Hybrid Stringing Tennis Guide
For more details read the Hybrid Stringing Tennis Guide here: brianbollmantennis.com/resources/hybrid-stringing-tennis/
Hybrid stringing is taking two different strings and combining them in your tennis racket setup. In this video we discuss how it works, some examples, and some general guidance on the hybrid stringing process.
For most players a hybrid string setup makes the most sense. Full polyester might be too stiff and lack the power and feel your looking for but a full bed of synthetic, natural gut, or multifilament might just be way too much power so a hybrid is a logical choice.
Hybrid stringing is essential a tempering process. Your mains contribute to about 80% of the playability ...

Yonex Polytour Strike Review and Playtest

Full Review: brianbollmantennis.com/services/stringing/yonex-polytour-strike/ Yonex Polytour Strike is a harder more control oriented polyester tennis string. My biggest complaint is the lack of response and fe...
Tennis Racket Stringing Speed Run
Просмотров 2,1 тыс.4 года назад
This took me approximately 18 minutes and 38 seconds on a 16x19 Babolat Aero Pro Drive. I was inspired by a video by the French Open on racket stringing which stated on average it takes their stringers 15 minutes to string a racket. That seemed insane to me at the time but with the right machine and weaving technique it's possible if you discount the prep time. For this speed run I already moun...

    can you detail how you set tension, on what side of the rod you set it , in my case it's not clear, could be left or right from that big weight drum.

  • @mohongzhi
    @mohongzhi 26 дней назад

    I use all these methods, it depends on what kind of string and what tension you do. The key is to make sure the first pull won't slip and won't too tight because you don't have a very good oppturnity to adjust the first clip you use. Other wise they almost same. Except the last one. the last one use only one clip to start, very easy to distory you most import section of string by too loose or too tight.

    Always keep some long spare string or cut some old string long enough with your machine so that you don't need to cut from a reel.

    Fantastic video, thank you Brian! My son just started playing HS, and coming from a very long break myself, we jumped onto the green string seen everywhere. I played with gut when I was younger so the difference in feeling (or lack of) was quite the surprise. We've since ditched full poly, and have been trying different multifilaments as well as poly/multi combinations. The 4G/NXT combo you show is one I personally like alot, 4G Rough on the mains with NXT Control on the crosses. I completely agree with you on how it plays. What I'm curious now is the growing number of thin poly strings(18~20g) that are becoming more available. Would these be suitable for a 14yo? My son has yet to experience any tennis elbow, so I would hate to introduce something that might cause it.

    Thanks for the information, I think that a first step for Juniors into polys is with the syn-gut in the mains and poly in the cross. That would introduce the player into the world of polys without injuries, after he brakes those strings fast, then go to poly main crossed with a Syn-gut.

    Very good information. So far my experience stringing and playing. Using Wilson NXT Control (16G) on mains at 60 pounds and Golden Set poly (18G) on crosses at 55 pounds. It was easy to cut the string after a few games. Now if you swap the strings, poly on mains, and gut on crosses, then it is much more durable. Definitely I will not recommend Wilson NXT because the price and durability in a Hybrid configuration, and trying now with alternatives like Head Velocity MLT (16G).

    I know it's an old video, but anyone run into the problem when doing the crosses the levers that locks the base of the clamps run into each other. This happens when you’re about 2/3 of the way thru with the crosses. It's when you can no longer swivel the base of the clamps away from each other, because the lever starts hitting the vertical column at each end that connects the base of the machine to the top mounts. Unless I’m doing something wrong, it makes you wonder why couldn’t they make the lever shorter.

    You're actually losing about 3 minutes because you let the end of the string drop to the floor so you keep having to re-find it every time you tension. Keep it in your hand or put it in the next hole of the racquet so it's readily available and you will make the 15 minute mark no problem.

    If someone is constantly breaking the string, does it make sense to put a 15 poly on the main and a 16 syn gut on the cross and maybe also lower the tension of the cross by 1lb to extend the life? If not what's your recommendation?

    • @taytay8732
      @taytay8732 Год назад

      The 3-5 extra pounds isn't to actually make it last longer as the multi loses tension slower than the mains. It's to even out the feeling of the strings. The idea is you string the cross at your normal tension and the polys 10% lower

    I'm wondering when it comes to bridging on whether or not it makes a difference to use the exact same string used in the bridge as the string being pulled due to the fact that the elasticity of both strings match. What happens if you are stringing gut and then bridge with a poly? The poly isn't nearly as elastic as the gut and wouldn't the bridge apply a different tension on the gut as a result?
