Sure, the ex GF shouldn't have chatted to the guy on discord, but even though the majority of people like to think they would never allow themselves to get dragged into a situation where they can be pressured into sending pictures they shouldn't, the bad persons doing these things are really, really good at what they're doing. Here is an idea. Tell Kate and her husband you will established a revocable educational annuity trust for the kids. If they meet certain requirements such as demonstrated work ethic, demonstrated respect, moral integrity and character, and if they show proper dedication with a determination toward supporting each other in love, then the fund will be opened to them for higher education of their choice. If not the fund will be given to someone deserving outside the family. This way the no one can gripe, and the fund is established out of the determined changes of individual character. Selfish entitled parents must change or their children won’t ever meet the requirements. Easy way to see if the whole family will really get serious about setting aside favoritism.

The funny part is that Kate's husband and parents somehow can't support each other. If you can't afford your kids, you should've put them up for adoption. These stories remind me that no matter how dysfunctional my family was, at least my parents did their best to love all their children as much as they could. At different times of our lives some of us were more difficult to love, even then we knew that when we stopped being a jerk it would be easier for there to be more love. It’s not that the love for a child isn’t there. Sometimes their actions builds a wall between the child and the parent preventing the expression of the love.

Two words: Paternity test. The timeline makes it so there is no way that she hadn't given birth by the end (no mention on the baby or the gender and no mention on if she miscarried or terminated which I feel would have been relevant but most likely didn't as OP was 'skipping out as a father' meaning the baby was probably born) and requesting a paternity test via court would be faster and easier. Reaching out to friends and family is stupid when reaching out to the court would be better and be more realistic if he wanted proof. It would put the claim to bed and get Jenny on defamation, potentially also protecting OP from a false paternity claim later on if the rumor mill makes it seem like he is skipping out on being a father and also child support. Tho I understand it not totally being realistic or sounding real when it definitely sounds like a fanfic tbh with the way it's written. The way everyone betrayed him and then just as easily believed him later (almost totally believed him) is weird and seems to quick. Like, no one actually talked to him too or listened or requested a paternity test/take him to court so he can pay up? Like not only request it to him but urge Jenny to do so? People were also getting conflicting stories and no one thought to clarify it with OP when Jenny was silent? Also Jenny texted him at the end pretty much confirming that she let it spiral out of control and it was a lie, he could just screen shot or record the text and post it/send it everywhere to clear his name but it sounds like the OP never thought of that despite some people probably not believing him still. Also I would have been going to HR to find out who spread the rumor in the work place because now OP has a hostile work environment which probably isn't going away anytime soon. I would also be looking for those friends of theirs that 'filled in the blanks' and helped spiral it out of control because with friends like that who needs enemies? Good premise for the story/fanfic otherwise. Imo it would be more interesting if it was actually one of their other friends that got Jenny pregnant (one of the ones who helped spread the rumor) by a one night stand but he didn't want to be on the hook for paternity and Jenny liked OP more than the other dude (or liked the other dude enough to want to help commit paternity fraud to keep him around because he threatened to dip from her life otherwise or just didn't want to be put down on the birth certificate for whatever reason, ooo maybe he already has a partner and Jenny is his side piece) so they concocted the 'prank' to set OP up to look like the father. Then from there Jenny got cold feet about lying about OP and stayed silent out of guilt (or if liked the other dude, the 'complicated stuff' is trying to maintain a relationship with the other dude while caring for a newborn, maybe either he tries to 'step up' where OP 'failed' if they have a secret relationship or is ghosting her after the birth if he cheating with her). Then if you want a big plot twist Megan, who helped OP talk to Jenny, is the partner of the dude who got Jenny pregnant and maybe Jenny reveals more out of guilt to her. Then the truth comes out and Megan gets divorced from the AH, OP gets his name cleared, Jenny gets repercussions and Meegan and OP get together (where I thought that was going tbh)
