Paluma Range NP – Ep 19: Lap of Australia
Full of vitamin D after our island day of sun, we turnaround and head back into the world heritage Wet Tropics area, this time through the Paluma Range National Park. We find the rockslides, drive through rainforest covered mountains and crystal clear creeks, support local at more roadside stalls, rock hop to more waterfalls, briefly solve our money problems and finish with a visit to the tallest waterfall in Aus.
Thanks for watching.

In this video, we start exploring the FNQ region with Will 4 months after he was helping us rush to build Maurice and our canopy back in Perth. We have a close call with our drone in the rainforest while rock hopping to waterfalls, and spoil Will with a flooded car park to camp in, getting the full Wet Tropics experience. Matt & Ché

This was mid-end July so definitely bring for all occasions, Uluṟu particularly was so cold - they had just had some non typical rain there though so could be to do with that but 100% being some thermals and down jackets for the mornings / evenings. Thanks guys! They have them on a Thursday and Sunday night 🤩 Unfortunately someone was! ☹️ Got bitten on the arm and back I believe but recovered well from what we heard! Scary stuff and poor guy but thankfully he was okay in the end! The croc would’ve been in there from the wet season so a number of weeks until anything happened 🥵 There’s some magic spots in the NT, we were totally pleasantly surprised by how awesome it was. Ohhhh we were unfortunately team Kakadont 🥲 BUT we went in school holidays haha! So I think that largely influenced our experience, still a magical part of the country 💛

      @@mattandche thanks for the info about the market….our last day before our flight home is in Darwin 🤗 that’s a shame at least the guy is going to be ok in time 🙌🏻 scary stuff watching people’s videos and they say can’t swim in there as there’s crocs and in some free camping spots crocs also…we have to be super aware and take notice of all signs! Lucky we’re not going in school holidays as we’re concerned of being turned away from a campsite…..no idea what we would do if we did so we’ve taken some time to try and plan as best we can.so your kakadont! all the programs we see here in the uk are mostly filmed in kakadu np ie crocodile Dundee and the wildlife documentary’s it looks mind blowing…..but we’re not going to kakadu np unfortunately…..we may have to factor in Lichfield np though it looks amazing to and hope everything is open 🤞🏻 We’re still planning and re-planning…I have to stop watching videos 😂 I watch one and another spot is added at this rate we’re in australia for about 5 years 😂 we only have 3 half weeks! @mattandche 2 месяца назад

      I know it’s crazy haha definitely alI unpatrolled waterways be croc aware 👍 Have you downloaded wikicamps? It’s a saving grace for finding camps! We had a few occasions where certain spots were too busy but there’s usually something close by, might not be glamorous but should always be able to find somewhere to sleep 😂🙌 Kakadu is definitely beautiful and we wish we did a yellow water billabong cruise but we’re circle back in the future 🤣 so much beauty in the NT though you’ll have a great time even with not heading there. And totally feel you on that 🤣 you can see why people keep continuously lapping Australia! One is not enough to see it all haha! Litchfield would be awesome if you have time and for robin falls like most places you should be fine in dry season but I’d say there’s always a chance they’d get in there during wet season!! Check the NT website for ‘safe’ swimming spots too nt.gov.au/emergency/community-safety/crocodile-safety-be-crocwise/where-you-can-swim ☺️☺️

    Climbed it 6 months ago, we started off in the dark before anyone was there and once we were at the summit we spent the day taking a lot of drone footage and photography. Descended in the dark, that would a bit tricky for anyone that wasn't a climber but we climb a lot.

      Thanks so much! We were there around late July and it was cold in the Red Centre but so beautiful, I’m sure you’d love it 😍 if you have any questions at all about feel free to reach out! We went from Darwin right down to Uluṟu and there’s so much more to see than you’d think in the ‘outback’ haha - hot springs, quirky pubs, great swimming holes! Such a great time, we also loved Alice Springs and if you’ve got the time while you’re there we’d recommend adding the West Macdonnell ranges and Kings Canyon to the list! Have a great time 🤩

      Hey guys! Thanks so much, glad it was helpful 😄 That’s so exciting when do you head off? We did the same route from Darwin down to the red centre and also did the Mereenie Loop to Kings Canyon after! I’m sure you’ve probably heard that the Mereenie Loop can be rough, it wasn’t too bad for us but can get rutted and very muddy if there’s been some recent rain. Have a great time down there, sounds like an awesome trip 🙌

      @@mattandche hi heading off from uk to Darwin july 25th to august 16th…..just waiting on the 4wd hire company. I’ve done some research on the mereenie loop so know a little about the road ie lower the tyre pressures drive to conditions and ask at kings canyon about the present state of the road. Did you go to any of the gorges along the loop ? Hopefully we’re be ok 😅 no sat nav and never driven in the outback before so it could be some adventure if not we’re perish out there somewhere 😂 Thanks we hope it’s a trip of a lifetime as we’ve spent so much already and we’re not even there yet 😂 flights are very expensive but we are going business class as we’re be roughing it after we pick the hire car up 😂 Enjoy your adventure it sounds amazing can’t wait to watch some more of your videos 🙌🏻 safe travels guys 🤗🇦🇺

      @mattandche 7 месяцев назад

      @@Neil-clare so exciting that’s the exact same time we were there! Yeah that’s it, you have to also get a pass for the Mereenie loop but from memory it was only $10! You can get it from the visitor centre, we got ours from one of the caravan parks in the West McDonnell ranges! Side note - Are you planning on doing any of the West Macs? It’s absolutely magic it you have some spare time. But that all sounds so great! There’s always other travellers happy to lend a helping hand too so I’m sure you guys will be all over it 🙌 Love the business class idea haha enjoy it!! And thank you ☺️
