I have always said students must travel to some other country (other than Bermuda or Cancun ) in order to qualify to earn their diploma from high school. Americans have little idea what the rest of the world is like and hence it’s people. I have traveled to ten countries in my life. I made typical Americans mistakes, learned to appreciate we are all the same just speak different languages and wear different clothes and have other customs. But we all want prosperity, happiness and bear fruit and thrive in peace. Too much to ask??? I think not.

Love thy neighbor doesn’t mean just love the family next door, but everyone in the world. Christian Nationalists are about hate, not love, not Christ-like at all. Christ wasn’t an American. He wasn’t even a Christian. ❤

I wrote in President Joseph Biden for president on Nov 5th. Voters have absolutely no understanding, and care less about their democracy, be careless about my democracy in this election; it is an easy walk to the White House gate for tRump. Harris is Biden 2.0 and will 'change nothing', as she so proudly proclaimed on The View. tRump will carry all 7 of the swing states because 'democracy does not matter'. No one cares or is interested in history since the 5th grade or in high school. Why would it happen here? The 'trains run on time, and buses, too (paraphrasing El Duce Benito M.) Americans won't move out of their comfort zone; Americans build walls to keep others out. It is as if Americans keep themselves in 'as a little tepid pool drying inward' as democracy evaporates around them.

Describing current economic forms of the Democratic Party

This reminds me of most progressive discussions, and count me among the progressives. To find out what the “other side” wants and needs , invite them into your discussion and ask them! Keep it civil and listen to them. It doesn’t help to just talk among ourselves and not be able to get to an answer. Perhaps Rick should travel to the Midwest and gain some insight into their culture like he does traveling to other countries.

Safeway's Just for You has good sales with eggs occasionally at $2.99, cheese at $1.99, butter at $3.99 (Groc Outlet = $4.29). I've started watching RUclips videos on cheap retirement towns... At 73 yrs YOUNG, my heart is broken by the division trump has caused & the damage to be wrought over next 4 yrs. I'm disappointedly resigned to the fact that over 1/2 of the population of the US are ok with an authoritarian leader for them and us as well.

Reading can take you many places. My grandmother never traveled more than 25 miles from where she was born. She was crippled at age 4. But she did make it through normal school and taught for seven years before raising six children through the depression. She read all the time and widely.

I was fortunate to be an exchange student in 1978 and was assigned to Turkey. That opened my eyes to so much and formed much of how I see the world, people different from me, and how I vet the news from around the world. As an adult, I would pay an additional tax to help every single 16 year old to go and live somewhere else - doesn't have to be another country, though that would be my first option, but to live for at least 3 months with a family so different from their own. It's amazing how much one can learn from our difference and come out at the end realizing how much we have in common, and how we celebrate and embrace our own culture as well as other. You don't leave from those experiences feeling that your own culture is threatened.
