These guys do not come from money, they've got a good amount of riches now. They're married and have kids. Most of them are past their prime as men, example - Dimuth, Angi, Chandi. Kusal and DDS are reaching this category. This is why these guys are complacent. They think they've got it all when in fact they can do better with their performances and their place in the world. They do not have that killer mentality because of these facts. Most of these guys play not against their opponents, but against Sri Lankan fans, they think they're better than their fans, so that's why they act like b**ches against real opponents but show aggression whenever a fan or media criticizes them. Also, these guys have been below average since 2014-15. If you saw the NZ tour and then ENG tour (post Sanga-Mahela era), we got our asses handed to us, this continued until very recently and now that we're doing okay in test cricket, these guys think they've done their part. You can see how today when DDS addressed the media, when he said, 'I don't think we did bad at all, if you look at the score card, we have done good'. What do you mean bro? What good? What good is a mediocre scorecard, when we can't win? Is that what we aspire for? This is f'cking ridiculous when you see how we have stooped to this level from periods when guys like Arjuna, Sanath, Aravinda, Vaasi, Murali, Sanga, Mahela and Dilshan used to play. Well few things- 1)I really don't understand why we didnt play at least 1 warm up game against a SA state side. No point going to SA 10 days or 1 month before the start if the prep is not top quality. 2) They should have rested the all format players from the NZ Series. Asitha was only given a break the last 2 games, he was playing non stop all formats till then. Bad plater management and being short sighted 3) I agree with the mentality, need to develop a hard nosed - hard minded players. Even Bangala players are more battle hardened in terms of test match intensity

The reality is Chandimal, Mathews, Karunaratne, Mendis and De Silva are part of the post Jayawardene-Sangakkara era and, it was a complete decline they kept losing series after series and they have a losing mentality they are good players but they are not world class and we need a change we need players that haven't been scarred by previous results new blood is needed.

There’s no bangladefication Sri Lanka has improved a lot over the last few years. These lot are waiting to take on Sanath like those Facebook meme page admins and trolls. Especially the bold guy and that woman Sri Lanka(like other Asian teams) has always been poor outside Asia even when we had Murali /Mahela etc, at least we competed well this time, and there’s nothing wrong with taking home advantage, especially in tests. The preview for the 1st match was so one sided till it was made like that SL just had to turn out and they win the match. Let’s hope future preview shows will be more down to earth and accept that the opposition will be strong too and SL might struggle unless they produce a good performance

Sri Lanka cricket should not overprepare for the series. I think this is the reason we often play poorly in the first match. All the energy is spent on preparation, and high expectations are set. However, when it comes to the first match, the team tends to underperform

You guys hyped this team way too much. Our batting is one of the worst, numbers don't tell the entire story, lot of them are fiat track bullies. It's normal for fans to be excited but to think this batting is good enough to be in top 6 of any form of international cricket is bit a extreme optimism.

It is all about mindset. Sanath always says to play aggressively. I think it works in all countries except South Africa. South Africa is a horrible place for batting, especially in the first 15 overs.

i generally dont want such matches, i bathed for srilanka becuase sa has much easier route to wtc. But way sl played was horrendous. When india got out for 46 vs nz it was slightly on similar to this innings. So tough for sl and sa will play in wtc final.

A conversation needs to be had about Dimuth. Dropping catches, getting out cheaply and looking like an elderly amateur out there who only turns up for a WC every 4yrs to usurp a more deserving youngster. When you’re being outscored by Angelo, it’s time to retire.

Unfortunately I can’t see this going to day 4. Really disappointed with our batters.
