Did you like campsite 1? I noticed it was at the entrance so was wondering if it had a lot of traffic and road noise.
Yes I did like site 1. The site has lots of tall trees and has good shade during much of the day. Also the trees and shrubs offer a little more privacy than many of the sites.
@@northwestcampervantravels7248 Thank you!
Really lovely. Not too far from us. We may take a trip before summer’s end. Thanks much
I hope you enjoy a visit to this great place. Thanks for the nice comment.
June Lake camp seemed not as solar friendly as I wanted, so I choose Oh! Ridge. Too each his/her own.
Yes, many of the June Lake Campground sites have more trees and shade while the Oh Ridge Campground is more open with more sun. On a warm day it is a trade off of privacy and cool shade vs sun and solar recharge of your batteries. Even with the shade at June Lake, I got enough solar to recharge my van batteries. Oh Ridge also has a larger beach. It is great to have such nice options.
Beautiful place and great video!¡! Thank you!!
Thanks for the very nice comment.
Very nice indeed! I especially enjoy your drone work and noticed you had some footage out front on your bike ride. Well done!
Thanks. Just before this trip I bought a Hover Air X1 which makes it quite easy to do the video from the front as well as the follow video. It makes a nice complement to my DJI drone which could do the same shots, but the DJI is not as easy to set up for these shots.
Great video, thank you for sharing it with us.
Thanks for the nice comment. Glad you enjoyed it
Beautiful area!
It really is! Thanks for the comment.
Great video 🎉 love it ❤️.
Thank you, glad you liked it!
Lovely area...thanks for sharing the video!
So glad you enjoyed it. Thanks for the nice comment.
Is reservation a must or are there spots that's first come first serve?
I wasn't sure. When I camped at Cape Disappointment, I had a reservation. So I emailed the park and checked. They responded that all campsites in the park are reservable. So reservations are recommended. When they have open campsites that have not been reserved, they are available at the park.
Another very enjoyable video! I didn't quite catch the date of your video recording. However, it was very close to when I was in the Port Orford area camping in late July. I was at BLM Edson Creek Campground North and inland of Port Orford. I highly recommend it. Years ago I camped at Humboldt Mountain. But when I checked it on my way North on 101 in July, it was full.
Thanks for the nice comment. I was visiting the Port Orford area the week of July 22. Also, thanks for the tip about Edson Creek, I will put it on my list of places to visit.
Don’t come here. It really stinks. Stay away!
Nice one. I come home from Alaska that way, right around there is usually my last stop. there's a gravel pit a ways South of there, but maybe look into that campground this trip.
Thanks for the comment. The campground seemed filled when I visited in July. Like most of the coastal state parks it is booked pretty heavily during the summer months.
@@northwestcampervantravels7248 I'm not coming back down til mid Sept. I booked what looked like the one with the most space on either side. Normally I don't stay in campgrounds, I'm usually way out in the sticks. We'll see how it is. I like your channel, it's nice and calm, both pretty and informative. Thanks for that. Appreciate it.
Thanks again for the nice comment. I hope you enjoy your visit to Humbug Mtn. State Park.
Wow, great enjoyable video. The area is now on my list. Thanks for sharing.
Glad you enjoyed it! Thanks for the nice comment.
Humbug Mountain and the Port Orford area is probably my favorite section of the Oregon Coast. It is a more quiet, less congested area. Nice video.
Thanks for the nice comment.
lovely area
Yes, it really is nice.
don't think you will be going to the east side this summer!! we had to drive i-90 thru montana to i-15 to get to twin falls, id area from puget sound because i-84 was closed!!!
Thanks for the info. Yes, wildfires now seem to be a problem every summer. I hope to go to central Oregon in September, but I may have to change my plans depending on smoke and/or fires.
Another great Travel Log video. We love the Port Orford area of the Oregon coast. Cheers and safe travels
Thanks so much! I also think that area of the Oregon coast is just splendid.
LOCALS ONLY!
STAY OUT!
Not much on the campground but most OR camps are nice.
Too much narration. But grandious views.
Wonderful. Thank you for sharing your adventure. Always a joy to watch them.
Glad you enjoyed it! Thanks for the comment.
This is my favorite place in the whole wide world. The store has good beach pizza . 🍕
Thanks for the comment and information. I haven't tried the store pizza, good to know about.
We enjoyed your video and are scheduled to spend several days at John Day with family in the fall
Thanks for your nice comment. Enjoy your visit to the John Day River. I haven't been there in the fall. Because the river isn't dammed, I would guess that the river flow would probably be a lot less in the fall.
Loved your video...thank you! I don't know anything about drones and assume you can program your drone to follow you as you walk...?
Linda & Ray, thank you for your nice comment on this video. Yes, some drones have "autonomous" modes that allow them to fly without input. My drone has a "follow me" mode. I position the drone at a good altitude and position to view me. Then on the controller screen, I draw a box around my image. Then as I walk, the drone follows me. As a solo traveler, it is hard to get different view of yourself. I like using the drone to get different looks to my videos.
@@northwestcampervantravels7248 Thank you for your reply. I agree that your use of the drone really enhances your videos.
Any swiming holes there or near by you might know of? Its the only way i can get my son to go out camping with me. Has to have good swim hole. I love how it looks. Thanks for taking your tike to make this video.
Thanks for the comment. I visited Cottonwood Canyon in the spring, not a good time to go swimming as the water flow is high, air and water temperatures low. So I don't know of any swimming holes in the area. As the John Day River is not dammed, flow decreases greatly during the summer. I expect that there probably are places to swim during the summer, but I don't have any first any information.
@@northwestcampervantravels7248 Alright, I appreciate that.Thank you for responding.I like your channel.
Great video! Going to camp here in a few weeks- will be our first campervan trip. Subscribed to your channel too! Thank you.
Thanks for the nice comment. Cape Blanco is a great place, particularly nice for a first campervan trip. And thanks for the subscription.
Good overall summary of the June Lakes area. Great recreational area and, above all for many of us, incredible fishing. But there are ample hiking, backpacking, and backcountry fishing adventures there as well.
Thanks for the nice comment.
Sounds like a hard life. Retired also and avid camper as well, and owner of a Winnebago View. We love that area and are hoping to get back there. Will look over more of your videos for ideas. Thanks!
Thanks for the comment. You are probably aware of these places, but camping along the John Day River at Cottonwood Canyon State Park or further upstream at the BLM sites like Muleshoe offer some of the same kind central Oregon scenery.
Very nice vid. More kayakers than I would have expected.
Thanks. It is a great place to paddle, lots of kayaks and SUPs.
Another great video of a beautiful area. Thanks again for sharing!
Thanks, glad you enjoyed it!
Looked like a nice winding paddle with fantastic views. How were the mosquitos?
The mosquitos were not bad at all. Very few during the day. More in the evening, but still not too bad.
I always really enjoy your videos. The drone shots were great. I could stare at that lake all day. Thanks for sharing!
Thanks for the positive feedback. Yes, it is a lovely lake.
Another great tube. Thanks.
Glad you like it! Thanks for the nice comment.
Thanks for this great staycation on RUclips. I've been a resident of Oregon for nearly 50 years, but have never been to Diamond Lake.
Thanks for the nice feedback. With so many great places in Oregon, it is difficult to see them all.
@@northwestcampervantravels7248 See 40 years of Oregon Field Guide! Stay cool.
Looks like rattlesnake country.
Yes, and there is a lot of central Oregon where you can find rattlesnakes.
Nice job. Have me interested in checking out this river.
Go for it! And thanks for the nice comment.
Great video, as usual! Visited there in 2017.
Thanks Ralph, glad you enjoyed it.
always nice to show the rules board you passed coming in. $5 a night, half with s senior pass. Although with absolutely no services it should be free.
I enjoyed that area when I was there. Nice to see it again!
Glad you enjoyed it.
Beautiful 😍❤️
Thank you! 😊
Very nice 🎉😊
Thanks 🤗
Watching your video makes me want to go back for another visit. Was your visit very recent? How was the temperature? Last time I was there in June a couple years back it was pretty hot so I wasn't able to walk the trails. Thank you for sharing this beautiful area.
Thanks for the nice comment. My visit was three weeks ago, at the end of May. It was warm, but not too hot. As you know from experience, this area can get quite hot.
Great content!! Instantly subscribed. Keep it up!
Welcome to the channel. Thanks for the nice comments.
love the john day river - we live over here in e. oregon and we love the john day some great drone footage! great spot for a camper van! nice video, thanks!
Glad you enjoyed it. Thanks for the nice comment.
I used to always wait till the frame was free of people while shooting things in nature. Then I realized the benefit in many cases to having someone in the shot as a reference of scale. Beautiful videos! Thanks for posting.
Jeremy, thanks again for the nice comments. Yes, people make a good measuring stick in a scene. Also, although I want my videos to be about interesting places, not about me, I think that at least some viewers have an interest in seeing the person that makes the video. Thanks for digging back in my older videos to watch this one.
Fog and mist is what it’s alllll about 💙🙌🏼☺️ SO perfect.
The Oregon coast often has an abundant supply of fog and mist during the winter. Thanks for the comment.
Great video of a beautiful area!! 👍
Thanks Ralph. Glad you enjoyed it
