    These doorbells are garbage. They often fail in 16 months or so. The delay for notifications is terrible. Often the weird"Oops" message that you showed. You can take the chip out and just have it connect to your NVR where the video will be saved. That said, I would stay away for these Lorex cameras. Support is awful. Search RUclips universe and you see guys posting about failed AC power supplies. One guy said there is a battery inside that swells causing all kinds of power problems.

    Minor problem, the only wired up fuse is constant, so moved it up to and it was a 5amp fuse working on ignition, unfortunately I was not able to place the fuse due to the wire above it, anyway being DC current couldn't turn it upside down, thought of searching internet to see if they do a revers wiring, in the end moved the rubber sheath and cracked the plastic support and placed the rubber sheaf back and the jobs a good-un still a little tight fitting but unlikely to rub or short out.

  • @stevebooth5926
    @stevebooth5926 3 месяца назад

    It is ESSENTIAL to put the fuse tap in the correct way round so that the 12V hot side goes to the outside top/new power cable. Put it in the wrong way round and you will have a potentially dangerous setup with incorrect fusing.

    • @sanjdesigns
      @sanjdesigns 3 месяца назад

      Totally agree and did mention this in the video that the original fuse goes at the top. Easy to get wrong so important to take your time 👍

    • @thisjustisntright
      @thisjustisntright 3 месяца назад

      @@sanjdesigns You misunderstood my comment. I was not referring to which slot in the fuse tap to place the new and original fuses. I was referring to the orientation that the whole fuse tap is inserted into the fuse box socket. It has to be the correct way round. Insert the fuse tap the wrong way round and the camera will get its power through BOTH fuses i.e. the camera wiring would be significantly less protected. The other consequence (not safety related) is that if the original fuse were to blow, the camera would also stop working. If you don't have a volt meter to identify the hot (12V) side of socket in the fuse box, then insert the fuse tap with the original fuse removed - if the camera still works then fuse tap is oriented the correct way.

    There are too many good options to Ring without subscription. Ring just raised it to $5/month, $50 annual. I installed the Lorex 2K Battery for my niece and they love it. Many great features. And works flawlessly with Alexa. And no fees, like Ring. Eufy also makes many capable video doorbells with no subscriptions and free chimes / base stations. I have the Eufy Battery 2E (2K HD) with base station (chime, 16GB, WiFi extender). It’s only $75 on Amazon (regular price $150). If you want a more advanced model, the Eufy E340 / S330 offers build in video storage (with or without a base station) and dual cameras with package detection / protection. If you must have a name brand, the Google Nest doorbell is also very good. It includes 3 hours of free video. Plus subscriptions if needed. Like many I started with Ring. But will probably never go back. Note: Currently Eufy only works with 2.4 GHz WiFi. If you only have 5 GHz to work with go with Lorex or Nest.

    • @sanjdesigns
      @sanjdesigns 3 месяца назад

      Thank you and agree that the Ring hike in their subscription is disgraceful. Am aware of Eufy but never installed so cannot comment. If they use an unencrypted SD card similar to the Lorex then I wouldn’t want to take the risk for the sake of $50 a year. This was an honest review and given the choice between Ring and Lorex would still choose Ring - despite the extra subscription cost. Hope that helps.

    • @sanjdesigns
      @sanjdesigns 3 месяца назад

      So as you could see in my video, it’s really easy to remove/steal the device and remove the SD Card. The SD card can then be placed into any laptop/PC without a password and all the images, videos and timelines can viewed. This to me is a massive flaw and I wouldn’t be comfortable with that. Whilst the Ring is expensive, it’s cloud based so if your bell gets stolen or removed no one can see the images. Just my thoughts.

      @@sanjdesigns Hi, I have since upgraded to the Eufy E340 dual camera doorbell, one camera for people and one for packages and it works really well. Definitely the best video coverage I have seen yet in a doorbell. I’ve previously used Ring, Nest, Lorex and Eufy. The Eufy does have a build in SD card but has the options for an in house base station or online storage. Personally I’m just not concerned about someone getting my doorbell videos. I think the best deal in video doorbells is the Eufy Battery 2E (2K HD), It’s $75 from Amazon (cheaper on eBay) and includes a base station (chime and 16 GB of video storage). No built in SD. I’ve used and it works well.

      I have the Lorex CCTV Cameras and they're pretty good and reliable so no problem recommending those. The doorbell is however, as you said, lame. It all depends on how much work you need to do to install it. If it's just connecting to existing wires then go for it. If you need to install new wiring and transformer then I wouldn't bother. Concept of the Lorex doorbell is good, but the execution and reliability is really poor. I know Ring has increased its prices which is disgraceful, but it's still better in my honest opinion. Hi there, and thanks for your kind comments. Reference cleaning the sprayer each time, I personally wouldn't leave it for more than 3-4 hours as the paint can dry in the pipework and sprayer which can cause problems. Make sure you drop the pressure before leaving it in the bucket of water. It is a pain to have to keep cleaning the sprayer, but it will save a lot of time and money in the long run. Thanks for the tip. The van is usually in the garage and used infrequently so I’m always worried about draining the battery hence the reason for connecting to the switched live rather than constant. Will look at your tip when I fit my next dashcam 👍

    The 9mm facia is ‘capping’ and used with a wooden sub facia, never on it’s own.

      Are they the large or small fuses? You might need to buy the right T connector from Amazon

    Interesting. I think I was quoted just over £6k Obviously, flooring would have to be fitted around the seating and rails. I'm looking for shallow rails. Similar size to your seats so they don't fully reach the other side, but I'm not looking to fold for bed.

    • @sanjdesigns
      @sanjdesigns 5 месяцев назад

      Thanks for your comment. £6K including installation is about right. I had the flooring supplied by the same company as it was CNC cut and I fitted 3mm Karndean and looks really good. One thing I learnt is because the seat is wider that some of the standard kitchen units won’t fit so need to be custom made even if you don’t want to use as a bed. Hope that helps mate

    Assuming you wired this into your standard lighting circuit rather than have it plugged in by a 3 pin plug in the end?

    • @sanjdesigns
      @sanjdesigns 7 месяцев назад

      Yes mate. 3 pin plug was just to test each tube. Once completed was all wired into a standard lighting circuit with switch and breaker

    Fairly crap image quality on the pioneer, we have two exact cameras and my mate has a chinese android unit and his quality is far superior, I had to cut a cable and use a different standard signal otherwise no image at all

    • @sanjdesigns
      @sanjdesigns 7 месяцев назад

      Don't disagree about the image quality on the pioneer mate. It could be better, but to be honest it's fairly old tech, and I'm happy with it as it's better than no camera at all!

      Thanks for getting in touch. Purchased from a company called Sino Star via Ali Express. Really helpful and saved some cash going directly m.aliexpress.com/item/1005001304663321.html .They'll spec what you need and deliver worldwide.

    I just purchased the battery version. IF you want to have your doorbell connected to multiple phones you will need to add individual's emails in the (sprocket icon of doorbell video) Device Setting > Shared Users. They will need to accept the Lorex invitations.

    Are these more expensive to run than standard led bulbs?

    • @sanjdesigns
      @sanjdesigns 8 месяцев назад

      To be honest I don’t know if they are more expensive to run as I’ve never checked. They are LED within the tube itself so would expect them to be the same cost as regular LED and cheaper than say halogen or fluorescent but also a lot cooler to look at. Hope that helps mate
