Our Jersey Cow FINALLY calved | Things didn't go well...
This was a hard video to video and edit. It took me a bit to process it all. I had hoped to have it finished to post yesterday but I needed one extra day.
We want to share the good and the bad days here and this past week was hard on the homestead! But even with the hard, it is all worth it!

Three Simple Ways to Preserve a Bumper Crop of Veggies
Valuable pantry tips, thank you.
So helpful, thank you for you tips. Looking forward to more videos
And look at all the skills they are developing ❤
Love this so much❤
Sooooo true! I stock up on dried beans year round. Comfort food❤
Aww, they are ❤cute though!
Yes, absolutely support your local small farmers. Behind every dirty hand is a healthier produce. Support one another and praise God for those hard workers and the food they produce each and every day.
Where did you find your crock?
I live a few miles from 4 different grocery stores. Every Wednesday I make a round to pick up their sale circulars.. I go thru each one comparing prices and really low cost loss leaders. I usually wind up at one or two of the stores and just buy from the list I’ve made based on their sales. I usually buy multiples and it keeps a good variety on hand.
I have 2 scoby hotels and I literally throw 2 away every week so now I’m Leary a bit. I’m also excited because I have 2 Autistic grandchildren. Thank you.
How do you store lettuce
Is your bowl the 16 inch? Looking to buy one, thank you!
Very informative video , I have started making kefir a year ago , also persuaded my daughters to make it ! It is great to use making flat breads. , usually when I have some left and do not want to drink itv❤
Great video! Thank you for sharing 😊
You are so welcome! Thanks for watching!
Thank you for sharing even though it was difficult! So sorry!
Child labour. Spend some cash screwge
No problems only solutions. Build them a home.
We love for them to free range so they can have access to all our pastures and grass and bugs. Makes for some delicious eggs but not so great flower beds. 😅
Looks like you need to make them a dust bath bin
They have one!! Actually several. They just like the flower beds better. Lol!
@@H_isforHomesteadwhat little booty heads 😂😂😂😂
Great video. Loved the kids at the end all eating yummy soup😊
Thank you 🤗
Fire cider is excellent immune booster! I also add fermented garlic in raw local honey in my winter preps. Both got us through c*vid and flu for last 2 yrs.
Yes!!! Fermented honey garlic and elderberry syrup is still on my to do list!
I've been curious about kefir for awhile now, so this was perfect! What would the difference be, benefit wise, between kefir and something like kombucha or even homemade yogurt? Is kefir just another probiotic option or does it have greater benefits than other fermented drinks? Also, smoothies and popcorn are a Saturday night staple for our family!
Ok, so kefir will have much more gut health benefits than yogurt. As far as the difference between kefir and kombucha, I’m not actually sure. We do both but I know we limit kombucha to a small cup each day. Kefir we don’t limit at all.
@@H_isforHomestead thanks! That's helpful!
I started buying raw milk for my family a few years ago too. My daughter was getting such stomach aches. We had to avoid dairy. But with raw milk she does fine! Not going to lie kiefer sounds interesting and little scared to make it. But with all your info it’s sounding better than it did a few mins ago😂
Oh raw milk is life!!! It’s been so amazing for us too! And kefir is SO simple! You can totally do it! ❤️
Excellent information & insight! Thank you.
Thanks for stopping by and watching!
Thanks for the tips! One way I found helpful for building a stockpile on a budget is to buy extra of one thing that is a good deal each grocery trip. So if I find a good deal on a staple item I buy 3 instead of just one. Instantly I have a small stockpile of that item without spending too much at one time.
That's a great idea! ❤️
I’m a stay at home mom too and I do the same thing for lunch. I make my lunch and sit and watch something. It relaxes me and this is my time for me.
It’s so nice isn’t it?
Great job. I am a new subbie
Thanks for being here!
Exactly! And it can be small scale, doesn't have to be overwhelming. We had 2 acres, chickens, pigs, ducks, geese, dogs, cats, garden, canning.... All the things!! Life happened, husband's health took a massive it. Had to downsize, moved to 1/4 acre, growing in pots, have 6 hens and a rooster, still canning. It's smaller, but we are blessed! We are perfectly imperfect!
Absolutely! And good for you for doing what you can. That’s awesome!
@@H_isforHomestead thank you!! That means a lot! Everyone struggles, but everyone can do something! I just have to do it on a smaller scale now! ❤️ But still abundantly blessed!!
What's the machine on the bottom left
It’s my grain mill!
I like the backwards menu planning idea! Helpful
It’s been so so helpful for me!
I am new to your channel your spaghetti sauce looks wonderful and that is a great idea for using up extra Zucchini. I'm watching you making sauerkraut now and wondered if you have ever watching Whippoorwill Holler? She has several variations on making Sauerkraut the one I use is called Grandma's Sauerkraut you just chop your cabbage add the ingredients with water, waterbath it and let it set in the jars for a month and it's so awesome and so easy. I haven’t seen that! I’ll have to check it out. Thanks for sharing.
So so helpful sarah!! I’ve started small thanks to you!! ❤
So glad to hear this!!
Can barely hear you.
Weird. I especially checked that with my husbands phone and the sound was fine. I’m sorry about that!
Hi! My first time here and I enjoyed this video. I plan to watch all of them you have posted and adding you to my favorite youtube channels. I wanted to mention that your music is nice, but your voice is so low I can barely hear you without maxing out the volume. Would love it to be the other way around. Have a blessed day! 🙂
I’m sorry to hear that. I’ll try and see if I can adjust that. Thanks for being here as I learn! ❤️
"W sauce" is what I call it
Ha ha ha! I’m totally doing that!
Titus faces😂😂😂😂😂😂
I really enjoyed your video and am planning to try the onion jam first. I usually spend a fortune for a jar here in North Texas and it never occurred to me to make my own. Thanks so much for the inspiration!
Yay!! So glad. Hope you like it!
❤
❤❤
It is so interesting to see how others do their tomato sauces. I apparently do mine complete backwards. 😂I put my raw tomatoes, onions, herbs, etc in my blender and then cook it all down. My husband has a hard time digesting the larger pieces of the tomato skins and doesn't seem to have a problem if I blend them before cooking. I use zucchini/yellow squash too! Oh and I usually add butternut squash in because it really thickens the sauce a lot and I don't have to cook it down as long. Works like tomato paste but adds another layer of flavor.
That’s a great idea too! I’ll have to try butternut squash!
it’s ….. worster - sheer. hope that helps. love your content.
Aah. Thanks so much!
Your channel just popped up and I watched and subscribed 😁
Awesome! Thanks for being here!
What a great wife you are!!
Well, thanks! ❤️
Our big processing/canning/freezing months are June and July here on the Florida panhandle. August is a much lower month. I am still canning things, but not like in the earlier months.
Isn’t it so interesting the difference in seasons depending on your zone?
I use shredded summer squash the same way as I use shredded zucchini in bread and muffins. I shred it squeeze the liquid out then measure out what I need for a recipe & freeze it
Great tip!
I recognize those cats!
Ha ha. You know it!
I’m from Philly and your cheesesteak was fine.
Oh yay!
This is the first time I have watched your channel and I subscribed. I haven’t started canning yet because I’m scared and don’t have the equipment yet. You gave me some great idea and it doesn’t look as hard as I thought. Thank you.
I’m so glad to hear this! You can totally do it! Start small but just taking action is the best way to learn!
Adding a bit of sugar will cut the acidity as well.
Yes, definitely! I added some sucanat which is kind of like brown sugar! ❤️
