Jurassic Park: The Game - Steam Deck playthrough
Просмотров 1068 месяцев назад
A quick look at Jurassic Park: The Game and how it runs on Steam Deck. I was astonished to see it run without any tinkering at all! And it performs flawlessly. A true gem for all die-hard JP fans! Steps I made to get it up and running on Steam Deck: 1. Get a PC copy of the game. If you do not own any physical or digital copy, you can easily download the game for an abandonware site. 2. Install ...
doesn't work(
The problem is that the Launcher and SteamOS are being constantly updated and guides like this outdate super fast.
what if we dont have the restarter.exe ? i mean for me its litteraly not here
Hi, Thank you for the video. Could you make an updated version with the latest launcher? I can start the launcher the first time, but every time after it says it is already installed and i should use the shortcut from desktop. If i use the shortcut from within the prefix it is the same.
same problem (
I'm trying to make it work but after the firsts steps in bottle (installing the exe) I click run to install the games but nothing happens, is there a way to fix this?
if you mean the launcher doesnt appear in ur downloads folder go to browser settings and then downloads and manual choose downloads a downloading location
2:26 5 minutes or hours or day lol 5 what?
I needed to add webview2 as a dependency
Thanks for sharing your solution!
Had to redo this for another steam deck and the new All In One launcher download doesn't seem to start in Bottles at all. Or through steam with proton compatibility. I click play (on either) and it tries to load for a few seconds and then just shuts down
I had the same problem even when I downloaded them on my pc and tried to transfer them. If you find away of getting them to work I would be very grateful
Its same here :((
I cant get this to work because the launcher doesnt work through the bottle
as far as I can see, the launcher got bugged in the last update. I’m running my BFME games without using the launcher, thankfully, just using direct shortcuts.
@@GondorianGaming93 it still doesn't open the bottle won do anything just tries to open then nothing comes up
For those who are stuck in the 6:32, on the newer version of the installer you need to go to "Dependencies" and install "WebView2"
6:32 mine will not continue when I press that button
You need to make sure the path reaches the right .exe file
@@GondorianGaming93 I have downloaded the latest version and tall bottles to use that file
Im in the same boat here i think... up until 6:32 everything seems to work. But running it at this point just starts the program, but then it just stops.... it is pointing to the .exe file from the download url provided. I haven't looked heavily into it yet, but I did take the latest of everything as well.
@@codytheien16 sounds like the exact same problem I am in
I have a similar problem on this step. It might be related to the changes made on moddb page - the file I downloaded has a different name of .exe file, and the folder of installation has a different name, and overall there are several small changes in the installation process. Maybe running the earlier version of an installer could work - however, I have no way of finding those anywhere :(
When you say "Set TARGET to flatpak".... what do you mean exactly? Should the target be the bfme1.exe? Or should it be something else? I'm very new to this and don't quite know what you mean by "Set TARGET to flatpak"
I mean, let's say you've added a bfme1.exe to your steam library. To run it properly using bottles, right-click it, choose Properties. Then choose Shortcut and in "TARGET" field write: flatpak
In adding the launch option to steam, what is flatpak exactly?
It's a a sandbox environment unique for linux based systems in which users can run application software in isolation from the rest of the system
I missed the launch options! Thanks again for this! Will have to try this and see how it works. I'm also wondering if that lagging you experience in BFME1 was due to the patch version used. 🤔
Launch options are a MUST in this case. Although I'm still struggling with booting BFME 1 this way. It used to work before but now after a few updates of the launcher and SteamOS itself it ceased working. However, both BFME 2 and RotWK work perfectly this way. Hard to tell what's causing the issue. I suspect it's either the drivers (DirectX?) or resolution. There's plenty of settings to tinker with inside the bottle itself. If you scroll down inside them, you'll find a lot to customize. If I remember correctly, I additionally downloaded d3dx11 dependency there (go to Options -> Dependencies in your bottle).
Are you playing with mouse?
@@bubberduck4964 Yes, I have a mouse connected via bluetooth.
I can't get this to work at all because the launcher doesn't work at all
Hi, many thanks for the clear instructions. Just one question, at the step when I've added the Restartet to steam and launch it, it says I need to install the game again, even if i did this initially in bottles. Do you know why this happens?
Hi there! Could you provide me with a screenshot of the issue? In my case the launcher wants to update constantly and restart the game. Perhaps the launcher expects the game to be installed elsewhere and doesn’t recognize the one you already installed. Either way, you can play the game you already installed. Launcher is mainly for installing the games.
@@GondorianGaming93 I guess it is because bottles installes by default as a flatpak, which means it is a closed sandbox and has no access to steam. Did you run any special permissions to add shortcuts to Steam? However, it also works if I launch it from the bottles GUI 🙂. I changed the resolution to 1280 800 in the Options.ini and it fits the steam deck screen now. Only the ground textures are strange and fuzzy. Did you have the same issue?
@@oOseVVaN I didn't need to add any special permissions. Yeah, the textures are blurry, but I guess it's no bug. The game has its years already.
@@GondorianGaming93 I have the same issue. It just reruns the installer over and over. which program in the download runs the game. I have tried adding the other .exe files the same why and none of them run the game.
@@Coombstuff The easiest way is to add exe files as shortcuts to Steam library. Works flawlessly for all three games on my deck. No need to run the launcher at all, unless you want to keep up with patches.
Did you get this to work in Game Mode by any chance? I can only get it to work in Desktop Mode. Which is a shame. Thanks for the great video!
Hi there! Thank you! Yes, it is possible to run these in gaming mode, although there's some stuttering while handheld. On the other hand, if the deck is docked and connected to an external monitor, BFME runs like a dream. Here's a preview of the gaming mode performance while handheld: ruclips.net/video/E4zwBWn1Wa4/видео.html
@@GondorianGaming93 Thanks for this. I played a complete skirmish using just Steam Deck controls with zero issues on the Steam Deck only by launching bottles and then restarter, then chose the game BFME1, then the patch 1.06 and launching game. If I try to launch through Steam in either game or desktop modes it fails to load. No matter what proton version I use either. Not sure why. Not a great pain to have to use Desktop and launch through bottles but would love to be able to launch straight through game mode instead.
@@DullaghanCormac Hey bud, sorry for jumping in 2 months later. I got it to work in gaming mode by adding bottles itself to my Steam Library, setting the control mode to keyboard and mouse, then launching in gaming mode.
Thank you for this. I have all 3 discs but was struggling to install and get it working on the Steam Deck via ISOs. This worked! On the OLED it seemed to install much quicker and bottles took less than 60 seconds to create. I would add that you can update the Options.ini file after to change the resolution to 1280 800 for the Steam Deck. Happy out! 🎉
You're right, the resolution change is recommended. I guess I had to wait longer because I was using WiFi at that time.
