Melding traditional stories and medieval lyrics with modern sounds, Falconbridge is an eclectic folk project created by songwriter and vocalist Monique Bouchard.
The music of Falconbridge speaks to times long gone by in a modern tone - taking the listener to a place where lord and lady join forces on the battlefields of war as well as love; where dragons still can be seen in the mountains; and where friendship can conquer any evil. It's a place where ravens speak and warhorns echo across windy beaches.
Prior to the creation of Falconbridge, Bouchard's first album was the independent solo album "I Am of the North" released under the name of Aneleda Falconbridge. With minimal production and many unaccompanied pieces, these songs of battle and love are performed as if before a crackling fire.

Ode to the Narrator
-- Ode to the Narrator --
Once a man was born
Whose voice was like
A cool well
From within that man
Came songs
To bruise and heal
That man
That fine man
That fine dark man
When he was born
The flooding streams
Repeated his babbling
Through the land
The frogs grew greener
And stones settled in their places
Would strain to follow when he passed
Once a man was born
Whose voice was like
Running horses
From within that man
Came thoughts
As swift as stallions
That man
That dark man
That dark sweet man
When he was born
The trees themselves
Cast down their blossoms
To the ground
The leaves grew greener
And paths long-set in their places
Would strain to follow when he passed

Maiden in the Moor Lay
Просмотров 1,4 тыс.4 года назад
This beautiful 14th-century Middle English lyric, Maiden in the Moor Lay, is about a lady who lives in the wilderness for seven full nights, and discusses what she ate (flowers), drank (water from the spring), and where she slept (a bower of flowers). Nobody knows who she was, or why she was in the wilderness. It's been performed for more than 700 years. It was performed by Monique Bouchard in ...
Cold Earth In Her Fingers - Falconbridge

"Cold Earth In Her Fingers" is inspired by the folk horror podcast "Old Gods of Appalachia" (www.oldgodsofappalachia.com/), specifically Episode 0.5: The Witch Queen. Download available at falconbridge.bandcamp.com/ She's got the cold earth in her fingers She's got the green moss in her hair She's got the cold earth in her fingers She's got the green moss in her hair The scent of summer lingers...
Darkest Raven

Available at falconbridge.bandcamp.com. This last song of a dying soldier preparing to wed Death was inspired by a centuries-old Cossack folk song, "Černyj voron." (Known also as Chjorniy Voron, Chorjni Voron, "Черный Ворон / Black Raven"). (The folk song was featured in the TV series Chernobyl, but this is a quite different take on the piece.) This version is sung from the perspective of a wom...
By the Weight of the Chain

I wrote this song as a song about chivalry. To me, the best acts of chivalry are enacted with a heart of joy and forward motion and so this song shoots for both. I hope you enjoy it! Available at falconbridge.bandcamp.com. By the Weight of the Chain By the weight of the chain of gold I wear upon me By the white of the cloth about my body bound By the spurs on my heels I do swear upon my honor t...
Valkyries Choose the Battle-Dead

The story of Gunnar's death in the Norse saga "The Story of Burnt Njal" is both historic and epic. This is the story of his appearance as a ghost by his cairn, witnessed by his son Hogni and his friend, Njal's son, Skarp-Heðinn. The verses of the song are inspired by the 1861 translation by George Webbe Dasent. The lyrics of the song's chorus were translated and interpreted by Fridrikr Tomasson...
Strong paladin vibes on this one
I have had this song stuck in my head for days now! I'm genuinely surprised this isn't more well known
Can we get more music like this? The vocals have such power, and as many have said, the optimism and knightly virtue that suffuse the piece captures the appeal that people love about this age and its stories.
I think you managed. It's uplifting and very onward! moving. It was a joy finding it in my Mega Mix list and it's on my favorites list now.
Just found this song and it is amazing. To say the least ive listened 10+ times this week. Influenced some characters in me.
We restoring the HRE with this one boys!
This brings me such joy! I love the unabashed joy and unwavering faith the song portrays. It's the best feeling of motivation. I'm not sure if I phrased that well, but regardless, it makes me smile! I feel like it belongs at an SCA or Ren Faire performance.
I feel the same way. It's such a moving song.
life before death, strength before weakness, journey before destination
Just found this masterpiece of a song, immediately purchased it on Bandcamp. Please support this art!
I hope some DnD DM has used this song for a truly great paladin.
love this. This song gives the same feeling as that scene in Kingdom of Heaven in the final battle where the priest asks "does making a man a knight make him a better fighter?"
Absolutely amazing. Well done!
I feel like I have stumbled upon treasure. Only 3510 views? It's a simple melody but the lyricism is fantastic and the performance is frankly astounding.
Love this so much. Makes me think of Tamora Pierce stories and leaves me wanting to play a paladin.
Wow, this just popped up in a Miracle Of Sound shuffle and I'm a little sad that that it took so long for this to find me. Not sure what it is about this song, but it hits me just right, uplifting, inspiring, goose bump inducing, but also makes me want to tear up for some reason
Ironically I was playing fallout when this song hit wearing power armor
We we the pirate we we clank are cups and we free free free!!!!
As an archeology student with a Middle Ages special interest I’m literally obsessed. Have you tried BardCore? You’d probably like it!
This slaps hard! awesome song!
is this available anywhere else like spotify?
This song makes me want to put on some shiny ass armor and go fight to the heathens in the war
Incredibly good music to write to
I love this song so so deeply. I need it on Spotify or something
I love leather crafting to this!
Love this song... and can't get over the impression of it being Kel's song from Tamora Pierce's "Protector of the Small" series. I seriously keep getting flashes of her journey to knighthood while listening to this.
Oh wow it's rare to see someone else that knows that series. It's an excellent comparison I think because she was exactly what this song is talking about. Someone who wanted to be a knight for all the right reasons and never lost that.
This reminds me of the characters in a trilogy I’m working on. They establish an order of warriors. They’re called something other than knights but that’s essentially what they are. I’ve added it to my playlists for those characters! It’s so beautiful. I’ll be listening to this on repeat ❤
@amatiamat showed me this song a while back and I've adored it since they did so, and now I'm planning to make a new oathbreaker paladin character based off of it! This song brings me so much inspiration I doubt I'll ever tire of listening to it.
Time to train. I wanna be a Knight too.
Incredible bit of music!
Cant belive this has only 130 comments in these 2 years Ive known this song
I dont know if you/yall still read these comments, but this song is truly amszing. I agree with @shawns.8362, im on repeat 15 and don't see myself stopping anytime soon
And I feel Scadian in this Chili's...
This song feels purpose built to be about Kingdom Come: Deliverance
I came across this song today, and fell absolutely in love with it.
Any chance we could get a version of this on Spotify? Or maybe some other download/physical version? This gives me such tingly feelings and memories of looking up to knighthood as a child.
I really should have listened to this earlier. I'm a reenactor portraying a 13th century household knight, and this song expresses exactly how I feel.
goes very fucking hard
I wish I could place my finger on the exact reason this song feels so... powerful. Im a writer, and I'd love to capture this same feeling in words, but I can't place why it rings. The lyrics tell a story, but they pass an emotion as well. Maybe it's the idea of full commitence to something freater than one's self. Maybe it is fantasitcal, but I have always wanted to find that one thing I could fully dedicate myself too. Maybe that's why this song speaks so profoundly to me. At any rate, this song is dreadfully under viewed. You have made a work of art.
I think what makes it “epic” is the invocation. “By the the weight of the chain… I swear upon my honor.” Makes it feel like they’re fighting for something bigger than themselves. Find someone or something your characters can swear to “for the honor of the Light” “For Queen and country” “For the God Emperor” etc. as well as being marketable it gives weight to characters actions. Alternatively you could go in the complete opposite direction (the Connan and Berserk route) have the enemies invoke higher powers but your protagonist cuts through them without praying to anything because they’re just that strong or their gods don’t really care about them. Both are epic in there own way and it depends on the feel you want your story to have. Hope that helps.
Well done Youtuve algorithm for throwing this banger at me. *dances at my desk*
I just got it as well 😅
Awesome song
Its the best song i listened to last two years! Pls, don't delete it!
As a police officer, I always wanted to help those in need since I was a kid. This song really speaks to me, even though in todays climate I'm treated terribly simply because of the public view has against law enforcement. Fantastic song to help remember why I do what I do.
How did it take me two years to hear this song? What offense have I committed in God's Eyes that He would withhold this?.
Love this
👌
RUclips threw this into a random playlist for me about an hour ago, and an hour later, I'm STILL listening to this incredible song. Liked and subscribed; I'm ready to pick up a sword and take an oath. ⚔
Great song! However, I am a bit literal minded, and I worry about accidental loopholes in oaths. "...till I lay beneath the ground" is not the same as "till I am dead". While it is unlikely that someone will demand the knight to uphold knightly virtues between his death and funeral, the oath technically ends if he takes a nap in a cave, as that would be laying beneath the ground.
You might want to watch out for knights living in sod houses too. 😉 (I hope this isn't keeping you up at night too much!)
Y'all need to make more music like this
Just stumbled upon this. Very good!
When will this be on Spotify
