFHhN
Spellbinding. James, do you have live recordings of Snuff Gold and Blindshore you could upload?
Hello. Thanks for being interested. I don’t currently know that I do. Both of those songs we rarely played. But I have a couple live cassettes that still need to be digitally transferred. I might find one of those. There are still a few songs to upload from this particular show. I also always have a call out to anyone that might have something. We covered Massive Attack Angel about three times. I keep hoping someone recorded it.
My favourite. Masterpiece~ 🖤🤍🖤
Appreciate that!!
Waiting for night all day. Loving it. : )
Cool weird vibes. Like it.
The recordings from this show are so good. Sonic. The performances are not bad either. What, 1997?!
Thanks. Since we put the show together. Not at a club. Reese brought mics and the ADAT. That’s how we have a good recording. I have a vague memory of plans to do something with the recordings.
@@jamesadkisson7510 Love this song. These are probably the best live recordings of you guys I have heard thus far. Reese’s plaintive vocals are so present yet warm, but everyone is in the mix. Do you recall what you used for a sound/mix board?
@@Claytone-Records I’m not sure what the board was. I can check with Reese.
@@jamesadkisson7510 I used to wonder where some of the boards used at the numerous SXSW shows were unearthed from. I remember a show you guys did at Sauerbrun (sp?) Hall on Red River during a March probably end of last century. That thing must have been from the 60’s or early 70’s. It had huge lit vu meters and not too many channels. But it had a decent sound. Might have had tubes in it. Calls must have gone out far and wide for ‘Any old boards’ to meet the demand with all the new temp venues shrooming up anywhere for one week only. Some of those places sprung up in outdoor spaces between buildings.
@@Claytone-Records hadn’t thought of that. But yeah they turned any nook and cranny into a spot to play during SxSW
Tuuuuunnee
Good times!!!
Awesomeness!! Thank you!!
Masterpiece
Cool. Enjoyed it.
Sort of has that throwback psychedelic vide.
I’m in! Does this sound sweet or what? One of my faves.
Remarkable. Keep them coming please James. AASAS is a feat of musical splendour. Thanks to you and the band for producing it, it's probably my favourite album of all time.
Thank you so much for the kind words! It means a lot. Did you see I just posted “ Lost” from this show. There will be a few more to post that are in good enough shape.
Excellent sounds on this recording, man. You lot are tight and On. And didn’t blow out the power that I recall. What I do remember are Marshmallow Treats. Don’t get those beauties just anywhere.
Wow! Great sounding recording here. Minidisc? Could you please remind me where the Public Domain Theater was, I can’t seem to place it.
807 Congress Ave. It was a venue people could rent. We had a few shows here and also at the Movements Gallery. This show Reese hauled in the ADAT recorder. We had forgotten about it. I think at the time we hoped to have some good live recordings to give labels or maybe even the mailing list. I know I had cassette tape to listen to. And eventually ended up with one song from that on my computer. I mentioned it recently to Reese and he dug around in his files and found most of the songs from that night.
@@jamesadkisson7510 Oh yes. I do remember at least one show there. I seem to recall rice krispy treats. I recently found a minidisc show from Stubbs 7/28/2000 with Hi Fi Drowning opening. I had been looking for that particular show for awhile. I am looking for the cd safety copies as my old md deck is temperamental. What fun we had! I hope you are well. P.s. I remember that handout. Kinko’s? Many the night there.
When we were trying to figure out where the songs were recorded Reese didn’t remember Public Domain until I said I thought one time we had Rice Crispy Treats. 😊 Yeah since we put the show together and knew how long we could play etc I decided to make a program for it. Would like to hear the show at Stubbs you are talking about.
@@jamesadkisson7510 Hey man! That is so far out: I read the Congress ave address and saw the rice krispy treats before me, instantly. : ). And the Stubbs show I have on md. It is a soundboard rec of excellent performances by both bands. And weren’t Hi Fi kinda happening? I think the sound is better on your recording here. I will see to a disc.
Hearing this makes me miss the 90's even more.
So 60s. Great track. Nice undercurrent. Well done.
Fantastic!! Timeless!! Thank you!!
James..that's a fantastic live recording!
Hey! Yeah. I was going through stuff and I told Reese that I had a good recording of Lost. And I had some memory of us dragging in the Adats and him setting up mics at a show. He checked his stuff and there he had multi track recordings of a show. So he’s mixed them. And I did some online mastering. More to come.
@@jamesadkisson7510 I can't wait to hear them
This is amazing! Are you going to upload the rest of this tape?
Hey thanks. We realized we have most of the songs from this live show recorded. So we are going through and getting them to sound good enough to upload. The show was something that we put together. It was not at a club. So we knew how long we could play and what songs. That’s one reason we were able to record it also I made that program for the event.
Very nice!! <3
How do you play the drum part on this song? It sounds absolutely insane.
I’ll put the question to Scott and see what he says.
Thanks Copernicus! I appreciate the kind compliment. That was a very physical song - especially live. Big cymbals- I had a 24" Paiste Rude Ride, a 20 or 21" Wuhan China, and a mix of Zildjian & Sabian crash cymbals. Hi-hat only for keeping time. That song had a neat repeating flam/kick/16th note snare bit that Reese mic'd up to sound huge in the Alesis ADAT days. The tribal part - like during the REM inspired verse- was a 16th note pattern that alternated between 10, 12, 14, & 16" toms and I placed the kick on 1 & 3 and snare on 2 and 4. Left stick on the high toms, and right stick on the low toms and snare. In retrospect that's exactly what happened. At the time we recorded it was all a happy accident.
@@scottsasser4155 thanks! ^^

Awesome cover
: ) Ah yes, feedback is like some kind of gateway drug to ambiance, possibly. I have enjoyed all of these covers you have put up in the last few months, but really like that you revisited this tune with a ‘proper’ video. Plus it’s great to see you. C.
Hey glad you are liking these. I plan to do more videos for these cover songs. Hope you doing good!
Hi. I was wondering if I could use three of your songs from A Five And Dime Ship for a school project. The songs I wanted to use were: Gone, Narcosis, and To Enjoy More Power Bass Sound. If I have permission, please let me know how you'd like to be credited. Thanks.
Hello. That would fine if you would like to use them. You can just credit the songs to the band. And if there is any way to see the finished project please let us know!
Classic JA … perhaps…. Cool song. Well done. Attention getting and evolving.
Beautifully done. We are standing on the edge… still. Truly lucky.
