You Won't Believe How EASY Homemade Tortillas Are

My goal this year is to make more food from scratch for my family of six. No more buying these anymore from the store! From Scratch Homemade Tortillas are so easy to make. They require a few ingredients and just a little amount of time, and in my opinion, they taste much better than the store bought ones. #homemaking #fromscratch #homemadefood #tortilla #tortillarecipe Ingredients: 2 1/2 C all ...

La receta!
I have the recipe in the description 😊
Hello. Can u use yeast instead of baking soda?
Hi! I have never tried it with yeast instead of baking soda. If you try to without baking soda I’d love to hear how it works out.
Tried this today an none turned out every one stuck to the parishment paper... I had to throw 4 batches out.. how do you get it to not stick? I got the paper wet and ringed it out on 1 batch too and it didnt help at all.. 🥺
Hello😊 So frustrating. I’ve had this problem before when I had my layers too thin. It was like the puree just melted into the parchment paper. Try making the layers a little thicker. Another thing to try is turning the temp down on the dehydrator just a little. Sometimes the temps on dehydrators can slightly vary from brand to brand. They might have to go for a bit longer though.
Aren't they just the best!
So delicious tortillas recipe, thank you dear friend for a great sharing❤👍🙏
Thank you so much!
Saved. Thank you!
You're welcome!
👍😋😋😋😋
Excellent video. For the first time, and after several attempts, I feel like I can do this. A couple of questions, are you making these right before you are going to need/eat them, or do they stay soft in the tea towel? Are you making one , putting in the pan, putting it in the tea towel and then rolling out another. The reason I am asking is I have tried to make tortillas before and tried to make them right before we eat, doesn’t work out that well for a rookie. You seemed so relaxed just cooked one then made another, I just get all stressed out trying to roll another one while the other is cooking, doesn’t work. One more question, I promise, they should be rolled out really thin almost see through is that correct? I loved your calm easy going approach, gives me hope!👍🙏❤️🇨🇦
Thank you! You can make them right before you eat them or you can make a batch, refrigerate them, and then warm them right before you eat them. They will get a little stiff in the refrigerator, but warming them up softens them right back up. You want to roll them pretty thin too if you are looking for ones like you would buy in the store for burritos. You can always roll them smaller and thicker but they will be more bready. Thank you for saying I made it look easy! I have had a lot of practice rolling them! So, if you’re just starting out, you can always make them one at a time before you roll out the next one. The tea towel should keep them warm until dinner if you’re making a small batch. If you try again, I’d love to hear how they turn out ❤️
You’ve lost me with the sourdough starter how do you make a sourdough starter?
Hello! There are several good recipes online to choose from. I started mine about 5 years ago using this recipe from King Arthur Baking www.kingarthurbaking.com/recipes/sourdough-starter-recipe There are also some people who I know sell dehydrated versions of their starters and you can purchase those to rehydrate them and bake with. I love baking a lot of sourdough breads and other recipes using the sourdough starter.
I don't understand why you added starter for something that you didn't ferment....???? Please, enlighten me.
Hi! So this particular recipe I used was from the discard of my sourdough starter. I don’t like throwing the discard out so I save it in a jar in the refrigerator and use it in recipes such as this one. You can absolutely make a long fermented loaf for around 12-24 hrs. I’ve done that before and it was delicious!
@@rootinginlovehello. I would really be interested what steps you do to fully ferment the dough before baking. If you are free for an advise I would really appreachiate it 😊
We been doing it with adding, nuts , chocolate, peanut butter, that's one too die for. It's endless.
Sounds delicious! I love chocolate❤️ and I never thought about adding peanut butter. Thanks for sharing! I’m thinking about making a blueberry pecan one soon.
interesting,..I will try this :D
I like this.
Awesome, love it, love your song too, those are my jams in the 70s, sweet memories Beautiful everything you do sweet girl 🫶🙏✌️ love that ole maid/zinnia😅
My dad taught me how to do a dance called the “jitter big” to KC and the Sunshine Band. Good memories ❤️
@@rootinginlove yes ma'am they sure are, never done the jitter bug, it was before my time, but I love dancing and danced a lot to KC in the 70s at the skating rink or where ever, I still love to dance, my front porch is my dance floor now, I have my sound bar out there and listen to my music and dance sometimes, by myself now, unless our UPS man stops, and I dance with him😱😁
Looks soon delicious!!!
I'm telling you, you make things look so easy and so good, have blessed, beautiful and safe new week with your beautiful family 🫶🤱✌️
Thank you! You too!
Just watched again, look at those beautiful zinnias 🫶 PS love the song you used🌻🌻🌻🤱
Awe absolutely beautiful my sweet friend, everything looks just wonderful, love those marigolds, my mom's favorite were sunflowers and marigolds,i find happiness in gardening,i feel closer to my mom when I'm in my flower beds, and it's my stress reliever, as well as my music Have a blessed, beautiful and safe new week dear along with your sweet family,🤱🫶✌️🌷🌻🌷🌻
Thank you! We have been so busy lately that I haven’t had time to do a full garden update video. Hope you are doing well! ❤️
@@rootinginlove I'm good, really busy too these days, I'm gonna do an update after our lawn man comes to mow, everything looks good in your garden, great job ✌️
That's a great idea! Thanks!
Glad you like it!❤️
Time for stirfry!
Right? I’m going to freeze some for soups and I think I’m going to try and ferment some.
Leave the roots in the ground when you harvest your vegetables. Not only does it prevent soil erosion but when they degrade they give minerals and organic matter back to the soil. It also helps to prevent your soil from getting compacted and earthworms will thank you as well as they will feed on those roots!
I did not know that! Thank you for letting me know. I’ll have to do that on the next batch of veggies I harvest. Should I do that in both in ground and raised beds?
@@rootinginlove Whenever possible, yes! One of my friends is a master gardener and they have a lot of raised garden beds. They leave all the roots in the soil unless some disease got to the plant. If you keep pulling out the roots, you also take away some of the soil and you'll constantly have to add to your raised bed.
Awesome! Thanks for sharing with me❤
@@rootinginlove You are most welcome! Happy and successful gardening! I don't know if you have any problems with squash vine borers, but if you do, that's one of the cases when you pull the complete plant and burn it! Don't throw it on your compost because the larvae that are in the stems will hatch and the bug can overwinter in the roots or close to them. It's seems that with gardening we NEVER stop learning 🥰
All your veggies look so good every year🫶🤱
This is something I've always wanted to try but it's always sounded so weird but, I still really wanna try it cause I love pickled things!
They are so good! You should try it out! If you’ve ever had eggs in/on your potato salad, it’s pretty much like that!
Love all your sweet videos, have a blessed and beautiful week dear🤱🌷
Thank you! You too! 🤗
Nice radish! I better it was super sweet!
It was pretty sweet until closer to the greens and then it had a bit of a spice. It seems like home grown radishes are always spicy.
Gardens and flowers and working in the yard, is my stress reliever, really to me, i don't look at it as work, cause I so enjoy it, and I feel closer to my mom when I'm in my flower beds, 🌺🌷🩷🩵 Really sweet video, thanks for sharing, bless you and your sweet family always 🤱
Got 4 kiddie pools this year, 2 Pink and 2 blue, there all planted but 1, finishing that one today, hopefully 🤱 Got 1 just zinnias, different varieties, got 1 Mexican sunflowers, got 1 all different wild flowers, and the one I'm doing today is gonna be cosmos, and maybe something else with them, I'm also planting my marigolds today from seeds The 3 pools that are already planted, are already coming up nicely, Think I will check out the bags you have there', I mean I have everything planted all the way thru fall, I've got to have more to do for rest of spring and summer 🥰 have a good evening dear and say hello to your kiddos for me🌺🌷 🌺🌷🩵💜🩷🤍🧡
I was wonder how cosmos and giant zinnias would do in them. I started some from seed but wasn’t sure the pools would be deep enough for them? But it sounds like they are! So I might do a flower pool bed this year too! ❤️so far the potatoes are doing really well in the bags. Hoping to do a video on them soon. We have just been so busy with homeschooling 4 kiddos 🤪❤️ Hope your doing well sweet friend! 🤗
@@rootinginlove ok the cosmos done great last year in them and the zinnias done ok, but I'm thinking I didn't plant to many zinnia' seeds last year, but I do have lots of seeds, they were beautiful, just not as plentiful as before, and it was the tall and dwarf ones, my favorite is the cactus like flower zinnia's now, I had never seen them till last year, but I took pic and done a search and that's how I learned about them Also when I planted wildflowers from packs of seeds, that's how I learned about Mexican sunflowers, they are awesome and don't mind drought or heat and last year was what our summer was and they thrived and really no maintenance at all, they bloomed till first frost, I've never seen the seeds anywhere accept on line and the ones I harvest last year, the Mexican sunflowers were about 15 ft tall, the stalks were as big as a cane pole like you fish with, and they were that tall in those pools, I don't know how to send pics on RUclips yet, I'll try later to show you 🤱🩷🩵🌺🌷🌺
Amen, beautiful video, Have a blessed and beautiful weekend dear 🤱💙🤍🙏
Great edit!
Hey there sweet girl, have a blessed new week And you are so right, we all need to slow down and enjoy life like it use to be, The man in the drive thru at McDonald's this morning was so nice and very kind, and I was like wow, and then I thought, were all suppose to be like this, it's a very sad world when someone stands out, cause they are kind 🙏✌️
So true! I hope you have a wonderful week! 🤗
It's amazing how your bread turns out so nice.
My first time starting my flower seeds in side, can't wait to see how they do Bless you and your beautiful family always dear🙏
Looks oddly familiar 😂
So I found kiddie pools, gonna pack up at least 3 more for my flowers, and I think I want to grow some tomatoes and some other veggies in containers, do you plant your tomatoes from plants or seeds, which is the best way to you We're gonna have 60 mile an hour straight line winds and bad storms tomorrow and I have to be out driving in it I'm praying for everyone who are in the path of these storms, I pray God will calm the winds and keep everyone safe Have a blessed and awesome weekend dear with your beautiful family 🙏
I’m so glad you found some! I usually just by the tomato plants from Ace. Last year I tried cherry tomatoes from seed for the first time and they did well! I’m trying all tomato seeds this year but so far none of them have come up🤷🏼♀️ if they don’t here in the next week or so I’ll just go buy plants. Stay safe out there in the wind! Ours has been really nasty and it is awful windy here again today! Have a good & safe weekend ❤️
@@rootinginlove thanks Dear, they just came on our local weather and said they have closed all schools in our area for tomorrow and the ones also in Chattanooga Tennessee where my stepmom is, I may have to cancel my drs appointment and may not be able to make it to siskins to be with my stepmom tomorrow 😔 So on what you said about you usually good to Ace and buy the plants, I think that's what I'll do, ACE is one of my favorite places, I've got to pick up some more bird seed, wasp spray and fire ant killer and I can never got in there without buying some more flower seeds Good night dear🙏💤😴
I forgot about radishes!!
There’s still time!❤️
Thanks so much ❤
You're welcome 😊
Love how your family are involved🙏
Gross!
Would you mind elaborating? Which of the ingredients do you find gross? Is it one in particular or the combination? Love getting insights from others.
