Danny’s Travels
Добавлен 22 фев 2014
This is my life. For 20+ years I’ve dropped off and picked up people from airports who were going to or just coming back from places all around the world. I learned from each and every one of them. Now it’s my time to travel and see what everyone’s been talking about! This is mostly for my benefit, and that of my family, but if it entertains you, then please like and subscribe and share. Thank you for watching!
I had to leave the Philippines!
This is my final video of my first trip to the Philippines. I’ll probably do one more as a total review of the whole trip. This is definitely an experience of a lifetime and I will never forget it! #travel #philippineislands #traveldestinations #philippinecities #philippinestravelguide #manila

We had our home for 60 years. Five generations of our family lived, loved, laughed, cried and some died there over those 60 years. When we finally sold it, even though I remained living in the area, it was 8 years before I got the strength to go back and see it again in person. I'm happy I did because it was great to see the new homeowners were keeping it looking as beautiful as ever and even had made some nice upgrades. I hope they have as much happiness in our old home as my family did.

These retirement videos and comments are so crazy. Move to SE Asia to stretch your dollars? Yeah, right. Good luck with that. Find a decent job, save and invest patiently, keep your mind clear of distracting “retire early” thoughts. Good luck and may you find inner peace.
@@Carnegiered52 Yeah,….no. I have made my decision, right or wrong. I am willing to live with the repercussions. I don’t want any job good or bad. I am free and intend to stay that way.
You’ll live a much quality life in the Philippines with only your social security. Seven kids vs saving for retirement and living in MA? No way. When living in the Philippines, accept your lifestyle will be like living in the 1800s. It will not be like the west. Waiting in the bank for an hour, waiting 45 minutes in line to pay for your groceries, going to a restaurant to order food and get a reply ‘out of stock’, spending a whole day in a government office, spending the whole day finding a part for your vehicle, traffic, heat, humidity, burning trash, howling roosters 24 hours a day, barking dogs foaming in the mouth, beggars, typhoons, floods, earthquakes, scams, corruption, pickpocket, crime, people cutting in line in front of you, accepting that pedistrians have no rights when crossing the streets, holes in the sidewslks thst will consume a large dog, etc. If you can accept these things without cursing or shaking you head, you’ll be fine.

if you don't have much in savings but you have at least $1000 in a monthly pension plan you can make it in Philippines but you'll have to be discipline in your spending and live outside the major cities..just get a place with cheap rent and that'll be a gr8 starting point for sure, good luck
@@danramsay5844 Good advice! And that’s exactly my plan for sure!
Right after the financial crisis of 08' when FHA, Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac started selling houses in bulk on the cheap to Hedge Funds and Private Equity Firms (they were suposed to only sell ONE house per family), I knew it was game over. People that should've gone to jail were bailed out, given bonuses and the middle class and poor paid for it. Not that long ago, one could survive on SSA or a Pension alone, but now, rents have been jacked up to the stratosphere and home prices are so insanely high, it's almost comical, if not tragic. Add runaway inflation and you've got a financial draining disaster. The level of greed in (Cough!) leadership of high finance and big monied entities is beyond the pale. They won't stop until they take it all.
Amen brother.. see you in the Philippines. 👍

We see things like these in some parts of the world, and US is a part of it. We see like zombies along the streets of San Francisco bay, homeless with garbage around their tents. Mostly are dependents on drugs and can't seem to be hopeful because their brain is rotten with drugs. Food banks are feeding them but since they are used to it, they forgot the value of appreciation.

Dude, Social Security is not meant to be your retirement egg. It’s a supplement and not for nothing. You’re gonna be taking out way more from Social Security than what you paid in way more so get a grip with reality.
@@KristinNaso thank you for watching my video. And also, thank you for your kind words. I promise I’m gonna try really hard to get a grip. There’s much more in my story. Unfortunately, for me, I didn’t plan very well. So my Social Security is gonna have to carry me all the way to the end.

@@dannystravelvlogDid you retire by choice? Did you sit down and review you income in retirement because inflation is going to happen and soc sec will not cover all your bills unless you cohabitate and live extremely frugally. Maybe the Philippines will be your answer but you will be far from family if you can accept that.
@@JoeL-m1g Yes, my choice. I didn’t plan to fail, I failed to plan. But I always land on my feet. I will be just fine in the Philippines.

Sounds like you are being too hard on yourself. Follow your heart and accept defeats sometimes. No one wins all the time. That’s the reason why when my husband pass away i decided to come back and living here in the philippines , my home country. Hi Danny, I just came across your channel. I'm 65 and took early retirement four months ago. I am presently living in HCMC Vietnam. My 401k got decimated due to poor decisions that I made. No one to blame but myself. Presently, I really just have my monthly social security check to live on. I've always wanted to live somewhere in SE Asia and living in Vietnam on just my social security allows me to have live a decent lifestyle and put away a little for some savings. I would definitely have to work part-time somewhere for the rest of my life just to make ends meet if I stayed in the U.S. I'm quite happy living here, but I know the Philippines is also another great option.
@@dgriffin6650 nice to meet you here my friend! Hopefully I can buy you a coffee one day. I will definitely visit Vietnam also someday
65 is early retirement?
@@Carnegiered52For me my full retirement age is 66 and 10 months, as I was born in 1959. I could have waited until I was 70 to get the maximum social security amount. The younger people living in the USA may not even have Social Security when they get old or maybe the full retirement age will be 70. It’s a sad reality.
nice views. I hope to get to cebu someday. Maybe in 2026. Next April my love and I have to go to Singapore for a few days (tourist visa run) and our vacation money for 2025 will get eaten up on that. you really need to just say goodbye to the east coast and move here.
@@lcmichaels7215 I’m very close to that happening. But I have a car payment and some credit card debt that I need to pay off first.
As a Filipino, I dont get sad. I work hard to earn money, and grab every opportunity I get to help my fellowmen. Do I get affected by poverty? Absolutely! But I use it as a fuel to help. The Philippines is a perfect place for the generous hearts, not necessarily for the empaths who just look at people with pity , but does nothing.
@@se_amable001 I will try to be a good man who does much to help others. Thank you for your words!

Philippines is not good health care, I'm Pinay love PI but i'm thiinking if I retire in PI I'm not gonna have long life there...
I hope the Philippines works out for you. Yes it would be nice if social security could replace our pre retirement income but to do so it would be incredibly expensive taxation wise. In simple terms if the typical person works for 40 years and is retired for 20 would require the social security tax rate to be about 33% of income. Currently I think its about 6% plus another 6% from your employer so there is a big shortfall here and this is why social security will be roughly a third of your pre retirement income. Yes you have to plan around this.
Good information. Thanks
I disagree 12% into the S&P 500 from the age of 20 you could retire with close to a million dollars or more.
@@billyjohnson9166In principle that is true but social security is not invested in nor funded by the stock market. It is funded by taxing the current workforce to pay current retirees. Basically it is old folks UBI. I don’t see this method changing anytime soon if ever. Obviously how to fund and or invest social security taxes is a political discussion that needs to happen but I am just reflecting on the current situation and its limitations.
