    • @LogicMasterSteve
      @LogicMasterSteve 7 месяцев назад

      In the first round the start numbers were allocated randomly (except well-known puzzlers were seated in the front rows). In the later rounds your times in the qualification/semifinal round decided your seating. Sometimes the fastest puzzlers had a table for themselves when others had to share, thus winning your group brought an advantage...

    That's a very good time Steve, well done. 👍 What you should have done was removed the shrink wrap before you started your time. You would have saved six seconds by doing that. DonnaLouise did say to remove shrink wrap before starting your timer. This was because all the shrink wrap and stickers had been removed at the Worlds last year. I found the pink slowed me down a bit and resorted to shape sorting which helped. Interesting to see how everyone chose to tackle the jigsaw.

      Yes, I realized the shrink wrap rules when I watched all the other videos... The dark pink section (that I call purple in the video) was very difficult for me, I did not see any gradient there - but other solvers mentioned one (either my eyes or my lighting were bad 😉).

    Interesting to hear your views on the competition. Good to know that you enjoyed the pairs puzzle of Student Days. As you said quite a busy image and perhaps a little difficult to know where to start. The one you had in the pairs final, my goodness me! Lovely to do at your leisure but having a time limit meant so many pairs struggled to finish it. Hopefully they won't have quite such a difficult one for 2024 pairs final! It's great to enter puzzle competitions but you have to take what comes even if it is an image you wouldn't choose to do yourself. Lots of practise coming up now for the 2024 in September. 🧩🧩 Look forward to your next video whenever that is.

      There were many very difficult puzzles this time (Individual quali A+F, all four Pairs puzzles,...) and I believe that is not really a problem at all - perhaps even desireble. "Boston 2189" is perfect to do leisurely (took me less than 4 hours solo) but it is also well suited for a competition. Only it should not have been scheduled very late at the end of the most intense competition day. Some of the best puzzlers had Team quali (2x1000 pieces) + Guiness world record (1x2000 pieces) + Individual final (1x500 pieces) + Pairs final (1x1000 pieces) in a single day - almost without any break.

    I noticed a fun fact after uploading the video: Remembering the Teams Qualification as such a huge confidence boost (because we finished both puzzles in time), and the Teams Final as not so fast puzzling (because I was so tired after 4 days) is highly subjective and actually wrong. The 46th spot in the Qualification exactly corresponds to the 93th spot in the Final - because there were teams from Quali A and B meeting in the final... We did equally well in the Final - and I realize that only 3.5 months later. 😂

    I've just been re-watching this video and wonder when you are going to produce Part 2 of your World Puzzle Championship experience. You did this one two months ago. Do I assume that you are finding it difficult to record and edit Part 2? Would love to see how you got on with the rest of the championship. 😃

      Thank you for patiently awaiting part 2! Funny that you ask exactly today - because I have finished editing part 2 yesterday and I will upload it today! I was recording the text part of "WJPC recap - Part 2" before Christmas and finally found some time for editing... It took many, many hours to add those videos, photos,... - and I am not even perfectly satisfied. But it will do - people should be used to low-to-middle-quality videos from me anyways. 🙂
