FMG 717-729 and 727-010 5km 240618 7434
Late on June 18, 2024 we captured a loaded FMG train arriving into the port behind SD70ACe unit 717 leading SD70ACe-P6 unit 729 with 240 loaded waggons of iron ore.
During the arrival, an empty train started to depart the port behind SD70ACe-P6 loco 727 leading an aging GE 9-44CW loco 010 with 240 waggons south bound for the mines.
Shot, handheld on phone camera at 1748 hours just after the sun had disappeared.

An empty Rio Tinto train runs south on the Tom Price line at the double bridges at the 85.4 km, just south of the Galah crossovers.     There used to be a limit of 5000 Tonnes and 1800 mteter train length. Does that still apply. Love your videos.

      1800 metres is still the length limit, but tonnage can be above that. SCT run the highest tonnage freighters ~6000 tonnes west bound, whilst the mineral sands when running it is ~9300 tonnes loaded west bound. Once those tonnages [above 6000, I think it is] are on the ARC network [WA] they are limited to 80 kph.

      They 'work' on 92 tonnes per waggon with consists of 106, 126 and 160 with DPU. So up to 14,720 for the 160 DPU consist.

      Yes, almost every container on Aussie rail is domestic. Very little 'land bridging' happens over here. Linfox, CEVA and a couple of other runs some 53' containers, usually for car transport.

      Crew van, mobile accommodation for the relay working across the Nullarbor, has sleeping berths and toilet, shower, 'lounge' and kitchen facilities for the drivers.

      Two single lines, the train is on the mainline, the line in the foreground is the Esperance line running out to the Binduli triangle.

      These waggons on the Pacific National services are coming from Cook, are reloaded with diesel in Esperance via Viva and then sent back to Cook. The Aurizon tanks as you have seen are Adelaide - Alice Springs traffic as you noted and should be Ampol.

      Yes mate, the Pacific National services will take fuel if required, but the Aurizon and SCT services have fuel tenders and inline fuelling. Currently the IP runs through Kalgoorlie in the dark, but that is due to change with the new timetable. I do not live in Kalgoorlie, but try to get there a couple of times a year. Party on!

      Road is still very much open, and runs through the 'contaminated area' and you drive through Joffre Creek travelling on it. Joffre Creek runs through the national park, through Wittenoom Gorge and into the Fortescue here.
