Dana T. Gallup Remembered
Dana T. Gallup Remembered
After a valiant two-year fight with ALS, Dana Gallup died on May 12, 2024. He was 78. A graduate of Bowdoin College, he was a member of the Class of 1968. Our time at Bowdoin in the late 1960’s and our experiences in the years that followed eventually brought many of us closer as we got older.
Dana was a vital part of all that. His classmates, friends and neighbors provided these photos to remember him. All of us miss him. He was a good friend, fun to be with, and most importantly, a good man.

Triple screw brand new EMDs that had to be a time to be alive
I can't watch this shit. I'm not a she so this just makes me feel like a stupid piece of shit.
My anorexia is more to indifference. Most foods I'd rather not eat
Drugs and DL men were on the high back then. Drug dealers are a menace to society and men in the closet need to live in the open.
RIP DTG ❤
So sad to hear him say . I'm not ashamed of being identified as what i am . I am a person with aids . But i know that you are in heaven now. But you are not your illness.. You are so much more . A person who laughs and cries .. Feels love and hurt... We are all growing , we are all learning.. You guys , from back then, would be so proud and happy to see how far the medical world has come in the last years ... ♥️
Best towboat video on the internet. Still watching it in 2024
This is bad 😂
Anyone having flashbacks of educational videos in school. X_x i remember doing a report on bulimia in like '95 when i was 9ish then being told my classmate doing her report on anorexia would be taking it over because they were "essentially the same thing". I guess all those lifetime movies and true Hollywood stories on E! Really worked to move forward the understanding of these diseases... 😅
@zeesky0086 •It’s pretty hard to hide long term I tried my very best but being honest with family and friends actually helped my Mum was terrified of the illness killing me I had so many admissions I lost flipping count and two where a year long they where hell -But the illness is worse than hell they give you medicine to make you hungry your already flipping hungry and a diet plan-Oh god and the Daily weigh in where your woken up crack of dawn like 5 am watched going to the loo ?Then your weight is shouted out the entire bloody ward hear it made me worse much as I wanted to get better I was force fed (5 members of staff that unit is now closed I did the A to Z of every single Unit the medication was actually not helping me nether did ECT made me have Epilepsy I can never explain how depressing and how you just want to quit life completely takes somewhere really good to make you see that your worth far more than a diagnosis. That things maybe tough but your not a statistic or just a # anything I refuse to be I had to get cross with the world the cards it had dealt me where quite crap they still are not great but they are way better than some other people (Men get this really badly they appear in the UK to wait there is a BMI to qualify for actual care as an inpatient or outpatient-Which is very stupid because then you need wait for them to find a bed they never could 😬😬Was crazy situation made me worse often by the time I got to that stage I was having heart problems because the muscles had been really eaten as my cousin said (Muscles weigh more than fat I never ever looked at anyone else and would see them as overweight etc only myself ..)
It's way older than 300 years. What does society value? What makes a woman 'good'? Today, it's being thin. Makes you 'clean'. 300 years ago, it was breeding. This girl is so well bred that she has lost all her connection to the carnal, base needs of her body. It's the impurity in the steal that makes it strong. Someone in this family needs to sleep with a bar maid - and quick! In the Middle Ages, it was God. She is so fed by the spirit of God that she does not need to eat. And so on.
😢😢😢😢😢😢
Me and Lee Andrew Jenkins we was raised up together in Birmingham Alabama. He departed this life on October 4th 1999. Lee Andrew Jenkins was doing great things in Atlanta. RIP my Brother.
Real Americans doing essential work! Notice they talk and spend time with one another rather than having their heads buried in their phones! What a horrible thing when cell phones came on the scene. Another avenue for Satan to attack!
What ever happened to Lee Jenkins and Sterling White in Atlanta Georgia, and the Georgia Department of Human Resources (DHR) Street Team for AIDS Risk???
I wish you showed how hot the engine room is. Great video
I’m sure they were hotter back then. Now days most enginerooms have some good ventilation and can keep the temperature within 25 to 30 degs of the outside temperature. Which can still be pretty warm if it’s hot outside. Out on tow is where the real heat can be stifling. On a warm summer day it’s not uncommon to see temperatures in the upper 140s and I have seen 160s. If there’s no wind stirring it’s down right miserable.
Where is aids is real 5? This hurts me so badly that I cannot continue this amazing story.
Nobody morbidly obese back then!

Good video 👍
I thank whomever found this video and published it. It is a part of a larger production and I would love to see it again as well. Lee and Sterling were a part of a team called S.T.A.R.R. (Street Team for AIDS Risk Reduction). The video was self produced and funded by various groups. Thanks again!
Any updates to what ever happened to them???

Fantastic work, which I came across by accident when looking for how to colour-finish fired clay sculpture figures. I am just learning to make sculptures but have little idea how to finish, ie colour them. Please could you list your materials because as a beginner I am unfamiliar with the products best suited for fired clay. Also, I guess some products may not be recognised here in UK, so advice on this would be welcome too. Thanking you in advance.
The way those guys are wearing there life preservers is a waste of time
I love anri, especially the miniature ones ❤
The attention to detail and scale is amazing.
This is a valuable time capsule of 1980s scholarly/medical research and thought on the subject of eating disorders.
Mrs Richards: "I paid for a room with a view !" Basil: (pointing to the lovely view) "That is Torquay, Madam ." Mrs Richards: "It's not good enough!" Basil: "May I ask what you were expecting to see out of a Torquay hotel bedroom window ? Sydney Opera House, perhaps? the Hanging Gardens of Babylon? Herds of wildebeest sweeping majestically past?..." Mrs Richards: "Don't be silly! I expect to be able to see the sea!" Basil: "You can see the sea, it's over there between the land and the sky." Mrs Richards: "I'm not satisfied. But I shall stay. But I expect a reduction." Basil: "Why?! Because Krakatoa's not erupting at the moment ?"
Nothing slicker than leather sole cowboy boots on wet or icy steel. Love this film. Brings back a lot of good memories from 1977. I worked for Hunter Barge Transport on the JW Hunter in those days out of Nashville. The river is a good home.
I rode the old J W Hunter for a while. Had good times on there but didn’t shed a tear when we put it in tow to be shipped out and sold. That boat had become one headache after another.
The tapes with the music as we recorded it are long gone. The only place the music exists now is on the soundtrack. I never thought back then the film would still be watched 45 years later.
Thank you for uploading this. My dad was in this. He use to have the actual film when I was a kid. This brings back memories. He was a deck hand here. He went on to become Chief Engineer on the Sally. He loved that boat. I went to work for Mid-South Towing when I was 25. I worked for them for 9 years.
RIP Bobby Lawrence 1-11-1935 ..1-10-2023 . He was a pilot at the time of this video but later became Captain. Only health issues could get him away from the river that he so loved. I’m his son in law
I worked with Coy at Mid-South Towing. My dad is in this as a deck hand. He later became Chief Engineer on the Sally Archer. He was Wes McCullough.
I used to freelance out of the NMU hall in Joliet in the '70s. Great memories, pay, and food :)
I wish I had seen this an yr before, I would have picked up some ANRI figurines from an estate sale I went to. The house belonged to a retailer of ANRI figures. 4"-6" figures were being sold at $15 each. Was hard to tell that they were curved from wood, they were so well done. It was the first time I had laid eyes on such craftsmanship. I was there to pick up a Minnie and Mickey mouse 14" articulating figures and thats all I got there. The translucent paint lets you see the wood grain, its so beautiful. I am proud to say I have 2 ANRI figures at least.
That’s the size of my set. I’ve been looking for the Maji’s decorated elephant, the only figure I don’t have. The shop in NYC where it was purchased moved about 3 hrs upstate several years ago.
@@The_Crucible714 i hope you find it, on ebay you can type in the name, save that search and when something that matches what you searched for, it notifies you. sometimes that will be the fastest way to get what you have been searching for.
God how old is this video? It's genetic and once triggered does not go away. It's from severe anxiety and low self esteem. It's horrible actually and therapy can help. I got into fitness and nutrition but it's still always there.
1984
it says 1985 so yall both didn't watch properly ;) my cousin has the same ED that i do but noone knows i have it and we arn't close so i can't support them..
I’ve heard the rule of thirds…that about 1/3 who do a good program recover well, 1/3 will be ‘okay’ but still have some struggles, and about 1/3 become chronic for life. I’d say I’m in the relatively well category though not at the top. It is somewhat genetic, and also very much linked with trauma in my case-perfect storm of things. I’ve been in recovery after my last intensive treatment for almost 5 years, but I spent 20 years pretty much nearly always ‘on’ in the disorder, whole rigamarole of things including the hospital, NG tube, low potassium, anemia, low blood sugar, S-D-L behaviour…we still lack the best treatment centres and programs in most of the world. I had to go out of my Canadian province because the only intensive program here SUCKS and gave me so much trauma…I was lucky to get funding to go to a centre out of province shortly before C-D and before my province stopped funding out of province treatment. I have some friends who were as sick or even sicker than me that are also doing very well now, and a couple that aren’t. No one right answer and treatment needs to be looked at much more individually than it often is…
It's not always genetic. Trauma especially sexual trauma has been found to be a trigger in many cases.
@@RahabdYah•Thanks for your honest I have it because of that mine is full remission but if I was to count the amount of people with Anorexia in every unit I have been to or Bulimia or Binge Purge Anorexia?Anorexia NOS ?I am so confused but I am not wanting to be a victim or a statistic.I became a perfectionist I got to the point where nothing I did was ever going to be good enough (Trying to keep up with my brothers )Keeping my Trauma hidden and I was fairly good but the more in patient trea😢tment I had the more habits I collected and the more adamant I was that stubborn that I was still fat that no one could make me eat one point the therapist was so dreadful she made me think I was contaminated internally by the abuse I never come across someone so horrible or vindictive she was worse than the abuse as a Psychiatrist she was horrendous saying she did not believe me did I spit or swallow I threw up on here there and then she told me I was stupid. She would not let relatives visit no ones she was worse than anyone abusive
It's even more common now. Many keep it secret but it's not going away.
